Blackpine Inn is a fully furnished, two bedroom apartment with a homey atmosphere. Perfect for people who want to sit back and visit or stay in and cook a great meal. We are located in a quiet, residential neighborhood, and while we like everyone to have a good time, we respect the rights of our neighbors. We are approximately two blocks from main street with delicious restaurants, shopping and Olympic venues. Come give us a try, you won't be sorry.

  For anyone who hasn't been to Lake Placid, I would say that you should make this a top priority destination. We have been to many ski destinations and this one is now a personal favourite east of the rockies. Rather than the fairy tale, highly commercial village experience (e.g. Mount Tremblant) or the middle of freakin' nowhere alternatives (e.g. Jay Peak), Lake Placid is a real and vibrant village where real people live and work and recreate (e.g dogs hang out in the stores with the owners) and unlike Whistler/Vancouver you can actually use the Olympic Venues and not just worship them from afar. This brings me to my review of the Black Pine Inn, which is really an appartment owned by Glenn Mary Colby, who lives downstairs. The appartment is unpretentious and charming; a perfect representation of Lake Placid itself. It has a cathedral ceiling with exposed beams and lovely personal touches, such as the black bears theme (giant teddy bears on the bed and other bear paraphenalia throughout)and the hand-painted, funky coffee table. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a jacuzzi tub that is welcome after a long day of skiing or other active pursuits. The open porch overlooking the yard and trees is the perfect spot for afternoon cocktails. The place is also spacious and private, so it was perfect for our teenager to escape from us and vice versa at the end of the day. The location is also ideal, as it is only a few blocks away from the lake and main street, so you can park the car after returning from the ski slopes and not have to take it out again, because restaurants, bars, movie theatres, etc. are all walking distance. Be prepared that you have to climb up hill to get to these destinations, but it is a mountain village afterall, and you need to enter the master bedroom to use the shared washroom. This place is such great value that it allowed us to spend our money on the stuff that we really wanted to do, skiing and bobsledding.
