The village of Argegno is only a 3 minute walk with lake, ferry, bus. Bank, minimarket, fruit & veg shop, geletaria all available here in the village.
Argegno itself is home to lakeside living par excellence with a selection of bars and restaurants, perfect for a lazy lunch or a romantic candlelit alfresco feast. The village also boasts a bakery, mini market and fish shop

Left on 02/28/2013 for a stay in February 2013
My wife, my mother and I stayed in mid-Feb for two nights. We all found it a very comfortable and well appointed apartment. It was clean and tastefully decorated with a fantastic location perched in the hills just above a typical lake como town with a couple of nice restaurants, cafes, bakery and a small grocery store short (albeit steep) walk below. We had great sunny weather and the view from the deck (and floor to ceiling windows) across lake como and mountains beyond was amazing. I can't imagine a much better view of the lake at any price. It was a little smaller than expected but plenty for 2 couples. Only gripe was no Internet but they did offer to set something up for us - we declined as only staying two nights. Friendly and quick response from owners.

We love Lake Como- we almost always visit in the Winter..why well we hate to share with the tourists that's why! The lake is known for it's relaxing nature and stunning lakeside scenery, and this apartment certainly gives you a great big helping of both.
There is sharp walk up to the apartment from argegno (10 mins), but taken slowly, shouldn't present any real difficulties. My in laws are both nearly 70 and they managed it with a couple of stops en route, we did on 2 occasions use the car, which was great as the parking it plentiful and enough space to turn the car around.
There is a really pleasant walk via through the ancient village down to the village, the walk back up to the apartment from argegno took me 10 minutes walk.
The apartment is spacious and certainly relaxes you into your stay. Amenities are very good - the kitchen well tooled for home cooking, and the bedrooms offering a comfy night's sleep. We didnt use it but there is a patio area outside and it will give an excellent place to enjoy summer sunshine.
Argegno is on the main highway on the west side of Lake Como, being served by regular buses and boats (to other nearby towns and Como itself). There is also a cable car (Funivia) in the village to take you up into the mountains to enjoy spectacular views.
Thoroughly recommended.

Left on 01/05/2013 for a stay in August 2012
We stopped here in august 2012, we had a long journey from Calais and by the time we got to Lake Como Julie was very helpful and accommodating.
The apartment has everything you need and more. The balcony has breath taking, amazing views across the lake and beyond. The double bedroom was luxorious, spacious and practical in one. Everything is extremely modern and up to date. I was really upset when it was time to leave as it was such an amazing holiday.
We hired a speed boat for the day which was so much fun as we travelled right round the lake. In argegno itself there are a few nice restaurants and bars.
Overall an amazing holiday! -

Love this well-equipped, attractive apartment. Parking included and attached. Perfect for a woman traveling alone, feels very secure. In addition, the landlord remains accessible by e-mail or phone if you so much as blow a fuse. Shopping and restaurants a short walk into town. Gorgeous views and very quiet, great for writer, artist or misty-eyed tourist. Close to Belaggio and other attractions and a short drive to Como-center. Lovely lakeside towns, food markets and a short hop to Switzerland ... it's almost too good to be true.

Left on 11/07/2012 for a stay in October 2012
We stayed in this modern, clean, well equipped apartment with fabulous lake and mountain views and had a wonderful holiday. It took a little over an hour to reach argengo from Bergamo airport and was easy to find despite us not driving abroad for many years. The owners were really helpful and we had great service, with information about the apartment and surrounding area. The apartment was tastefully furnished and very comfortable with all you need for a self catering stay. The massive windows gave uninterrupted views and the balcony was a pleasure to sit on so much so we even cooked some days rather than eat out so we could enjoy the view.
The village of argengo was lovely really old typical Italian style with narrow cobbled lanes and a selection of small local shops. There was a good selection of local bars and restaurants all within a couple of minutes walk of the apartment. The local people were friendly and gave warm service. It was inexpensive to eat and drink and in the evenings the bars provided snacks such a prosciutto ham and ciabatta bread to the table when you had a drink for free!
We enjoyed sightseeing around the lake by hire car, however there were boat trips available from the villages up the lake and the bus to Como is very reasonable. We had lovely ice creams in Menaggio, and a great pizza in Lenno and enjoyed eating and drinking in argegno also. There was a cable car in argengno which went up the mountain to Pigra with stunning views and you could walk back down a country path or indeed ride back in the cable car. There is a wealth of things to do or it is just as nice to just sit, relax and take in the atmosphere. My 13 year old daughter loved it despite the lack of tat and theme parks, we will definitely go back! -

