“A Little Taste of Heaven” This was our 8th trip to the Resort, and have stayed in this condo the last 5 years...What a wonderful place to stay and get some rest & relaxation. The resort is beautiful & there's always something to see & do if you wish. The condo is all you can possibly want - large & airy, well-furnished and a great kitchen! The views are spectacular and you feel as if you are the only ones there. The privacy of this unit is great - yet you're close to everything - firepit by the water, pool, hot tub, tennis courts, bbq patio and even a kiddie play area. During our month here we saw pods of whales, seals, otters, hummingbirds & lots of eagles from our balcony. We even went clamming @ low tide and had 3 feasts of crab caught off the end of the dock! What more could you ask for? This place is what we consider a little taste of heaven on the west coast, and after a month here, returning to ONtario makes us look forward to returning again next spring.

“Peaceful Oasis” We had the extreme pleasure of staying at Patricia and Scott's condo. What a magical place. The location could not have been better. Waking up in the morning with the ocean alongside the master bedroom and then spending the day gazing out at the unobstructed views. It took me an hour to jealously wander about the condo in awe of all of the perfect details. Everything was though of - you could easily host a dinner party for 8 here and not be missing a thing. We have stayed at the most exclusive resorts on the Island, but never have we felt as if we were truly coming "home" when we returned to our suite, like we did here. We have adopted the condo, and I have adopted the perfectly situated chaise lounge for hours of reading and gazing. It is dead quiet, with lots to observe in the ocean... that bay is always changing. We did a short (6km) hike nearby and strolled on the beach. Dug up and steamed clams as well as shucked oysters off the beach and pan fried them. Cannot wait to return! Thanks Patricia and Scott! Tanglewood Beach House - West Coast Living at its best.

Parksville house

  • 2 bedrooms
  • 2 bathrooms

“Woodland setting and close to ocean, but still close to all amen” I have stayed at a lot of different rental properties and can honestly say that the Tanglewood Beach House is one of the best I have stayed at. They have a great book that the owners created outlining the area and what there is to do. It also includes a reference guide for the condo on simple things but things that if you don't live there you wouldn't know how to turn certain things on/off and which remote does what. The kitchen also has everything you need to cook with.

“Bliss!” You won't be disappointed with this lovely condo. The view is spectacular with amazing sunrises and sunsets, the fresh scent of sea air and the accomodation is terrific. There's lots of room to spread out and enjoy. This was our second year at this condo and we decided that we'll be regular visitors year after year - it's just that good! We find that we can't help but unwind and relax here and each visit we plan to spend at few days on site (instead of venturing out) taking in the sea, relaxing beside the pool or having a swim and beach combing! Roz has thought of everything in the unit so you just need to bring your personal effects and you'll be well taken care of. The unit is very clean, beds and pillows are comfortable and there's no traces of pets from previous visits. The complex is very well maintained with a playground for the little ones, tennis court, several patios with Weber bbqs for everyone to use, pool and hot tub, poolside lounge chairs as well as tables and chairs, firepit, dock for your boat or perhaps fishing, even a herb garden. Looking forward to next year already!

“We'll be back!” If you're looking for someplace with attentiveness to all the details and more, Ele's Escape is it! Pet-friendly was my first clue it would be wonderful. But I had no idea the food would be so spectacular, the guest room filled with unexpected fun and comfort ( think amazing chocolate, homemade cookies, soft robes and lots more...). The bed was soo soft and cozy, the ocean within view and a 1 minute walk and the hosts incredible. Informative, welcoming and fun, they are some of the best we've experienced. A fantastic place to rejuvinate and play! Click on that reserve button and give yourself (and your pup!) a great gift! Mary M.

About Nanaimo

Known as the “Harbor City”, Nanaimo is home to the main ferry terminal linking Vancouver Island to the mainland. With a boldly revitalized commercial district and a delightful waterfront, it’s worth spending a day or two here before venturing off into the wilds. For Nanaimo accommodation to suit all budgets, FlipKey has got you covered.

About Nanaimo

Found on the south-central east coast of Vancouver Island, Nanaimo is the second-largest city on Vancouver Island, after Victoria.

Built around a secluded harbor, this area has seen many upgrades since the 1990s, including a museum full of informative and interactive exhibits that tell the city’s history. Check it out!

