Description from the owner

Las Galeras is placed at the end of the Peninsula of Samana.

With its white or gold sandy beaches protected by coral reefs, it is a true jewel of protected nature, one of the last exotic paradise of the Caribbean.

We propose comfortable small villas and bungalows, fully equipped, with kitchenette, sleeping room, bathroom and terrace. The houses are surrounded by a wonderful tropical garden and the access to the beach is at a walking distance.

The atmosphere is very familiar.

Some nice Italian, French or Dominican restaurants are placed very close into the center of the village and over the beaches some typical Dominica...Read more

A wonderful way to experience Las Galeras and Samana

Left on 05/04/2013 for a stay in April 2013

We spent a two nights in the acroiris Cottage as a break from Santo Domingo. We really enjoyed our time here. Michelle, the owner, is very hospitable and really wants to help you enjoy Las Galeras and the nearby beaches. She provided directions and recommendations. The location is great, one block from the main street of Las Galeras with shops and restaurants.

We found the cottage comfortable. It has recently been renovated and had colorful decorative painting through. There are four beds total. Each has a fan and mosquito netting (which actually does surround the bed). There is no air conditioning but the cottage has lots of screened windows which catch the breezes. Only quibble would be the mattress which were a bit hard, however, after a day at the beach we were sufficiently
tired for this not to be an issue. The windows were secured and there was a security guard outside in the evening. We felt safe and comfortable during our entire visit.

We cooked our breakfast in the outdoor gas stove tops. There is a also a full refrigerator with a freezer. There were all the pots, pans, knives, silver to cover our needs.

The grounds surrounding the cottage are not large but very nicely maintained. There are a number of tropical flowers, banana trees, and close cut grass. There was enough room to play badminton with the kids. My daughter loved hanging with Michelle and Gaspard's very friendly dogs.

Overall a nice two day getaway. If you want to be close to Las Galeras and experience a Dominican seaside town along with the wonderful beaches of Samana there is simply no better place.

      Tranquil and Central

Left on 03/03/2013 for a stay in February 2013

We stayed in cottage 2 for two weeks in February.

Location: Perfect. There are 3 cottages in a huge, lovely and peaceful garden full of trees and flowering shrubs. The layout of the cottages ensures good privacy. It is only a few minutes walk to town and Las Galeras beach and our two favourite restaurants were closest to our cottage -- Il Pirata and El Tainos. Grocery stores, bank, pharmacy...everything in the town is just a short walk away. The owner's home is on site. Close enough to town for convenience and yet far enough that the noise of the town (some music at night) is a world away. Las Galeras is a nice little town with warm, friendly people. There is a great little place to get chocolate croissants and excellent coffee for breakfast with wi-fi. Any excursions you may be interested in can be arranged from this town.

Hosts: Michelle and Gerard are wonderful hosts. I can't say enough about them! They were absolutely fabulous. They told us how much to spend for certain things, arranged excursions for us, and Michelle took us into town our first day to show us the best places to buy our groceries and where to eat. She also arranged to have our groceries delivered to us. She was always available to answer our questions and provide advice. She also arranged pickup and drop off for us to and from the airport. The best hosts ever!

Safety: The owners have two dogs who are wonderful and quiet, but who would alert you if there was anyone too close to the gates. Very friendly dogs and a delight to have them on premises. We had our own entrance gate which is kept locked and there is another gate also kept locked. We felt absolutely safe wondering around, even at night. Never at any time did we feel insecure.

Cottage 2: Charming, thatched roof cottage with private eating area outside and another cement patio to put beach chairs on that looks out into the garden. Surrounded by tropical foliage that contained beautiful singing frogs at night. There is a kitchen that can be opened up to the outside or closed at night to keep out the mosquitoes. Bathroom with shower, living area and an upstairs loft where we slept. We found that we had everything we needed for cooking. There is a cook top and full sized fridge There is no TV or air conditioning, but the huge ceiling fan in the bedroom kept the place cool. Cottage was very clean -- thanks Rosa! Rosa came in every day or every other day and changed our sheets several times. The stairs are a bit steep which we had no problems with, but anyone with mobility issues should stay in lovely cottage 3 where everything is on one level. The only negative was that we found the bed uncomfortable. It was a very firm mattress which some might love so I think it depends on what you like.

Other: There were some problems with the wi-fi while we were there, but Michelle was getting that fixed. We did get some mosquito bites so we recommend bug spray and keeping the doors closed from about 6 in the evening on. We would recommend this place to anyone who wants something different from the all-inclusive resort experience. You can easily get to the beautiful Playita beach from this accommodation and Rincon is a quick boat ride away.

      Absolutamente Perfecto!

Left on 02/28/2013 for a stay in January 2013

This is a hidden gem! We stayed at LaBellaventura in Las Galeras for 10 days for our honeymoon. First things first- we traveled across the country of DR and the city of Las Galeras was by far the most spectacular. If you plan on staying in Las Galeras for a long period of time I highly recommend LaBallaventura. It is very affordable and Michelle is extremely helpful. The small bungalow is plenty room for 2 people to cook, relax, sleep and drink delicious rum. While the property is not directly on the beach, it is right around the corner to the main beachfront. Also if you walk about a half mile to La Playita you will enjoy one of the most beautiful serene beaches I have ever seen. Snorkeling, swimming and coconut rum drinks all day. Also never crowded. The city is a hidden gem and Labellaventura is a hidden gem- I almost regret writing this review already because I want this place all to myself.
This is not a resort. Stay here if you want to experience the city as a local, Michele will help you with everything like buying groceries and even act as your Spanish professora. Bella the black lab will keep you safe and Rosa will make sure you always have fresh clean towels. I highly recommend Labellaventura and plan on returning soon!
      Nic

Difficult to say what I liked best in this rental. Probably the best memory is of Michelle the owner who was so welcoming it felt like family. There are several bungalows to choose from and all are tastefully decorated and cleaned everyday. We cooked for ourselves but ordered freshly made fruit juice every morning. Perfect.

They help you for everything and make you discover places you could not find alone in your guides. the nature in the surroundings is magic. The beaches lovely. There are lots of activities to do. The bedrooms are very comfortable, clean and very nice. The garden is lovely. We would like to come for sure as soon as possible.