My husband and I have just spent a week in this apartment in argegno. The apartment is well situated with just a few minutes walk into the village. There are a good number of steps to walk back up but not a problem as long as you are fit! Apartment had everything we needed and was very comfortable with great views. Various places to eat in the village and a great wine bar to try lots of different Italian wines. We had a fantastic time. Barrie recommended a very good restaurant in Brienno where we had a lovely meal for our 10th wedding anniversary.

Left on 09/15/2012 for a stay in September 2012
We were met earlier than expected and shown around the apartment with all our queries answered. It couldn't have been easier.
The highlight of the apartment is the view from the terrace which is to die for .It's a brief but strenuous climb from the village to the apartment but well worth it . Driving up to the apartment is not for the faint heated either as in many Italian villages !
The village of argegno is a real working village, very friendly and really grows on you . There are some excellent restaurants and cafes and it's an easy walk to the ferry port with access to all parts of the Lake . One week here is certainly not enough .
It would have been nice to have 2 sun loungers on the terrace as advertised in the publicity ( although as the weather was mixed it wasn't a problem on this visit )Response from Julie Webb - 09/15/2012

Dear Elinor,
Many thanks for your kind words. It was delightful to meet you. We are glad the home made your expectations and you enjoyed the authentic atmopshere of Argegno. I agree the 3 minute walk to the home from the village is a bit of a climb but the view we agree is to die for!!
We are always able to organise more sunloungers on request.
Hope to hear from you and welcome you back sometime soon for a longer visit!
Many thanks for your review, we really appreviate it.

Left on 07/11/2012 for a stay in June 2012
We stayed in this beautiful place, as it was described in the web site, in June 2012. The view was beautiful.
But if you want to pay the highest price in a lower season which was our case and have:
1. howled dog downstairs which disturb our stay all week,
2. extremely difficult parking, design for a very small cars,
3. clogged and not having constant temperature shower,
4. dirty floors,
5. dealing with two property managers who are using exuses of not knowing what other one does,
go for it.
The price we paid for the place was not worth the money.Response from Julie Webb - 08/06/2012
Manager
Dear Barbara,
I am sorry to hear your comments. Your stay (23 to 30 June) coincided with the San Giovanni firework display which takes place the last saturday of the year so we do not consider the last week in June as lower season. In fact this weekend is the most popular week on the lake with an extra 30,000 guests flocking here to view the Saturday night spectacle with many returning guests for our homes each year.
The price paid was the price advertised only. I think your dissatisfaction stemmed from the fact the following week was advertised at the last minute at a reduced rate due to a cancellation. Julie explained this to you in person which you chose not to accept hence the reason for contacting me which you allude to in your comments of having to deal with two property managers. If the rate the following week was higher, lower or the same this would not effect the amount you paid. I am also sorry to hear these comments given i also wrote to you after your stay to confirm this in writing to which i received no reply, only these comments on our site instead which is the first partially negative review in 6 years of advertising this home. The home is an apartment not a private villa hence it is normal from time to time to hear life going on however the amount of guests who mention there is an issue with a neighbouring homes pet is evident in the 30 plus reviews below. The fact is the home is the top floor apartment with no homes above you whilst the home to the right is seldom occupied. We have a private covered parking space or a communal space if guests bring a larger vehicle ( our neighbour parks his 4 x 4 comfortably next door also in his covered private space) I should point out to potential future renters your estate car had two bikes attached upright on arrival. Hence the communal space (not covered) was made available for your stay.
Once or twice a year the showers can be clogged due to the high level of calcium in the water which is common here on the lake. If guests call us at anytime we will react immediately and organise to resolve the matter. Our no is 0039 3389245242 for guests to contact us at anytime. We will be happy to help and respond at all times.
Regrettably we received no call from you during or after your stay which we would have been happy to react to swiftly. Ditto the floors. If any guests ever have any issues re cleaning for any of our 100 plus homes we would re-visit or reclean immediately if ever the situation occured (in almost 300 reviews for our company www.italianpartments.co.uk rarely if at all do guests raised cleaniness as an issue)
We pride ourselves on our personaLcustomer service and offering homes we would be proud to stay in ourselves only which makes it doubly dissapointing when we receive negative feedback. If valid of course we are the first to hold our hands up, apologise and try to resolve the situation.
However i feel the issue and your comments are purely and simply down to the fact you feel your week should have been reduced in line with the cancelled week in July and you considered late June as off season. However every communication with you confirmed the rate which did not change at any time.
Many thanks
Barrie and Julie -