Named after the native Snuneymuxw First Nation tribe, Nanaimo was first discovered by Spanish explorer Juan Carrasco in 1791. By the mid-half of the 19th century, the Hudson Bay Company established coal mines in the area. Coal remained the region’s main export until lumberjacking took over in the 1960s.

Today, Nanaimo is focused on the tourism industry, and has built a state of the art cruise terminal where cruise ships from Seattle stop off on their way to Alaska.

Ferry passengers arriving from Vancouver are also encouraged to spend time exploring Nanaimo before setting off on their Vancouver Island adventures.

What to do

Sitting comfortably between the Strait of Georgia and the forested peaks of Vancouver Island, Nanaimo offers the urban pleasures of a city with the recreational opportunities of the great outdoors.

In other words, visitors have the best of both worlds to select from. Start your day in Nanaimo with a walking tour of the city, combining the smart downtown shopping with the picturesque Harborfront Walkway.

While on the water, why not try fishing? There are plenty of charter operators who offer full and half-day salmon fishing trips. Rainbow trout fishing is available not far from downtown at Diver Lake and with it being a stocked facility you are almost certain to catch a fish.

Another fun activity for the entire family is crabbing from the main fishing pier in the harbor.

Golfers have 19 courses within a one hour drive of Nanaimo, while nature lovers can go bird watching at Buttertubs Marsh, or hike up Mount Benson.

Top Nanaimo travel tips

The best time to visit Nanaimo is during the dry summer months and, while the climate around Nanaimo is temperate, you can expect plenty of rain throughout the rest of the year.

When arriving at the ferry terminal, be sure to pick up a free guide to Nanaimo and the surrounding area. It’s full of helpful hints and maps to make your visit to Nanaimo the best it can be.

If visiting Vancouver Island for the fishing, the most productive months for salmon are during the spring and fall migrations.

With so much to see and do within a two-hour drive of Nanaimo, it’s not just the gateway to Vancouver Island, but an exciting destination in its own right. Consider making Nanaimo your base for a Vancouver Island vacation by renting one of the many properties available on FlipKey.

Nanaimo Harbourfront Townhome
Best. Rental. Ever.

If you’re considering a stay anywhere on Vancouver Island, then you have found your home away from home in this amazing vacation rental. It’s not to often you find a rental property with the level of detail, proximity to everything you might need for a short (or long) stay, and owners who are responsive and attentive, that, in total, makes this rental experience one of the best you can expect… anywhere. Whether you’re cooking at home in the fully stocked kitchen, relaxing around the house with water views from every window, taking a nap on either one of the uber comfortable beds, grilling up some lunch on the front patio, or just reading a book underneath the perfect reading lamp with the fireplace on, the owners have thought of every detail you might want or need during your stay. Even if you’re thinking about going crabbing, one of the must-be-done things to do while you’re in Nanaimo (especially since the pier is just a quick 2 minute walk from the home), you’ll find the crab traps and all the equipment you need to (hopefully) catch yourself some dinner. Location doesn't get more central than this. It’s an easy walk to the grocery store, restaurants, downtown Nanaimo, park, coffee shops, farmers markets (over summer), crabbing pier, and don’t forget the ice cream shops. And since the harbor is right out your door, you can also walk to the many ferries that take you to some of the other smaller islands in the area. And having Harbour Air Seaplanes just a stone’s throw away means you can quickly, easily, and conveniently visit Vancouver, Tofino, Whistler, and many other must-see places in British Columbia, all from simply walking out your door and jumping onto a plane. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this vacation rental, and will definitely be back. We’ve never met friendlier, more responsive, or more attentive owners than Harry and Tammy, and are sure that if you choose to stay here, you can expect nothing less than an amazing stay.see more
NEW BEACHFRONT CONDO - ULTIMATE UNOBSTRUCTED VIEWS
Right on the Water - Summer 2012

We were four adults with two grown children staying for four nights. The condo had everything we needed for a long weekend. The kids sleep in the front room on the huge leather furniture and sleeper bed. The windows allowed for great water and shore views. The location was perfect being far enough from the surrounding towns which were fun to drive into for a restaurant meal or groceries. Patricia meet us and made us feel at home right away with a glass of wine and a plate of cheese and fruit. From the games, cd's, and the binoculars Patricia thought of everything. We all loved sitting on the large porch in the comfortable chairs and throws. A few night some of us fall asleep listening to the tides coming in and going out. On the last evening we had the great luck to watch a family of Orca's swim up the large body of water in front of the condo. We would differently come back in the future.see more
