North DakotaPerfect Hawaiian Vacation
Left on 02/14/2013 for a stay in January 2013
What can we say? From beginning to the end everything was great! We had 3 families in the house. 2 of those had 4 kids each ranging in ages of 7 to 18. The house was perfect. Big enough for all to gather and roam, but you had your own little spots for privacy. You have anything you need in the house itself. Outside, the yard is beautiful with beautiful views! The backyard is huge, plenty of room to run. The front is even better. Lots of seating to sit back and watch the waves! The beach was the best part! The kids hated to leave. Not to often can you actually walk out of your house and right down to the beach. Had the beach to ourselves the whole time, which was awesome! Grocery store and shrimp trucks were not very far away 10 to 15 min. It was about an 1 hour away from the Waikiki area and only about 30 min from North Shore activities. All in all, there is really nothing bad I can say about this rental. We all really enjoyed ourselves and were sad to go! Thanks again, Nancy!

Sounds like you all had a really GREAT vacation, spending lot's of quality family time at the home and the beach.
Yes, the home does offer alot of space for all to be comfortable and still have a little hide away for the quite time we all need after a full day out and about the Island.
One of the nicest things about this house is it's access to the secluded beach.
It is not uncommon to be the only person within eyesight.
So glad you all enjoyed yourselves, and we hope to see you next year !
Ahui ho (until we meet again), ALOHA !

Orange County, CABest of Both Worlds
Left on 08/30/2012 for a stay in August 2012
Our stay at this home in the quaint town of Kahuku was the perfect place for our family getaway. In fact, this is our second year renting out the five-bedroom estate. It's just the best of both worlds-the front of the house overlooks the majestic mountain range, while the back of the house boasts the most surreal views of the Pacific Ocean.
The home is equipped with everything for your family's stay: snorkeling gear, beach towels, beach chairs, a full kitchen and a large patio with a barbecue. During our stay, we alternated nights out at the town's local favorites (such as Kahuku Grill-a must-try for their coconut shrimp!) with home-cooked meals.
One of our favorite aspects about the home (sometimes there's too many to count) is its nearly panoramic views of the ocean. Large windows in the family area, and in nearly every bedroom, offer ocean-views at every angle from the back of the house.
It's hard to side-step, however, the fact that this home is right on the oceanfront-just a trot down from the backyard leads you to sandy white beaches and rolling waves. In august, when our family came, the beach was nearly deserted, giving us pretty much our own private beach for the week. Just a short walk north, however, will bring you to another lovely beach that's just perfect for children (the beach by the house, while absolutely great for snorkeling, does have a few rocks by the water's edge). This beach has virtually no rocks and flat sand that stretches nicely into the ocean, giving small children a chance to play freely where the waves hit the sand.
It's safe to say that your stay at this vacation home will be an experience like no other. The home is located in a very quiet area, pleasing those who yearn for a little serenity, yet only a short drive from livelier spots, such as the North Shore, Turtle Bay, Lanikai Beach and Waikiki. Everyone will feel the 'aloha' at this special spot in the Hawaiian Islands-just like we did!

Sonora CAThe perfect place for a big family reunion
Left on 07/31/2012 for a stay in July 2012
We had a family reunion of 10 adults and 7 youngsters (ages 17 down to 5) in July, 2012. We took care of beds for the littlest grandkids by renting mini air mattresses from www.travelbabees.com (picked them up in the Kaimuki district on the way from the airport to Nakapakea). Nancy and Bill kindly provided a big air mattress for the 17 year old, and also provided a large cooler on the back porch which housed the "adult beverages" for the beer and wine drinkers in the crowd. The house is awesome and with the additional sleeping mattresses was perfectly sized for a group of 17. The kitchen is very well equipped and our "world class" male chefs were pleasantly surprised that the house came furnished with excellent cutlery. The huge back porch was the ideal place for family dinners cooked by our chefs. The extra huge back yard gave us the ability to string up a volleyball net and play both volleyball and badminton. And the hammock at the far end of the football field sized back yard was a hit with the younger grandchildren. And the beach in front of the house is ideal for young kids not quite ready for big surf. The parents of the 2 youngest kids signed them up for swim lessons at Gunstock Ranch, which is a long walk or short drive across Kam Highway from the driveway leading down to Nakapakea. We recommend getting your fruits and veggies at the Kahuku Land Farms stand almost directly across from Turtle Bay Resort. Different family members hiked Diamond Head, swam with the turtles near the tide pools north of Nakapakea, visited the Dole Plantation (a little touristy, but fun anyway), and had the mandatory shaved ice in Haleiwa. We had a little typical Hawaiian liquid sunshine, one Portuguese Man 'O War sting, cussed at the nocturnal and very noisy Shearwater birds, and saw (but avoided any stings) one scorpion and one centipede. It's all a part of being in a tropical climate. All in all a great house and a great place for a family get-together.

