The location was wonderful but it smelled moldy and the cookware was very dirty. All lamps unplugged and deck furniture left inside living area upon arrival. Other belongs in bottom of closets. . Very disappointed by the mildew. Took me days to wash the smell out of everything we took inside the house. Even the luggage smelled when we returned back home days later. Not a place to hang full length garment back . Not even a hook in the bathroom or behind doors. Most inconvenient place I have ever stayed. Too bad I couldn't have slept outside on the deck...it was nice and had clean air. Read more
Thanks for your feedback. It really is a wonderful location.
The lower level of our home is below grade and holds moisture more than the upper level. I have found this to be common in mountain homes.
We changed the filter increased the setting on the dehumidifier for the lower level to address the musty smell.
All of the cookware has been washed, dried and put away.
The bedroom closets all have standard bars to hang your clothes. We'll add some hooks to make it more convenient.
The deck is quite spacious...

My husband, 3 children and I truly felt at home in this spacious, comfortable, home setting. The house is clean, user friendly and fully equipped for family living.
Lake Lure, the prime attraction, is breathtakingly beautiful and we spent many hours boating and swimming in the cool, clear water. My daughters and I enjoyed the many shopping experiences in nearby outlets while my husband and son enjoyed hiking in the wooded areas.
We are planning a return visit to "Made in the Shade" next Spring. We do lots of family vacations and found we truly loved our stay in this well appointed vacation home.
