Description from the owner
Adjacent to the Olympic Arena and in the center of Lake Placid Village, its a wonderful spot, and a nice cottage too. It has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, full kitchen with new dishwasher, dining room, fireplace, washer and dryer, and a large living room with panaramic views of Whiteface Mountain and the Sentinel Range. A nice lawn and deck overlooks the lake and mountains. Three televisons, a DVD on the main level and wireless internet connection is provided.
First floor bedroom has two full size beds, two other bedrooms have one full size bed, and master bedroom has one queen size bed.

There is also a $300.00 cash security deposit required upon check-in and inspection of the property. This will be returned in full on departure barring no damage or excessive clean-up.

The house was a great stay for my friends and I. It was close to everything Lake Placid had to offer and was a cozy environment to relax at night. I would definitely look to stay here again the next time I visit the Lake Placid area.

The "house on the hill" was great. A fantastic location right in town, with the comfort of having more room than a couple of hotel rooms, and the ability to cook all your meals...a nice money saver. We travelled with one other couple and their teen age daughter. Overall it was really good, but right from the start, we were kind of made to feel like we were lucky to be staying there. The staff was a bit grumpy at check in, and we were very concerned about leaving the place in perfect order so we could get our security deposit back. It wasn't like we were a bunch of colllge students ready to trash the place, but we got the impression that maybe they had been burned before, and looked at everyone as if they were going to do damage. We were a couple of responsible families, trying to make a few days at Whiteface affordable. We had every intention of taking care of the place.
The place itself was great, and I think we just caught them on a bad day, but it was a bit unnerving to feel like you were being scrutinized right when you checked in.
They have a limit of 8 people, and the place could easily sleep more than that...but it was clear they did not want to exceed that quota.
There were "house rules" posted in a book in the house, and one rule was that you could not have more than 8 people on the premises at any time. We had invited some friends to stop by for a drink, before we saw that, and honestly thought that was ridiculous ...you can often have more than 8 people in a hotel room, and this was a large house!
That being said, we would go back again, but it was a little frustrating to be paying 300 dollars a night and being so scrutinized. -

We rented the Cottage for a week. The interior is a little "dated' with orange carpet on the first floor. However, it is keep up and had all my family needed to have a nice vacation. The location is perfect.

We really loved the location of this house because it is up and tucked back from the road with a stunning view of Mirror Lake, but just a walk down the driveway and you are right in the middle of town. It was the best of all worlds. It made things extremely convenient while I was there participating in the Ironman. It accomodated all of my family. Very roomy. Everyone who stayed with us was exceptionally pleased.