a fabulous apartment in a really friendly little place, we were welcomed like film stars at the local wine bar!
We were given great advice by Barrie and Julie and the knowledge that they have for everything is amazing..right down to the best places to get a take away pizza!
The apartment is perfect, great little dvd player and music system and in the kitchen everything you need to enjoy the fruits of the local markets and shops not to mention the very nice local wines that are available, we cooked more that we thought we would and really just used the evening time to relax, it was an amazing time and we were planning the next trip on our last night.
We used the local transport and the ferry to go to Mennagio and had a great day looking around and enjoying the Christmas atmosphere.
We will be back..without doubt, it's too good to resist.

Left on 10/11/2011 for a stay in October 2011
We could not have found a more perfect location for our first trip to Lake Como. Close to all the sites but far from the tourist traps, we feel we had a true Italian experience. The view from this apartment takes your breath away and we quickly made friends with many of the village restauranteurs and merchants who treated us like regulars. The flat is clean, comfortable and did I mention the view. Parking can be a bit tricky if you have a big american car but the bus and the ferry are easy to use and get you to Como Town, Bellagio and all the big attractions - plus both are scenic adventures in themselves. The town square is a short walk from the apartment and has three good restaurants, a great wine bar and a couple of Italian Bars for a morning coffee or pre-dinner cocktail. Our favorite was La Piazetta which has the best pizza I've ever eaten (and I'm from the New York area)

Left on 08/05/2011 for a stay in July 2011
Our first visit to the Italian lakes and we loved it. The balcony views are just spectacular - we found we could see the ferry coming and still have time to get down from the apartment to catch it. We didn't have a car and found it easy to travel with buses and ferries - just check the timetables beforehand. For just 2 of us we found the mini market and fruit shop had everything we needed - great fruit , veg , cheese and bread. Villa Meltzi gardens in Bellagio definitely worth a visit. We did a spectacular walk from top of Funicular to Lenno - picked up the leaflet for it in tourist office in Mennagio - supposed to take 3 hours but more like 4 1/2 - took us through villages we couldn't figure out how residents could possibly reach . Felt our calf muscles the next day but views down the lake were amazing. Julie and Barrie were extremely helpful both in email replies and and advice and anything we needed whilst there. Many thanks for a lovely apartment - perfectly placed for easy travel to all the central places in the lake.

