Left on 04/25/2013 for a stay in March 2013
The place is absolutely gorgeous, the people renting it out were superfriendly. The kitchen is well equipped and the bedrooms are spacious and very clean. Most of them also have an ensuite bathroom, again with high standard. One negative though: It is not at all where the map says it is- you definitely need a car to go to town (or walk at least 30min).

It's been my second time of staying in Barrtra. I must say that it is a house that welcomes you with warmth and readiness to move in. I invited friends over and planned to cook dinner but wasn't sure I'll find all that's needed - it has it all, all cooking utensils!
The rooms are quite cozy. The main feature of the house is its lounge, relaxing place! It also has a sauna that a few of us used and were happy to do so after surfing in cold water of the atlantic ocean. Highly recommend -

We stayed at Barrtra Lodge and were welcomed by Seamus who made us feel very welcome. The house is absolutely beautiful, very clean and well planned out for a large group. We stayed with three families. The area is breath taking and so is the view from the house. All in all a very enjoyable stay thanks to Geraldine and Seamus. Hope to stay longer next time.

We just stayed in this house last weekend to celebrate a friends 30th birthday and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Beautiful house with a stunning view, excellent bedrooms all ensuite with a jacuzzi and sauna in the main bathroom. Good wifi also for free. There is a beach 2 mins from the house also!

Stayed here for a week with group of six. Barrtra is a modern, very clean house with almost a Mediterranean feel and extremely spacious, sunlit, comfortable rooms. Great views over the ocean bay and a short walk through cow-studded fields to a shingle beach that supports a nice long walk at low tide. Very modern amenities in terms of kitchen, plumbing and heating, and Geraldine is extremely welcoming and accomodating. Lahinch and other spots on the Clare coast are fun and scenic, and it's only a short drive to the Burrens, Loop End, Cliffs of Moher, Innisheer, and on and on.
Words of wisdom as opposed to warning - you will need a car to get around - even just going to Lahinch, the roads are too narrow Imho to bike or even walk safely, though I believe there are cabs, and its only a few miles. Bring a good knife if you want to cook a lot (I find this to be true with all rentals)! There's a good supermarket in Ennistymon. And be prepared to really enjoy yourself, this is a great house in a wonderful place.Response from Ms Geraldine Grady - 09/26/2012

Just back from a weekend in the Barrtra Lodge and i have nothing but praise for the lodge. The pictures don't do it any justice, modern and spotlessly clean with all necessary facilities provided. With 5 bedrooms / 6 bathrooms and a jacuzzi and sauna in the main bathroom, it's perfect for any group up to 11 people extremely comfortably. Only a couple of euro in a taxi to the town so location is perfect! Would highly recommend this house and thank you for the hospitality from Geraldine. 10/10 5*

I rented Barrtra Ldoge for a golfing weekend with some friends.
Firstly, I could not get over the size of the place. It is very spacious, well equipped, bright, comfortable and with some very nice views of Lahinch from the South side of the bay.
The 5 bedrooms are all well equipped and the upstairs bathroom includes a sauna and a jacuzzi bath. Sky Sports was also a very nice touch in the TV package.

The Barrtra Lodge was the perfect location for our family adventure. From Barrtra you are close to the music of Milton/Malbay; the majesty of Cliffs of Moher; the beautiful beach in Lehinch and world class golf. The 5 bedroom/6 bath Barrtra Lodge is perfect for large groups (we had between 8-12 throughout our month's stay) as every room has ensuite and there is plenty of room to stretch-out in the living room, sun room and kitchen/dining room. Geraldine was the most accommodating host and we are already talking about our next visit to the Barrtra Lodge!

Words fail to do justice to the experience of staying at Barrtra lodge but I shall do my best.
Seamus was there waiting for our arrival and gave us a guided tour with all the information we would need even local cab firms which came in very useful and were very reasonably priced.
The pictures of the lodge do not do it justice it so much better than that. The house has a warm and comfortable atmosphere the perfect holiday retreat. Isolated enough to make as much noise as you like without fear of disturbing neighbours yet nestled mid way between miltown and lahinch making its location ideal.
Let's not forget the views out over Liscannor bay. Simply stunning.
Seamus and Geraldine you have a wonderful property and we will have lifelong memories of our wonderful stay. We do hope to be able to come back very soon.

My wife and I went to Barrtra Lodge for our 20th anniversary. Everything about our stay was top-notch.
Booking was easy. We had great directions and the owner met us there with a warm welcome which included fresh baked bread. The place is beautiful! Large, clean and comfortable, with gorgeous ocean views throughout. It would comfortably hold a party of 10, but is priced so that it was still a bargain for the two us.
The lodge had everything we would need, with bonuses such as a sauna and jacuzzi tub. The fireplace is great on a cold and windy October night. It's just a short walk down to the ocean.
It is well-located, with easy day trips to Ennis, Ennistimon, Limerick, Galway and points south. Spanish Point and Lahinch are just a few minutes away. The Cliffs of Moher are a must-see and just 15 minutes from the lodge. Take a boat tour to see them from the ocean - it's fantastic. And, if you have time, do the full day trip which includes the aran Islands.
This was our second trip to Ireland, and highly recommend Barrtra Lodge.Response from Ms Geraldine Grady - 11/09/2011

There were 2 families of us staying in this fantastic house. In total there were 4 adults and 5 children. This was our first time to stay together on holidays and were a bit worried about how it would go, but after staying in Barrtra for 5 nights we wouldn't hesitate to go on holiday together again as there is so much room both inside and outside the house. It is in a lovely peaceful setting, just a short walk from the sea. There was every type of facility in the house, with plenty of everything, including pots, pans, dishes, cutlery, towels and everything you would need as if you were at home. If we go there again, which I have no doubt we will, we won't be bringing so much stuff next time. Definitely can't recommend it highly enough!!

