This is a free-standing villa located on a hilltop that is above the palm grove leading to the ocean, giving unrestricted views. It is 600 meters from the beach called Playa Coson, 1000 meters from the beach Playa Bonita, and three kilometres from Las Terrenas. The 360-degree views are phenomenal, looking over the ocean in one direction, and the mountains in the other. The private swimming pool has a 40-foot curved vanishing edge that capitalizes on the ocean view. The villa is over 4000 square feet and located on a 9500-square-meter ( 3 acres) of land. My family and I (including 3 kids age 8-14) rented the house for one week during spring break in 2012 and one of the best vacations ever. The house is very unique with its outdoor living space and absolutely beautiful. The view of the atlantic and some small islands out the back over the pool is spectacular and the amenities are comfortable and nice. The infinity pool is fantastic. The kids loved swimming up to the edge of the cliff, and had some great jumping pictures with the palms and ocean in the background. Bien and Moreno are as helpful and nice as can be. Bien is a very good cook - definitely ask her to cook some local meals for you. Her cooking is better than the restaurants! Las Terrenas, and the Samana Peninsula, are a great place for a vacation. The beaches at Playa Colon and nearby Playa Bonita are top notch with very low crowds, and the beaches in Las Terrenas are excellent if you want more action, like restaurants on the beach. We hardly saw any tourists. The new highway from Santo Domingo makes the area accessible by car in about two hours. You'll need a rental car to see the area. The house would not be good if you have small kids (the bedrooms are separated by stairs and the pool area) or do not appreciate a few lizards and frogs in the outdoor living area (we liked it). If those aren't issues for you, you'll never forget this vacation!

Went there for a weekend, but wish I could have stayed longer. The house is gorgeous and the view is spectacular. A well thought design and distribution of the house, with an open living room with the pool just in front and out, to have a midnight swim watching the stars. From every room you have a beautiful view of the Coson coast line and beach. Well located, close to all the attractions in Terrenas.
A must visit place I will surely repeat. -

we have been to this amazing house a couple of times and are planning our 3rd stay for our summer vacation. we are so excited!
this home is stunning. it is so comfortable to be in and such a joy to hang out and laze around in the sun or in the shade overlooking the gorgeous view.
there are many days where we have not wanted to leave the house, it's heaven to be there...
Scott and Jan are super friendly and if you ever have a chance to share a beer, do so. they are great company and have lots of great insights to the area for you to visit.
Bien is a darling and will cook you up a delicious meal if you ask her.
Moreno and his family who live on the grounds are super lovely...Israel their son, is great company for any young kids who visit!

We have been going to Villa Mashek for the past 5 years and we love this house! Our daughters really look forward to going back every time. The view overlooking the water from the living room is amazing. It is like being in paradise. The staff that work there is very helpful and they go out of their way to make you feel at home. There is a cool four wheeler they have for a small fee for you to ride around town. I highly recommend this place.
