This is a new Adirondack style cottage right on Lake Placid, with views of the Lake & Whiteface Mountain, that has 2 bedrooms, and sleeps up to 4 people. The Mallard has an open floor plan that offers magnifient views of the Lake of Lake Placid and Whiteface Mountain, with full kitchen, livingroom with gas fireplace, full bath/shower, and 2 bedrooms upstairs. We stayed in this cottage, the Mallard, even before 2010 several times. It is a treat. The view of the lake and Whiteface is incredible as you rise in the morning from your bed or any other time you sit on the comfortable couch inside, out on the porch, or at the picnic table outside. The inside is functional and beautiful at the same time. Whatever season you arrive makes no difference, you will enjoy your visit. You can also feed the ducks that come to greet you. The grounds are beautifully cared for and special inside decorations and photos make the total environment relaxing and nourishing. Denise takes excellent care of you and also has information to help you get around, enjoy the area and find excellent places to dine as you wish. We have also made Room 10 our own and stay there often. The space and amenities are great and if you wish, you can also prepare your own meals. This is also true of the Mallard. We return there as often as we can to restore ourselves. We highly recommend staying at Placid Bay Inn.

Our first stay at Placid Bay Inn cottages was in The Mallard cottage in late spring. We were so impressed with the location and the cottage we decided to return for hiking in the fall. I can't say enough about the staff at Placid Bay. They made us feel right at home, and with their knownledge of the area hiking, restaurants and sights we were able to not only enjoy our trip but felt like this was a true home away from home!
When we returned in Oct. we came with other friends so we took the larger cottage- Country Comfort. Both of the cottages are very clean, well kept and appointed and right on the water with a fantastic view of Whiteface Mountain. We enjoyed and extended hike up Cascade Mountain, then returned to enjoy a peaceful canoe ride on Lake Placid. Placid Bay has canoes that are free for their guests. After a long hot shower we walked to downtown for a great meal! We picked up a bottle of wine and spent the remainder of the evening lounging in an adirondack chair right on the Lake, enjoying the beautiful sunset, friends and all the friendly ducks.
I can't say enough on how wonderful the setting, flowers, views are at Placid Bay Inn cottages. We all went home talking about when we could come back. Great stay, great place and sincerely wonderful folks!
