Lairg is a small, picturesque village set on the shores on Sutherland’s largest Loch, Loch Shin. The Loch Shin Holiday Homes are 2 cottages situated a stone’s throw from the banks of Loch Shin. Ash cottage sports 3 bedrooms, offering ample accommodation for a group of up to 5 people. The master-bedroom features a sun deck and in the sitting-room, there is a window that offers fantastic views across the Loch and the mountains. Outside there is a small patio that leads to a shared garden in which you can enjoy a spot of al fresco dining during the summer months. In addition, there is substantial off-road parking, allowing you to dr...ive around the region and explore the many attractions that lie beyond.

Amenities: Oil central heating. Electric oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, TV, DVD player, stereo/CD player. Washer/dryer in separate utility room. All fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Shared use of large garden with garden furniture. Ample off road parking. Pets welcome. Shop and pub 4 miles.

Region: From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain’s best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

Town: The Loch is fed by the River Shin, renowned for its beauty and the abundance of salmon and trout that it plays host to. A walk along the Shin will take you to the famous Falls and, at certain times of year, you can see salmon leaping to their original spawning grounds. The Falls of Shin are also served by restaurants and shops. To the west you will find Loch Assynt, where you will find the ancient ruins of Ardvreck Castle. In the distance, surrounding Lairg, you can take in the breathtaking panorama that is made up of blue mountains and rolling forests. The area is famed for its wildlife and animals such as red deer can be seen throughout the year. All prices are inclusive of the booking fee. The "Min. Per Night" prices quoted are based on the weekly rental price, they are not applicable for short breaks. See our short break policy or ask for further details.
Winter Short Breaks (WSB) are available at many properties in the "Winter" period - subject to availability. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the "Low" and "Mid" periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday. "Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.

  Staying at the ash cottage, was one of our best holidays,in the past ten years, we have had 7 holidays to Spain, 1 to Bulgaria, 2 to England and 2 to the Philippines, in the past ten years and its only the Philippines that beat it. The house was that clean you could have eaten your dinner off the floor,excellent area, excellent views of the lake and excellent care taker. I couldn't say a bad word about the cottage, area or the facilities/amenities.

  Welcomed by key holder who showed us around and explained things. This was a lovely holiday house in a beautiful location. The house was well equipped and warm. It would have benefitted from warmer curtains / blinds in kitchen to make it cosier on dark nights. There is enough to do in the area - lovely walks - for about a week.

  Excellent holiday cottage.Very friendly and helpful caretaker. Good directions given. Lots to see and do in the area. Had a great time.

  the cottage was ok

  having stayed at this cottage for the last 3 year i was surprised to find that the premises was getting run down : there was a hole in the master bedroom wall the ensuite toilet was not working and the decor was very faded and there was some tiles missing on the roof this property could be brought back to the level it marketed at, i hope this will happen before next year.

  This was a lovely place, well appointed, if dimensions can be a little tight in the bedrooms. The kitchen is lovely, mod cons abounding.
  If you go with dogs however...be warned...carpets are cream, but seem hard wearing, and you need to search for walks to take the dog(s). We found several a couple of miles away, but you can't walk them alongside the Loch
