“Cottage holiday in ravenglass” The position of the cottage for exploring the South West area of the lake district is perfect. The accommodation on a working farm had everything you could wish for and was clean and spacious, with a lovely view towards the mountains. The only thing lacking was an outside area to sit and enjoy a barbecue with the lovely view. The owners were friendly and helpful.

“Excellent stay at Smithy Cottage” We really enjoyed our stay at Smithy Cottage. The location for our requirements was excellent, as some of the party wanted to climb mountains and some wanted to stay local. All the facilities at the cottage were excellent. We had a meal at the pub down the road which again was excellent, and would certainly recommend this.

“No hesitations about recommending archers..” ... except it might get too busy to re-book it again! Having stayed in a different cottage for a number of happy visits to Keswick, my first stay in archers was a reluctant change - but i was more than satisfied, and look forward to returning if i ever have the opportunity to work in the Lakes again. Comfortable, cosy, well-equipped. Great location for being central to shops, but easy access for walks, cycling etc...

“What a great weekend” We went for a 40th birthday and took 16 friends along with us. The house was just great in every way. We enjoyed the space, the kitchen and its cupboards full of stuff, the jacuzzi and the massive lounge with roaring fire. I would recommend this for a great weekend getaway with friends or family. It's in a fabulous location right by the sea and very private. My only bug was it was cold but we did go in November! Would definitely go again.

“A real little gem!” What a delightful little cottage, with absolutely all the amenities one could wish for, plus a host and hostess who couldn't do enough for us. The welcome cake and drinks were the icing on the cake. Location was fantastic, with so many activities and attractions within minutes of the cottage. Even the trip up to Beatrix Potter's home was not a long drive. Very happy to recommend this place to anyone wanting a nice little bolt hole".

“Great location in the centre of Grasmere village” Spacious and well fitted our, quality accommodation, ideal lake district cottage. We booked it for two adults, two teenagers and their Grandmother and it was perfect. Great to be restful after a good long walk, the walk to the tarn is a good start for those our of practice fell walkers too! The local co-op provides a good range of essentials and enough for meals when you,re not eating out. There are a number of good places to eat our, the small and homely bistro being just next door. We managed to see Wordsworth,s house, took a few long (and dry) walks , went to ambleside and Kendal and took a boat ride on Windermere. All in all a great place, great accommodation and a good holiday

“Fantastic Rental Cottage” We stayed at Swallow's nest for our anniversary in Sept 11. The interior was finished to a very high standard, it was like staying in a 5 star hotel. The kitchen was well equipped and we enjoyed buying the amazing produce of the lake district and cooking it up back at the cottage, enjoying the views as we ate. The location is good, close to Penrith town centre, and good transport links into the Lake District. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely come back.

“Quiet retreat near Keswick” The property was exactly as described...the central heating was needed the weekend we were there and made the Hayloft very snug. Owners very helpful with getting wi-fi to work on our laptop...(don't expect 20mbs but fine for light surfing). Only concern was slight lack of cooking bits & pieces and cutlery could do with a really good clean. Idylic setting and good location. Would

“Spacious, clean and well positioned holiday home” Hunter's Chase is a large, modern well equipped house, ideally positioned for visiting the Northern Lake District. We visited with a large, mixed age group of 9 from an 8 year old to Grandad in his 80s. All of the bedrooms were well appointed with plenty of storage space. A total of 4 bathrooms plus a downstairs cloakroom meant there were no arguments or queues for the toilet! The two main bedrooms were equipped with large flat screen tvs as well as the lounge. We also made good use of the wi-fi in the house. The kitchen was newly fitted and very well equipped with every type of crockery, cutlery and cooking implement you might require as well as a dishwasher and a large fridge freezer. It's located in a lovely village (although we never tried the pub) with the actual position being very quiet with views over fields and a large garden good for playing ball games. Pooley Bridge nearby has several pubs and a lovely beach by the river and Penrith, also not far away, is a traditional market town with facilities including a swimming pool, cinema and the normal array of supermarkets.

Cazenovia Hall
Exceeded Expectations!

Cazenovia Hall was the perfect vacation home! It has been renovated to a very high standard but still maintains the charm of an ancient building. We really enjoyed using the Aga but there is a modern stove as well. The views out all of the windows were beautiful. The layout of the house is very convenient and each bedroom has its own bathroom. The location was great and we had fun exploring Greystoke and Hutton in the Forest nearby.see more
Melmerby Hall
Beautiful

We hosted our wedding at the beautiful Melmerby Hall, what an amazing place to create new memories with all our friends and family. Everyone enjoyed using the House and Stag Cottage next door, the atmosphere was relaxed and the sun shone, I realise that our booking did not include guaranteed sunshine but it did add to the fun, we were able to use the garden all afternoon and even got some beautiful pictures within the wooded grounds. thank you to the Rowley Estates for thinking of everything, a lovely welcome hamper and well equipped kitchen meant we were able to make and serve a wonderful buffet. we actually live across the road in Melmerby but staying in the luxurious yet homey Hall made us feel like we were all on holiday. The last night we stayed we had a mass game of hide and seek, adults and children all loved this game which gave us lots of laughs and wonderful memories to take away with us.see more

The Byre (Wood Farm Self Catering Cottages)
We found The Byre peaceful and spacious.

We were looking for a three bed-roomed cottage with two bathrooms. I was attracted to a farm site for its isolation and tranquillity. We found everything clean and comfortable, with lots of space. The kitchen is well-eqipped the beds were fine. We were out each day walking. It was a pleasure to return to a lengthy meal with no traffic noise. Yet Cockermouth is minutes away and well provided with parking and supermarkets. Our hosts were discreet and courteous. I imagine we might return there ourselves.see more
