We received a welcoming email from the owners when we booked online which was followed up not long before our departure to NZ. On arriving @ Lake Tekapo we thought we'd arrived in paradise. This is a lovely property, alittle rustic well equipped and comfortable( that is important to us as we like to cook and wash as we go) It was very hot in the high country so we had to keep the windows open . The views will take your breath away as you go to bed looking at the mountains and a starlit sky and wake up to the sun touching the mountain tops. The owners had left a note and came around to check that we had everything we needed. If you are going to this part of NZ; don't miss this place

Highview Lake Tekapo was a fantastic place to stay. We arrived late at night after flying from Sydney to Christchurch and the driving on to Lake Tekapo. There were two couples traveling together. As is often the case, we underestimated the time it would take to drive to Lake Tekapo. We contacted the owner to let her know that we were going to be late and that was no problem. If you're getting into Tekapo later I recommend picking up some food etc on the way as there are not many late night options in the town itself. The owner came to say hello when we arrived and she was very lovely and gave us great advice to eat at the Japanese restaurant in town (which we did another night- it was fantastic!).
When we did arrive it was dark already and waking up to look at the amazing view was I think a highlight of our NZ adventure for everyone. The view is absolutely spectacular.
The place itself is great- it fells like a lovely cozy home. Clean and with everything you could need in terms of cooking, washing etc. At that time there wasn't wi fi but that might've changed so please check if that's important to you. The owners had also left a folder with menus etc and local information.
I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for cottage accommodation in the area. It was simply stunning. -

As soon as we walked in we were wowed with the place. The fire was lit, there was a note telling us to make ourselves at home. We were greeted shortly after and was very pleased with how friendly the owner was. Great beds big rooms, beautiful views, awesome place all round. Felt like it was our own home where we could really relax and enjoy our holiday. Free washer and dryer was a bonus so we could have more clean clothes for the rest of the trip. Great advice for places to eat. Everything was great! and sent items back to us that we left behind! :) Highly recommend to all!

Loved the place, absolutely brilliant. So warm and welcoming. Was expecting to pay $158 per night as web site stated. Was charged $250 per night once we were there. When questioned about the difference was told they were having problems with Trip advisor web site. Wasn't like we could go and find somewhere else to stay being a long weekend so just had to pay the extra. Be warned, the price is different to advertised

Owner
Hi,
We would just like to state that our Highview website www.highviewtekapo.co.nz shows the price of $250 per night for 3 guests, the trip advisor site quotes us in AUD. We are trying to fix this.
We would also like to add that our guests when checked in were happy to pay the extra, had they felt this was unfair we would have been more than happy to come to some arrangement. This is why we personally meet our guests to ensure there are no problems and leave them contact details if needed at any time.
Our intention is to provide an honest and true reflection of our business as is described in our other reviews.

Theres nothing can describe the stay in highview lake tekapo. We stay 2 nights in highview lake tekapo. The scenery looking out from the house is fabulous. Lake tekapo is just right in front of th house (1min driving distance) and you also can view from the house.
The house is equipped with everything with washing machine, washing powder, cooking supplies and even condiments. Too bad we didnt have any chance to use it.
The lady owner is friendly. She brief us around lake tekapo on where to eat, what time the supermarket closes, where is the attraction etc!
Those who want to drive up to mt cook, it take about 1.5hr from lake tekapo.
Highview Lake Tekapo is definitely the highlight of my trip thought its kinda of ex! -

This is a good choice for touring in the Lake Tekapo region. The apartment is up a hill and has good views. The two bedrooms were OK for our two day stay, a party of four, and the open plan living room/kitchen/dining area was well equipped. My only gripe is that the property was advertised on Trip advisor and Flipkey as 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, but the second "bathroom" was a toilet in a cupboard.
I see that the owner has now altered this on Flipkey but it is still wrong on Trip advisor.
Parking is right outside the entrance and the accomodation is all on one level. -

We stayed for four nights and could not have had better accommodation in Tekapo. The local walks and a visit to Mt Cook National Park and visitor centre , Mt John observatory and the circular hike around it, the night sky, the lupins, all contributed to a brilliant stay. Highview is a good base for all of these things.Margarets lovely garden to look out over and the helpfulness all round in this fully equiped house. Everything was included in the house.

First impression set the mood for the stay, and it was fantastic, lovely set up home with all the cooking supplies you need, even ground coffee for the plunger is supplied,we didnt turn on the tv because the view was amazing out the huge front window we just stared out the window until the sun set then watched the stars of the night, beds are like sleeping on clouds with quality through out ,loved the open plan a frame house, everything was perfect.just wish we stayed longer as it was just a stop over to Queenstown,suggestion...drop a day of Queenstown trip and stay an extra night at Tekapo its a beautiful place and this house is the place to stay when there.

Magical weekend – we extended an extra night. I arrived exhausted and on leaving felt completely recharged, this is the perfect appartment to relax while enjoying the truly breathtaking view of Lake Tekapo and the alpine range.
The apartment is modern and spacious, well decorated (the curtains are gorgeous), with a fully equipped kitchen, fresh flowers and the wonderful bed & linen made it feel like dreamland. It was great to have the courtyard on one side with Barbarque and balcony on the other-side with views over the well created high-country gardens, this met we could enjoy the sun far both angles – awesome sunsets.
The cheerful hosts, Mark and Jane are happy to share ideas of things to do and then leave you to kick back and enjoy; our friends and my partner had a great day on the local ski field.
Absolutely Perfect – we will be back next year. -

We just visited south island during the Easter 2011 break...booked up this 2 bedroom apartment as they looked great in pictures. Well it was really a pleasant surprise the moment we walked in. Absolutely gorgeous open-aired apartment with a fantastic view of perfect blue Lake Tekapo and plenty of sunlight. The lady owner even dropped by checking up personally whether we needed anything as well as recommending few eatery places and things to do around. The apartment was neat and clean and completely well-equipped. The best part about it was the night time. I must have never seen sooo many stars at the same time. It was just magical. Its just a 2 minute drive or a 5-10 minutes walk from the town centre and quite reasonable as we were two couples and it cost us $290...which was just $145 per couple. Great value for money!
