Cove House is ideal for two or a group of six. It is located half way between Bar Harbor and Ellsworth, in Marlboro, the quiet side of Lamoine.

Waterfront with views of Acadia Mountains. Cove House is a great place to stay when you visit renowned Acadia National Park. From the comfortable deck, you have views of Raccoon Cove, Frenchman Bay, Acadia's Schoodic Point and the mountains of Acadia.

Enjoy Maine's natural beauty and the many attractions it offers while staying in this comfortable log cottage. Cove House sits on a bluff about 25 feet above the Cove. It has a spacious, open-floor plan - a great room with cathedral ceil...ing and two stories of windows with panoramic views. Satellite TV, stereo, DVD player, and HughesNet high speed Internet. Dining area and fully-equipped kitchen provide everything you need for a pleasant eating experience.

In addition, a queen bedroom and a twin bedroom, fresh linens, a full bathroom with laundry facilities, lots of fluffy bath towels and beach towels, round off the first floor. French doors lead to the deck and the comfortable porch.

The second floor has master suite with king bed, dresser, desk, satellite TV, large walk-in closet, and plenty of room for a crib and pack-and-play (provided as needed). The bathroom has a large jetted tub and separate shower. A hall closet holds linens, towels, extra bath rugs, puzzles and games. A loft overlooking the living room has comfortable seating and is ideal for board games, puzzles, chess or just reading a good book, available at your fingertips.

A bench overlooking the water is the perfect spot to sit and enjoy the expansive views of the mountains of Acadia to the South, Frenchman Bay and the Schoodic Peninsula to the East, and Hancock Point and Marlboro Beach to the Northeast. There is access to the shore at only one spot on the property to protect the delicate vegetation and prevent erosion.

Children are welcome. A low allergen environment is maintained by keeping the property smoke- and pet-free.

Radiant heat on the first floor for cool Fall days keeps you warm and cozy as you walk around barefoot. The second floor has baseboard heat and warm wood floors.

Cove House is 15 minutes from Ellsworth - the main city of Hancock County. Visit the Ellsworth Chamber of Commerce for more information. Grocery stores, cinema, LL Bean, Reny's, Marden's and other specialty shops, hospital, restaurants, trails, a town marina on the Union River, tennis club, hair and nail salons and therapeutic massages are all available as needed.

Acadia National Park is 20 minutes away in Mount Desert Island (MDI). Bar Harbor is 10 minutes from there, and the other lovely towns of MDI offer famous gardens, vistas, restaurants, and things to do for everyone to enjoy.

Other areas nearby include beautiful Schoodic Peninsula (part of Acadia National Park) near Winter Harbor and Prospect Harbor. Blue Hill, a few miles west of Ellsworth. Visit Cape Rosier and cross Eggemogin Reach to Deer Isle and Stonington, a charming fishing village with views of islands, lobster boats and kayaks galore.

On Mount Desert Island, go on a whale watch, kayak, ride a bike, ride a horse, hike, climb, relax, take an evening cruise on a schooner and watch the sun set, enjoy classical music performed by visiting renowned musicians, motor in a lobster boat and learn about those delicious crustaceans. Eat, read, rest, hike, kayak, shop, sleep and enjoy!

The zoo is 6 miles away and has native animals (bear, moose, deer) and more exotic fare. One mile from Cove House is a pond where children enjoy splashing around (limited parking). At Cove House there is a granite outcropping at water level where our guests can sit and watch their children enjoy the water (it is cold!). Area restaurants are child-friendly with hamburgers and hot dogs to boiled lobster and other seafood. Acadia is great for children with easy to difficult trails and hikes. Cove House is located at the end of a cul de sac off Pasture Way, on a bluff overlooking Raccoon Cove. There is a path that leads to the beach, which has grasses and sea lavender. The two granite outcroppings are perfect for sitting and tanning while enjoying the sea breezes and keeping an eye out for an eagle looking about for fish. The cottage is removed from the hustle and bustle of Mount Desert Island and Ellsworth. It is a well-treed area with lupines and other flowers. A bench near the water is a great place to enjoy the sun and moon rises.

June - Stay for one week at $1,500. Second and third weeks at $1300 each. July and August - Stay for one week at $2,000, your second and third weeks at $1,800 each. September - Stay for one week for $1,500. Second and third weeks for $1300 each. Includes cleaning. Taxes 7%.
Returning guests pay the rate they had the previous year. Second and third weeks discounted.

  My family had a wonderful stay in this capacious, well-designed, sparkling-clean house on a bluff overlooking Raccoon Cove. Every day was breezy-- we loved the sound of wind in the poplars. There are hummingbirds outside the windows. You can kayak around the Cove--we saw eagles when we did it. For biking the location is perfect, whether you want to hop on a bike and ride from the house over the virtually car-free roads of Lamoine, or want to drive the half hour trip to Mt. Desert Island and bike the (car-less) carriage trails there. Mdi is close enough to enjoy in day-trip doses, but the house is also convenient for exploring the Blue Hill area, places like Schoodic Point (part of acadia National Park on the mainland) and the town of Ellsworth. We felt like we were really at home in Maine, and not just slogging along with the tourist flow. Lynda and Chris are extremely responsive, friendly landlords. I would love to come back to Cove House!

  We stayed at the Cove House last year and had to extend our stay when Hurricane Irene hit. Lynda was wonderful and readily arranged for a crib and highchair for our 10-month old. The house is well-maintained, well-stocked and beautiful. Oh, and the king bed and jacuzzi are great! The house is secluded and has beautiful water views. Just keep in mind that being private means it is away from town - 10/15 mins to Ellsworth and 20 mins to Bar Harbor. Overall a relaxing vacation in a comfortable home.

  Comfortable, attractive, well-maintained cottage in a quiet, scenic location. Many amenities and opportunities for privacy within the house; it feels like a second home shortly after you settle in. The cottage is convenient to all the major attractions of the area but far from the crowds of tourists that come to the Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park area.