Windsor, UKAmazing view from comfortable, modern apartment
Left on 07/19/2011 for a stay in July 2011
Pictures cannot do justice to the superb outlook from this L-shaped balcony. The beauty of Lake Como to the east is enhanced by the mountains all around and, below, the pretty medieval backstreets of argegno and the gorge and river.
It is an unbeatable situation, easily accessed from the village centre in 3 minutes on foot. Conversely, it is a steep climb up uneven steps so you need to be moderately fit. Public transport from argegno is reliable, by bus (cheap),ferry (pricier) and even a cable car to the village of Pigna, 800m above! Grocery shopping is challenging without a car, so be sure to catch the market on Monday morning.
Inside, the apartment is modern and comfortable, well furnished from Ikea and the satellite TV has all UK channels so you can watch something other than the view, if you want. Our only dislike was the shower, which wouldn't maintain a constant temperature. The owners have agreed to try and fix this.Response from Julie Webb - 07/20/2011

Hi Peter,
Many thanks for your email, glad you enjoyed the home and the village, always a favourite of many returning customers.
There is also a minimarket plus bakery, the later open 7 days a week for a minimarket also available. The supermarket is only 10 minutes by car however as you decided not to hire car you can stil travel easily by bus or ferry which you mention. Of course when on holiday here a car is not necessary if you wish to slow down a little and take in the view and enjoy the village as you have done.
Shower i am happy to report is working fine.
Only a small point , however for clarity i need to correct you on is the furnishing.
The home i should point only has a few ikea items (lampshades and sofas) as the kitchen and bedrooms are all purpose built by a local craftsmen here on the lake.
The rattan furniture was purchased in Verona. The bathroom is furnished to a high standard also from the tile and bathroom showroom here in Argegno!
Hope to welcome you back in the future Peter.
Kind regards

Overall we had a great visit. There are a few issues that should be known in considering this apartment.
The path/steps to the village (stairway to heaven) are very steep and in poor repair. Dangerous, I would not recommend this for anyone with less than excellent mobility.
Wifi available- means go to the wine bar in the
village. If they are open and not busy they were glad to let you log-on.
Argegno is not a part of the mid-lake boat system and therefore has less options, particularly before noon.
Julie & Barrie were excellant host and the apartment was spotless and very well appointed. Very comfortable and an unbelievable, unobstructed view.
I'd highly recommend this unit.
Response from Julie Webb - 06/09/2011

Sonny and Becky, Many thanks for kind words. It was a pleasure to host you. Just to confirm we offer internet dongle keys for wireless access (prebooked only as advertised) for the home as well as complimentary wifi in the village wine bar..3 min walk. We have hosted all ages at the home and whilst the short cut pathway to the home is typically italian and rustic, and certainly not for high heels, it is only a short walk to all amenities and even better with an icecream purchased from Zoe's excellent ice cream parlour in the village. Lake Como is famous for the breathtaking vistas and of course with that comes hills and a climb and when you get there (all 3 minutes from all amenities) the view i agree is unbelievable!
The ferry timetable changes 28 May till October so there are frequent feries in peak season to majour tourist attractions as you would find in other lake villages.
Glad you enjoyed the home and the view.
Hope to welcome you back soon!
Kind regards

The apartment is is well equipped, modern, clean and ideally located close to the centre of Lake Como within easy reach of heaps of interesting villages and villas.
The view from the balcony is spectacular and hours can be spent watching ferries come and go across the lake.
Julie was extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful on arrival.
The walk down to the village, was a little steep and uneven for my elderly parents but it was easy to park down by the waterfront near to all the services and the ferry terminal. For anyone of average fitness it is only two or three minutes to walk down. -

We've recently returned from a week in argegno with our small child and a great time was had by all.
The apartment itself is well-equipped and pleasant, but the wrap-around balcony really is something else - the view across and up the lake is superb.
Argegno itself is a delightful place with a old centre and a good selection of places to eat and drink. The bakery is particularly recommended. It's also ideally placed to explore the west side of the lake and beyond into Switzerland, and within an hour of Milan and its airports.

The villa is a lovely place to stay, with amazing views across the lake, you never get tired of sitting on the balcony. We didn't have a car and had to climb up a number of steps and a steep slope to get from the town to the villa, not a problem for us but would be difficult for anyone with mobility problems. Ferrys from the town to other parts of the lake are not very regular and stop very early in the evening so would suggest catching the buses instead which are cheaper too. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Would definitley stay here again.

