Washington, DCCome Here To Relax
Left on 10/02/2012 for a stay in September 2012
We came for a few days in September and thoroughly enjoyed it. The carriage house is off the beaten path and tucked away in a quiet area of the country. The peace and quiet was great. The house itself is perfect for just a few people with plenty of space to spread out, cook a meal, play some pool, and relax. We brought our 17 month old daughter and she enjoyed running around the house and in the yard outside.
I'd highly recommend the place for a couple or like us with only one very young child. It might not be the best fit for older kids or those with multiple kids. However, it's a great escape for those needing to get away from it all.
We'll return! -

Manchester, United KingdomPerfect ! - Great House. Great Setting. Great Hosts. Great Time!
Left on 09/25/2012 for a stay in August 2012
During a long road trip up from New Orleans we had planned to stay in Pennsylvania for a four day break from our driving. We had seen the great reviews of the River Edge Carriage House in England and thought that it sounded just what we were looking for. The booking process was easy and we looked forward to our visit.
On our arrival we could not believe just how perfect everything was. The converted Carriage House was immaculately presented with everything that you could want. The loft bedroom and very spacious downstairs accommodation was perfect to give us all a bit of space after our long journey. The furniture, equipment and linen was all of a high standard and very comfortable. The grounds and setting are amazing. The river setting and views beyond, absolutely beautiful. We all really enjoyed just being able to please ourselves either kayaking on the river, swimming in the pool overlooking the river, sitting in the hot tub at night or just relaxing overlooking the armish farm.
Lieke, Brian and family made us very welcome and strike the perfect balance of being great hosts whilst allowing their guests the independence of the free run of the site as if it was their own. They and their family are very friendly, open and likable hosts and we really enjoyed meeting them all. Liam the dog also adopts the family friendliness and obviously enjoys meeting new folk. We all enjoyed playing with him in the spacious grounds.
As a base to explore this beautiful area or merely as the perfect accommodation and peaceful setting to totally relax, we would highly recommend the River Edge Carriage House. You will not be disappointed!
Thank you again to our hosts for a very special and enjoyable few days. We only had one issue - being that we could not stay for a month (at least!!). We hope to return for longer in the future. -

We just returned from a last-minute trip to Lancaster, Pa. We do venture to this area several times a year, but this time we decided to bring our dogs and try a "pet-friendly" property. The "River Edge Carriage House" is simply lovely! The location is great for all the places that we like to visit in the area, and the grounds were wonderful for the dogs. The kids loved the pool, and we all thought that the carriage house was very nice - clean and comfortable. The owners were extremely friendly and accommodating. We would head back here in a minute!!!

I can't say enough positive things about this beautiful home. The carriage house was the perfect place for our family of four (two children 4 & 6). There was a queen blow-up mattress provided for the kids which worked out well for us.
Not only are the grounds breathtaking and serene, the carriage house itself is just beautiful. The decor is perfectly rustic with all the modern conveniences. Our daughters loved the freedom of playing in the expansive yard and I enjoyed my morning walks down by the river to watch the sun rise. We enjoyed our daily visits from Liam the dog. My kids were so sad to leave him, they both cried when it was time to say goodbye.
The location of the property is a convenient 15-20 minutes from everything Lancaster has to offer. After a busy hot day at Dutch Wonderland and touring the area, we felt so lucky to be able to come back to this beautiful home and take a dip in the well maintained pool instead of a cramped hotel.
Lieke and Brian are wonderful hosts and made sure that all of our expectations and needs were met. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a private, cozy and beautiful get away. We will be back! -

We had a wonderful time at the Byler's carriage house!!! The property was simply beautiful and the owners were nothing but gracious, kind, and so accomodating for our unique family situation. The carriage house immediately felt like home and was completely outfitted with everything one could need including laundry detergent and cooking condiments! All bases were covered and we couldn't have asked for anything more. I can't wait to go back!!! Thank you Byler Family!!!

I was looking for a country escape for the weekend from the hustle and bustle of the city and just to take a break from life, some where I could bring my dog to run and swim and just unwind.
Wow, did I hit the jackpot! This cottage was private, beautiful, quiet, and serene. I definitely will return! Each morning I sat down on the river bank drinking my coffee listening to the cows from the nearby farm moo, lol. It was great being able to let my dog roam, no leash required. I came back feeling like a million bucks!
This place gets two huge thumbs up from me! Loved it!! The property owners where super friendly, very accommodating and helpful with other spots I could go to take the dog swimming and walking. Thank you guys so much for the wonderful weekend, I got everything I was looking for in a relaxing weekend from your place!!! -

We've booked stays like this for 10 years of vacations and this house was one of the best!!! So clean and comfortable with great furnishings and anything you need to cook. No dirty or scary pots and pans, lots of dishes and glassware and the only place we've ever stayed at that had charcoal on hand for the grill. The billiard table was really a treat to have!! The bedroom was so well furnished as a suite upstairs. A quiet area and close to Lancaster, Lititz and wineries. The owners were very nice people and take pets so we brought ours along. Don't think twice about staying here!! We enjoyed the chairs outside to relax and chill out. They thought of everything for you to be comfortable. No complaints from us! Thanks to the Bylers.

