After working many hours during September for fiscal year closeout, I needed a getaway to rest and recharge. I decided to go to Las Vegas and attend a golf school and enjoy somne nice restaurants and a few shows along the Strip. Being older (60), I was not interested in staying in a casino-hotel along the Strip with hte non-stop noise and drunkeness that generally accomanies those places. But, I did not want to be so far away that it would be a burden to get to the activities that attract people to Las Vegas in the first place.
This townhouse fit the bill on nearly every count. It is just a couple of blocks east of the Strip, between Flamingo and Desert Inn Roads, so it is a very short drive to all the 'action', yet it is in a very quiet, access-controlled community. There are countless restaurants, banmks, shopping centers, grocery stores and other essentials within a few blocks. The largest sports book in Las Vegas (LVH) is just two blocks north on Swenson Road. The University of Nevada-Las Vegas (Unlv) is only two blocks south of the unit, so it would be ideal for someone attending an event at the Thomas & Mack Center or anywhere on campus. It is a very short trip to the airport, less than five minutes.
The unit is two-story, with a nice well-equipped kitchen and laundry room, dining area, living room and half-bath downstairs. The two bedrooms and full bath are upstairs.
The master bedroom has a very large walk-in closet and dresser with a large king bed. The bed's mattress is very high, so short guests might have trouble getting in and out of it. I'm 5'8" and had to jump to get in and out.
The second bedroom has a queen bed and a mirrored ceiling. I found both mattresses to be comfortable, but the master was more comfortable to me as well as being a bit more quiet.
One of my favorite touches was the hot tub on the patio, which I used often after a full day on the golf course to soothe tired muscles.