The position of the apartment gives the most stunning views across the lake and of the mountains, we watched the sunset whilst drinking wine on the balcony. We ate out just once because the kitchen was so well equipped we shopped and cooked every day. The people in the village are among the most friendly and welcomed us warmly, we found a great bar to drink the nicest wine and just didn't want to come home. We drove around a little but also used the ferry and walked through the village. Use the funivia ( the cable car!) I have no head for heights but it was amazing to get to the little town above. the walks were interesting and calming. The weather was beautiful cold crisp and sunny. We will be back, definitely next year it's just the nicest way to unwind after the insanity of work and life in general. Barry and Julie were gracious and kind hosts, and very knowledgeable.

This is a lovely apartment with perfect views over Lake Como (Lombardy Italy) with views to the mountains in the distance. The check-in process where we parked in the village and waited for the owner to meet us was a bit slow as she was dealing with other customers and this made us wait for over an hour. However the apartment as I said was super. You need a car to get your shopping as the nearest s/market is in the next town (10 mins away) The village argegno is a quiet place but the lake ferry can take you to the other towns which are lovely. Overall a peaceful holiday and apartment is well recommended.

A really nice apartment with great views across the lake, all enjoyed either through the massive sliding doors or out on the wraparound balcony.
Town is small but very quaint with many places to eat and drink.
There is also a Lido meaning that there is no need for a swimming pool (the lake is big enough !). -

We have just returned from a fantastic week in this beautiful apartment in argegno on Lake Como. The apartment is very well equipped, clean and comfortable. Julie and Barrie have made it a superb home from home. The views are to die for and we enjoyed many an evening just sitting with a glass of wine soaking up the view! You will definitely need a car to explore the lake. The walk down to argegno is quite steep but nevertheless great exercise. We would thoroughly recommend this apartment for a quiet, relaxing break.

Thanks to the volcanic ash cloud we had to stay a week longer than planned - but what a great place to be stranded! The apartment is spotless, with the most stunning view over Lake Como. Furnishings are tasteful and modern. We loved the village life in Argegno and became regulars at the two wine bars where Happy Hour is from 6-8pm! Nice restaurants as well and there's lots to see along the lake. Julie was a joy and looked after us extremely well, sorting out little problems like no flights and a bad case of toothache (probably too much pizza). Book it - you'll love it.

In a nutshell, this apartment is everything and more than what you see on the website. It is spotlessly clean, has two generous-sized bedrooms and offers all the comforts of home. However, the main attraction has got to be the knockout view from the wraparound balcony and floor to ceiling windows that dominate the main room in the apartment. Built into the hillside overlooking the rooftops of Argegno village itself, you can enjoy the most stunning views of Lake Como, the snow-capped Alps and all the hustle and bustle of the boats and seaplanes coming and going. Pure bliss!
Julie and Barrie are the perfect hosts going out of their way to ensure a memorable holiday. They organised a babysitter, booked restaurants, arranged taxis for us and helped us out in anyway they could. You couldn't have asked for more.
If you have kids on tow, Minitalia LeoLandia is a great theme park located 5 minutes outside Bergamo. It has a great selection of rides for all ages along with a park of miniature reproductions of all the famous Italian sites - leaning Tower of Pisa, St Peter's etc. Well worth a visit.
Other day trips we did were: Bellagio by boat from Argegno (port two mins from apartment), Lucano in Switzerland - only 90 minutes by car from the apartment, Como town itself is absolutely beautiful with lots of cobbled streets and great shopping and don't miss Milan which has the most beautiful cathedral you will ever see.
There is so much to do a week wasn't long enough. We will definitely be back! Thank you Julie and Barrie. Dee, Tim, Katherine and Sarah xResponse from Julie Webb - 04/22/2010

Dee and family,
Many thanks for your kind words. It was a real pleasure to meet you all and for you to stay at our holiday home. Chuffed to bits you loved the home and village so much, we too find it really convenient to get about around the lake by ferry or just take a stroll to the village for a coffee, ice cream or glass of wine!
Hope you arrived home safely and not too many easter eggs were consumed by all on your arrival!
We thouroughly enjoyed hosting you and hope to hear from you in the future some time soon!
Kind regards

Everything from booking, arrival and departure was very easy and welcoming. The home was excellent, it had everything you would need, comfortable and includes a wonderful view of the lake. The town was quaint and the local very friendly, and great fun to explore. The lcoation was great as a base getting to other nearby towns including connections to Bellagio. Loved our time there and it was a shame we eventually had to leave. Thanks.

