Richmond, BCSpectacular Home!
Left on 05/16/2013 for a stay in March 2013
Three couples stayed at "More Than a Beach House" in March. Nancy was delightful to deal with, very accommodating and friendly. The house is spectacular. We were all pinching ourselves upon arrival. We couldn't believe this was the right house. The pictures do not do it justice. Everything you need is there, towels, toys, beach chairs, well equipped kitchen, the list goes on. We loved happy hour on the "lido Deck" at the end of the day, listening to the roar of the ocean and the whales breaching. This house was and is a true find.
Laie is a lovely spot away from the crowds in Honolulu. The beach was uncrowded but there were quite big waves all the time we were there. Fun for playing around in the waves but not as great for snorkeling. There is a great swimming spot to the left as you head from the house to the beach. Turtle Bay is just a short drive down the road where you can swim & snorkel in a quiet bay.
If you get a chance to stay at "More Than a Beach House" enjoy it, we did!

Working with Nancy & Bill was easy. They were prompt & professional.Everything was perfect & ready for us when we arrived.
The home was spectacular!I can't imagine anything much nicer.I would highly recommend reading all the reviews as I did. There were no surprises, my expectations were completely filled and surpassed. It was very fun to see the families reaction, (I had done all the planning, they had just seen a few pictures),we knew the second we arrived that we would never want to leave! The challenge was getting out and touring a little because the place is so nice!!
We had 11 in our party, including 2 grandmas, and our married daughter with her husband and 3 yr old. They took the studio over the garage and loved it, access to everything in the house, yet privacy, or early bedtime when needed. All three rooms in the house are more like suites. Our teenage boys happily stayed in the living room with a breathtaking view. My husband and I had the master bedroom, my favorite was the view and the ocean breeze & sounds of the waves. We loved our tub & double shower,(so did our kids).
The beach was fabulous!! As stated in other reviews, a little walk to the left and it is less rock, but we played right in back of the house each evening. The grandmas needed help getting back up to the stairway that leads to the beach because it is a little steep and the sand is super soft. But they were fine with that, because they loved the location so much. The roosters in the morning were awesome! Our grand daughter and youngest son (12) played in the yard for hours with lots of exploring to do.
We loved how open and airy the house was. Also felt very secure. it was away from the crowds and felt private and isolated, with access to everything you might need within minutes. Don't waste your time traveling to shop groceries, do local. Love the North Shore. We truly hope to make it a family tradition and return every other year. We won't be looking elsewhere, this is our place! Mahalo

We have definitely found the perfect Hawaiian paradise! Ho aina Kaiis was just what the doctor ordered when we needed to escape the stress of "real life." Nancy and Bob were so easy to work with especially since our trip was a last-minute decision.
The directions to the house are easy to follow and when you drive through the gate and come around the long, winding driveway, you think you must be dreaming! The house is very impressive from the outside, and it just gets better and better as you explore.
The home is clearly well-made with lovely hardwood floors throughout. Every detail from the kitchen appliances and dishes to the towels is high quality. You feel like the house, and its guests, are well taken care of. And what a nice surprise to find so many spices in the cabinet and a "pass-through" window to the outdoor barbecue! It made cooking a breeze.
You are surrounded by the beautiful ocean view - every bedroom (which even have their own balcony) - the living room, kitchen, etc. The sound of the ocean, the refreshing ocean air, the fine sand beneath our feet! And who doesn't love your own beach! We hardly saw anyone out there.
Because I'm a professional photographer (see my work at www.spn-photography.smugmug.com) I really appreciated the natural beauty all around us. And the sunrises were spectacular! I photographed the house to help future renters get a taste of the wonderful surroundings.
Though it was just two of us this trip we're looking forward to bringing our family back next time. When facing life's stresses it's nice to know there's a paradise waiting for us just a few hours' plane ride away. We'll definitely be back!

Palmer, AKFantastic Property managed by Fantastic People-
Left on 02/13/2013 for a stay in February 2013
We Just returned after a week of enjoying this wonderful place. The pictures don't begin to do the property justice. The place was amazing- with luxurious appointments throughout. The home- was absolutely huge- imagine a 5000 square foot home with only 3 bedrooms- on top of it, the home was delightfully appointed! The appliances were near new, modern, and upscale. The kitchen is extremely large- granite counter's abound throughout the home. The house and grounds are spotless! The lot is amazing with over an acre of lawn, palms, flowers all impeccably maintained. With luck, the peacocks and peahens will stop by for a treat.
Location location location - the beach is fantastic- with wonderful sand. - Beach combing and exploring abound in front of the home and in either direction! Beach swimming is a short walk and the trade winds offer body surfing galore! If your interest is surfing- its there! For big waves- the Sunset beach scene, is only a short hop up the coast!
Above all else, one of the nicest parts of our adventure was our experience dealing with our Host's - Nancy and Bill. Not only are they congenial - but they are gracious and considerate.
They thought of everything- from coffee our first morning, to paper products, spices and soaps, books, WiFi, I could go on and on- the thought and planning they exhibit is remarkable. Above all else Nancy and Bill couldn't have been nicer nor more helpful (not that we needed to ask for anything). I will be back!Response from Nancy - 02/14/2013

Mahalo for the awesome review. Maybe we should let you write up our site ! Yes the house is VERY LARGE and WELL FURNISHED.
We keep hearing how the photos don’t do the house justice, but we’ll keep clicking away till we can at least get close.
The deserted Beach is truly gorgeous and it is only that way because of it’s limited access. Nice to walk back and forth on the beach and have your footprints be the only ones !
So happy to have served you to make your stay enjoyable and we look forward to seeing you again.
Aloha and Ahui Ho !

Nanaimo, BCMuch more than a beach house!
Left on 01/11/2013 for a stay in December 2012
Stayed here for two weeks with a group of 7 (family and friends). The home was fabulous ... Much more than we expected It is private and spacious -- we never felt "on top"of each other or lacked for personal privacy if desired.
The home has been maintained very well, all nooks and crannies were clean and the grounds were immaculate. Peaceful location with the sound of the surf lulling us to sleep.
The home was well laid out and well appointed ... The kitchen to die for. We prepared many an extravagant meal and even with 3 "chefs"in the kitchen at once, there was room for more!
Nancy and Bill, the property managers, were responsive, informative and helpful and we felt they went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect.
We had rented a van for the duration of our stay and we truly covered the whole Island finding nowhere to be more than 1.25 hours away. The Bus stops on the main road and is easy to use for getting around.
The beach in front of the house is perfect for strolling --,the beach deck on the edge of the property perfect for morning coffee and watching the sunrise, also surrounded by foliage and allowed for more "exposed"sunbathing in privacy.
The pass thru from the kitchen to the barbeque was clever and useful. The massage chair in the living room was the seat of choice to soothe sore muscles from surfing.
Our only complaint was that the home was so delightful and comfortable, it made it difficult to leave to do other things.
Highly recommend.Response from Nancy - 01/12/2013

Mahalo for the awesome review and we're so glad you enjoyed the property. Seems every one keeps telling us to take more photos, but even the new pics just can't capture the whole feeling. Yes, the home is LARGE and the beach SECLUDED, but as you mentioned, only an hour or less away from the crowds.
Bill says send the boy's back in the summer for some fishing and he'll go with them !
Happy to meet you and be of service to you all, and hope to see you again.
Aloha and ahui ho !