We booked Barrtra for a long weekend and had a big family gathering. From the moment we walked in the door, we were completely at home. Fantastic house, loads of room, great bedrooms/en suites, amazing views and light, loads of parking and for our teenagers, wi-fi and Sky tv. The views were fantastic (notwithstanding the big house next door), and the walk down to the private beach was just what we needed to clear our heads the morning after! Close enough to Lahinch and its amenities, plus a super seafood restaurant down the next lane. Can't recommend this place highly enough - we'll be back!

Myself and extended family including small children had fantastic trip to Lahinch thanks our stay at Bartra Lodge. The facilities were exellent overall. Very comfortable ensuite bedrooms. The kitchen facilities were exellent with everything you need to cook provided. Plenty of space within the house for all to enjoy. We all really appreciated the little personal touches of the house that made our stay so easy from towels, bathrobes, books, games, satellite tv, garden chairs and a beautiful garden. The location is quite close to Lahinch town (about five min drive) and close to the town of Ennistymon which is handy for food shopping. You do need a car to get around however.Comfortable and spotlessly clean I have since recommended Bartra to friends.

Spent two fabulous weeks at Barrtra with family and friends in July 2011. If you want a house for a large group but do not want to be on top of each other, Barrtra is your answer. A very well equipped, ideally located house with a view!!! Even though there is another house directly between Barrtra and the sea, there are still plenty of sea views to be seen right and left. Once you arrive at Barrtra you are submerged into a cosy, stressfree surrounding - so much so that we found ourselves spending so much time just relaxing, reading, taking a wander down the road to the sea, cooking, eating and just having a great time (and enjoying the sunshine on the deck!!), while the younger generation took to the surf. There is not a fault to be found and Geraldine and Seamus made sure that we felt at home as soon as we arrived !! A genuinely great place to stay. Bedrooms are spacious, en-suites immaculate, jacuzzi and sauna a lovely exta. Kitchen very well equipped, living room and sunroom very spacious. All in all a highly recommended place to stay.

After a 4-5 hour drive it was wonderful to receive a warm welcome from Geraldine. The house was ideal for 3 teenage children and another friend as everyone was able to have their own space. The kitchen/dining areas had all we needed for an enjoyable 2 week stay and everything was in excellent condition. My family were spoiled as they all had their own ensuite facilities and the bedrooms were extremely comfortable.
Sky TV was also very popular!
The town of Lahinch was closest to the house and the main purpose of our trip was for surfing. I'm told that the waves were good most days and we also went to Spanish Point for a couple of trips. Lahinch also had some good pubs where we enjoyed various live music sessions at night - Kenny's was very popular. The only disadvantage was that Lahinch was not within walking distance from the house, but the comfort of the house made up for this. Extras such as a complimentary bottle of wine and wheaten bread also made us feel very welcome.
We tried various restaurants and the favourite was Vaughans at Liscannor - about 3-4 miles from the house.
All in all we had a very enjoyable stay at Barrtra Lodge and even when it rained, we didn't mind as the house was so comfortable, we didn't feel the need to go out all the time.
I will recommend this house to friends and family.

The house is fantastic but the picture of the view on the web site was not what we found when we got there, there is a house being built right in front of the house. It blocked the view and we had workers banging early in the morn and little privacy outside on the deck. The house is very well equipped and could not fault it in any way. Very spaceous.
We waited on departure for our deposit and the owner was off elsewhere so eventually we left and had to trust she would forward our deposit, which she did. Very clean and plenty of room for both our families. Real pity about the view though. -

It is so spacious and comfortably fits 12 peple. The owners also a pleasure to meet, very welcoming, with a bottle of wine, some coffee, and milk and lovely home made bread there for us on arrival. I would highly recommend the nearby Barrtra Seafood restaurant, just a mile from the house. Gorgeous food. You would need a car to get to the nearby town of Lahinch. But taxis are easy to get and it's well worth the stay outside the town, so peaceful and quiet.

Left on 09/06/2010 for a stay in June 2009
I traveled with a large group of friends for a tag rugby tournament in Lahinch in summer 2009. The house is absolutely spectacular, we could not believe our luck at having gotten somewhere so nice. There are great views of the bay and the surrounding countryside. The house itself has a big kitchen and conservatory where we spent much of our time and a really nice sitting room too. All the furniture and fittings were lovely, and the place was spotless when we arrived. There is also a wonderful deck where we ate our first dinner there as it was a sunny evening.
The owners were really helpful, leaving lovely, and totally unexpected, brown bread and a bottle of wine ready for us when we arrived, and giving us directions to the house from Lahinch (it is not hard to find, though a little off then beaten track). They also gave us details of taxi companies to get us in and out of Lahinch on Saturday night, which were very reliable.
Having stayed in Lahinch twice at places other than Barrtra Lodge before I would totally recommend it to anyone as a cut above the other holiday homes around there. Indeed several members of my party have been in touch with me over the past year for Geraldine, the owner's number so they can pass it along to family and friends. I look forward to my return to Barrtra! -

The house was just fantastic and so welcoming, It really was a home from home, the house is very comfortable and beautiful decorated. the views are breath taking, The location is so peaceful yet so convienient to Lahinch, you really have the best of both worlds. The house has everything you would need and is certainly well equiped with games, it has satellite tv, we had fantastic weather, but I think regardless of the weather, you would be delighted to relax and enjoy the views.
I loved everything about this house and I could not fault any aspect of our trip to Barrtra Lodge. all of our relatives who visited us in the house were raving about the place!
I could not recommend this holiday home highly enough, I will definintly be returning myself.