Left on 12/19/2009 for a stay in February 2009
This modern hillside's apartment's living area is dominated by a large window giving panoramic lake views of the lake which can also be enjoyed over refreshments on the balcony. The apartment is conveniently located, just a few minutes walk from the village centre, through "steep in parts" medieval alleyways. In the centre, are shops, restuarants, bars as well as the ferry and bus stops
which make Argegno a good base for sightseeingResponse from Julie Webb - 12/19/2009

Lovely location with superb view of Lake Como, apartment was very nicely fitted out. Friendly welcome by the owners Julie and Barry who were available for help and advice.
Short walk to the village (down steps) with good selection of bars and restaurants and access to ferry port, small shop and bakery.
Only downside was allocated parking space was difficult to access.

the apartment was great, views fantastic, all requirements met. I would recommend this apartment to all but the elderly as the stairs into the apartment and many down to the village would be too difficult. We found the parking in the village convenient as we couldnt handle the steep carport entry. We would definitely return to this Argegno apartment. thank you Julie !

Susan, Many thanks for your feedback. Glad you enjoyed your stay and the home lived up to your expectations. It was lovely to meet you during your stay. I agree for elderly clients the 3 minute walk down to the lake would perhaps be an issue for some older clients although for everyone else it is not an issue. We also now have more space close to the car port to make parking easy for guests who arrive from here on in. Hope to hear from you soon for your next visit to us in Argegno all the way from Oz! Thanks a million for taking the time to get in touch, we really appreciate it! Kind regards Julie

The view from the apartment is amazing, it is constantly changing with the light. I found myself leaping out of bed the moment I woke up and throwing the shutters open to get another fix. We went in January and used the apartment as a base to go skiing. The panorama from the balcony of the still waters of the lake and the snow capped mountains behind, was breathtaking.
The apartment itself was fab. It is very stylish with modern fixtures and fittings, a fully equipped kitchen and very nice bathroom.
We had a lovely time, the locals are very friendly and helped us with our choice of ski locations.
WE'LL BE BACK!!!

SomersetA wonderful holiday
Left on 09/28/2009 for a stay in July 2009
The apartment with it's amazing views was perfect, Barrie and Julie were enormously helpful and we had a great time. I would warn people of the problems we had with parking - the space in the garage above the apartment was almost impossible to get our estate car in and out of although a smaller car would probably have been OK. We left a lot of rubber on the very steep driveway and resorted to pushing the car a couple of times! We could have left the car in Argegno and faced the very steep climb up to the flat - fine without shopping. The other problem was the enormous dog in the garden downstairs who howled for no particular reason all day and night. Again, not a massive problem but did cause us to lose some sleep. Overall, we loved the flat, the area and the Prossecco we drank most nights sitting outside in the village square of Argegno. We swam in the incredibly warm lake everyday and made the Lido our meeting place. Good pizzas there as well! Thanks again to Barrie and Julie.

Many thanks for your response. Glad you enjoyed your stay, Argegno and the home. I agree the village is the perfect spot to enjoy the authentic Lake Como local experience amongst the locals. There is now also an area to park the car close to the private parking which is easier for larger cars ( i agree it is better to bring a medium or small size car to navigate the roads and for parking here!) Harris, the dog downstairs, is very friendly and popular with guests yet strangely enough guests can sometimes not hear him for weeks ( and customers don't mention him for weeks on end!). Some of our guests feed him if they see him from the balcony-maybe that's the secret!
Thank you once more for your valued feedback, it was fantastic meeting you both. Hope to welcome you back next year!