We enjoyed our stay at the river edge carriage house. It is exactly what is shown on the pictures or even better. We almost stayed at a nearby hotel but our stay was outstanding and it does not compare to a hotel. It is private, super clean and cozy. Our 2 year old loved to run around and enjoyed watching the dog in the morning. We walked to the nearby river and enjoyed the views of the farm and animals. It was exactly what we were looking for! It is close to everything and we will definitely come back! It was booked last minute. Thanks for an amazing stay and flexibility!! will see you again soon!!

Thank you so much for a wonderful (albeit brief) stay last week. I honestly don't quite know where to start. The carriage house is as lovely as the pictures show, if not better. It is spotless, finished with beautiful attention and detail, and oh so comfortable. The grounds are gorgeous, and add the overall beauty. Thank you so much for having us Lieke and Bryan, we had a delightful stay!

Left on 05/29/2011 for a stay in May 2011
This was the most charming carriage house, authentic post & beam, you can even see where the
carriage doors were at one time. We enjoyed our stay tremendously. Your two dogs are very adorable. Samee, our dog, enjoyed Liam & Shilo it was like a special vacation for her too! Ithink Samee would love to have Liam around all the time
she had so much fun playing & running with him.
We enjoyed the property, the beautiful views, the working amish farm across the river and the bounus of an amish family building a home across the road. The carriage house was so relaxing, and much larger than I imagined,I found myself looking at all the details of the structer while I sat in the living room. It was like a five star resort with much more privacy without the price. We (and Samee) would love to return. Thank you for all your hospitality.

Dear Sue, Tom and Samee,
Thank you for such a wonderful review. We try hard to create a private, relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. Hearing your compliments makes us feel as though we are achieving just that.
Liam loved having Samee as a playmate! He was truly sad when she left and spent several days sitting by the carriage house waiting for her to come out.
We do hope you come back again soon!

What an incredible find in the heart of amish Country with the most gracious and hospitable hosts! The River Edge Carriage House was our home-away-from-home for a moms and daughters weekend of fun to include seven gals in our party. After much research to find the perfect setting for our pa Dutch Country experience, we stumbled upon this quaint vacation rental online. It sounded too good to be true and when we finally arrived, it far exceeded our expectations. Our hostess had prepared extra beds for our "slumber party” style stay, provided ample towels and linens for each of us, and placed a fresh fruit bowl on the table of an abundantly stocked kitchen. The grounds all around the property were beautifully manicured and the scenery of the neighboring farm from across the river was simply amazing. This charming guest house had the uniqueness and character of days gone by, but yet it offered all of the modern conveniences and comforts of home. The attention to detail and genuine thought put into the renovations were prominently displayed throughout the entire place. Our hosts were some of the nicest folks we have met and warmly greeted us upon our arrival with smiles and helpful information about the area. They were happy to provide us with anything we needed to ensure our visit was a pleasant one and even offered to give us a personal tour of the surrounding areas. The resident dog, Liam, turned out to be just as friendly and quickly became a welcomed guest at our table...well actually, "under” our table! The nearby covered bridges, horse and buggies and endless fields of plush green farmland made for a wonderfully memorable experience and one we hope to re-live in the near future. Whether it's a girls'/guys' weekend, family outing, or romantic getaway, you will not be disappointed with this delightful vacation rental. Many heartfelt thanks to our wonderful hosts and we look forward to our next visit!

This picturesque Carriage House is amazing. If you are looking for a high end experience in the midst of the most peaceful, relaxing, scenic countryside, look no further. The Carriage house is beautifully and tastefully appointed in every way from the high quality linens to the impressively well stocked kitchen. All the appliances are of excellent quality including a high capacity washer and dryer. The TV is huge and the cable includes everything you could want (including the children's networks, parents!) Beyond all of this, you feel the warmth and coziness the moment you walk through the doors. Clearly this is more than just a rental to the owners. The crickets will sing you to sleep at night and the views overlooking the creek and neighboring amish farm are simply breathtaking. The property is large with plenty of well maintained grass areas to roam, especially with little ones. My children were in heaven. The location is ideal for being close to all the Lancaster County attractions and shopping (with a very nice grocery store quite close) and yet, away from it all. My stay seemed too short and we can't wait to go back. What more can I say?