ArizonaBest Family Vacation ever!
Left on 06/27/2012 for a stay in June 2012
What a beautiful home, right on the beach! There were 12 of us (5 children) and the accommodations worked out great for us. The beach is right out the back door. And the ocean right there is beautiful. All of the children were able to swim in the water with no problems. Many of the adults and children enjoyed using the boogie boards and we had rented a 2 person kayak that was great for paddling around. Each day that we were on the beach we were surprised at how few people there were. If we ever make it back to Oahu this is the house we will choose to stay in again!
Just don't forget your water shoes, there are a fair amount of rocks in the bay, which also makes for nice snorkeling.

Sherwood Park, AlbertaAn absolutely beautiful place for a family get-away
Left on 02/26/2012 for a stay in February 2012
We spent 11 days at Nakapakea/Malaekahana in early February 2012 and were very satisfied with everything about the place. It was exactly as described in the information and photos provided.
The house is very well equipped, and was supplied with just about everything we could imagine in the way of dishes, utensils, appliances, bedding, towels, etc. Everything was clean, in good working order and easy to use.
The manager was most helpful in answering our questions prior to booking and arrival, as well as one or two that came during our stay.
We appreciated the quietness of the location - away from the busier, more commercialized parts of the island. It takes about an hour to drive to Honolulu so it might not be ideal for anyone whose plans were to spend most of their time in the city, although we did find the drive quite enjoyable on the 3 or 4 occasions when we did go there.
The Polynesian Cultural Center is nearby and we spent an afternoon there. We had dinner at the buffet at PCC - they have 2 options: one for about $20 per person and a more elaborate one for about $45. We had the less expensive one and found it very satisfactory.
Several in our group took surfing and paddle boarding lessons at Hale Iwa, about 25 minutes away, and were very happy with the experience.
Everything we needed in the way of groceries and day-to-day needs were available in Laie.
There are also some interesting shops and stores in Hale Iwa, and the Dole Pineapple Plantation is just a few miles from there.
We were very satisfied with everything about the place and very much hope to return someday soon, and would definitely recommend it to anyone. -

Aloha Nancy & Bill. I believe this is our 7th year renting beach houses from you and of course it was awesome as usual. This is an excellent beach house for our growing ohana and we all love staying there each year. The front yard is sooo big it allows the kids to play around and do whatever they please without any worries about cars since it is a private road. Baseball, football, bocce balls, chase, etc. We especially love the outside lanai area with the large picnic table where we have our ohana meals and the view of the valley reminds us that we're on vacation even though we live on the opposite side of the island. Of course the ocean right outside of the beach house has been so fun for the kids to surf and fish. They especially liked exploring Goat Island and all it has to offer. Our yearly ohana vacation is never disappointing staying there. Mahalo again...

Aloha Scot.
Always a pleasure to have you and your Ohana stay with us and we enjoy seeing how the keiki have grown. I'm sure they enjoyed the "wide open spaces" of this particular property and we look forward to seeing you all again this year ( your dates are already reserved).
Aloha and ahui ho !

Left on 12/29/2011 for a stay in December 2011
Large home fronting beautiful and largely deserted beach on Oahu's windward side. Huge yard is great for kids of all ages. 5BR and 3 indoor baths plus outdoor shower provided plenty of room for our party of ten. Well stocked kitchen. Nancy and Bill were nice enough to outfit all of us with boogie boards and snorkel gear. They were responsive when small items didn't work or needed repair. Home was clean but does have a few of Hawaii's de rigeur bugs. We enjoyed north shore surfing, Hanauma snorkeling and a fabulous 50th birthday dinner at Turtle Bay. I patronized every local fruit stand several times during the week.
