      Restful & Beautiful Place

Left on 09/30/2012 for a stay in September 2012

From the moment that we started our correspondence with Paulette to organise our holiday we felt that we were more than just customers. In fact she granted a postponement because she understood our circumstances and we had the good fortune to visit her wonderful Moulin recently. The biggest issue is that you need a car to do the sightseeing but you are so tempted by the Mill & the pool in the glorious weather that you resist going too far afield. A very restful & peaceful setting with all the amenities that you could ask for! Thanks Paulette!

      A tranquil retreat

Left on 07/15/2012 for a stay in June 2012

There are not enough words to describe how much we enjoyed our stay at Salazar. The setting is superb with extensive grounds to wander round. Paulette has tried to think of everything that a guest is likely to need and in this she has achieved her aim. We stayed in one of the first floor apartments with lovely views across the fields in one direction and over the grounds in the other. The pool is kept absolutely spotless and cushions for the sun beds were the best we have ever come across being thick and comfortable. Paulette works extremely hard to ensure that the grounds are kept immaculate. The river that runs through the property is teeming with fish and rods are available at the mill if you want to try to catch the evening meal. The apartment was spotless and had everything that we needed during our stay. We were fortunate to be visiting during the cherry and apricot harvest and we recommend buying fruit directly from the local farmers for real freshness. Toulouse is about an hour away and a trip to the Cite de l'Espace is definitely worth a visit.
We will definitely be returning to Salazar in the future.

      A wonderful place to relax

Left on 07/06/2012 for a stay in June 2012

We stayed in a 1st floor apartment. When we arrived Paulette was waiting to greet us, and was available if needed during our stay. The two of us had the fortune to be staying when the weather was glorious but the other apartments were unoccupied, so had the grounds (most importantly the pool) to ourselves. The apartment is very clean, comfortable& well furnished. We had the luxury of a balcony with table and chairs just outside the kitchen so never ate inside - as far as we could see other apartments did not have this, but there are many sets of table/chairs scattered around the grounds, for use as needed. There is (unfenced) water all around the mill, home to many fish, dragonflies, birds, and red squirrels were also seen. (Young children would need careful supervision, not just because of the water, but also the road, as there is no gate).

A wonderful stay, lots of reading and relaxing done. The town of Lauzerte, perched on a hill, has a lovely square for a coffee and the nearby supermarket is very handy.

      Fantastic

Left on 06/12/2011 for a stay in May 2011

This was our first time visiting and we were enchanted at first sight! The water mill is exquisite and the surrounding scenery is breathtakingly beautiful. Paulette is a fantastic host and its her attention to detail that makes your visit extra special!!

There is lots to do on site and the children have had a fantastic time swimming in the pool, playing boulles, table tennis and exploring the grounds and are already asking when we can go back and can't wait to come back!!!

There are some lovely villages in the surrounding area that have fantastic markets and something for everyone. we know that French food is good and this is proven in the local produce at the markets and very good restaurants close by. Take a visit and we are sure you will be very pleasantly surprised at the beauty of rural France. Le Salzar tres bien!

Idyllic setting, huge, light modern apartment in glorious countrys

Left on 05/25/2011 for a stay in May 2011

Salazar suited us well, idyllically situated in lush grounds, full of birds and butterflies, full of shady spots to enjoy that picnic ,romantic supper or just read a book.I had never been to this area before but it stole my heart, the different light, the little fields planted to the very edge with fruit and veg, amazing wildlife and historic small towns maintained with such civic pride. We shopped in the markets, brought it back to Salazar and banqueted ,sipped a late glass of wine on our private balcony overlooking the mill stream as the sun went down and listened to the frogs chorus..Paulette is charming, a very good hostess and obviously has a lot of returning guests,we will be coming back too, thanks Paulette for a magical few days.

Idyllic peaceful watermill in stunning location

Left on 05/14/2011 for a stay in July 2010

Counting down the days until we are there again this summer!
This is the most relaxed and happy holiday we have ever had. From the moment we arrived to a lovely welcome it was absolutely perfect. The area is beautiful and there are plenty of things to do, but loving the watermill and gardens so much, I was content to stay put a lot of the days! The gardens are lovingly kept, the pool is the most spotlessly clean I have ever seen with luxurious sunbeds, and it is so peaceful. In the evenings you can find a quiet spot in the grounds - either watching the sun go down over the sunflower strewn hills, or down by the lake, or beside the river - or have an impromptu communal party with people from the 3 other gites! Such fun!! The gite is an incredibly high standard of comfort with nothing left wanting and having an English speaking hostess was wonderful for getting excellent advice on anything we wanted to know about doing in the area.

Idyllic setting- gorgeous pool & well-equipped accommodation

Left on 04/17/2011 for a stay in September 2010

We have been back to Moulin de Salazar several times - we love it so much. It's in an idyllic setting with a gorgeous pool & well-equipped accommodation. It's perfectly placed for exploring the beautiful countryside and for visiting local markets, wineries and places to eat. The service is always excellent & nothing is too much trouble. Paulette truly is the perfect host.

A beautiful, tranquil setting with stunning countryside to enjoy

Left on 04/04/2011 for a stay in September 2009

My mother and I visited Salazar in early September. We arrived quite late in the afternoon and I was amazed at how lovely and warm it still was and we sat outside at one of the tables enjoying a chilled glass of wine & a simple salad made from locally grown produce which had superb flavour. It was so peaceful there that I soon felt that the stresses of work had melted away and we could enjoy all the surrounding areas of beauty at a really leisurely pace. All the local people were so friendly, I remember being delighted that when shopping in the local Eco Marche supermarket everyone would greet you with a 'bonjour' and I thought what a pity that this doesn't happen everywhere, it really cheers your day up.
I love wildlife and whilst I have been at Salazar I have seen many herons, red squirrels, ragondans (I'm not sure if that is the way you spell it but that's how it sounds) and also what I believe were storks flying very high.
We visited some of the local markets and I couldn't believe just how many different things were on sale from meat & vegetables, fruit, jewellery, clothes, shoes, gifts of various kinds, we could have spent hours looking round them.
There are quite a few local restaurants which serve a fabulous range of wonderful cuisine where you can dine inside or out.
Many days were spent just relaxing by the pool just reading a book or listening to the sounds of nature. I felt so refreshed once I got back home and ready to tackle everything once again.
I have made 5 visits to Salazar now and I never tire of it. Paulette always makes you feel so welcome and is always there to help if you need anything, I'm sure everyone leaves feeling like they have made a lifelong friend.

A relaxing haven and a truly special experience

Left on 04/04/2011 for a stay in June 2010

A visit to Salazar is a "must" for anyone seeking a relaxing and comfortable break away from the rush of life in general. Ideal for couples who can have their privacy or mingle with other guests if they wish to do so. Paulette is the perfect host who makes it her life's job to ensure that her guests' every needs are catered for. The accommodation is high quality and exceptionally well equipped and the location is tranquil with beautiful grounds in which guests can take meals or relax around the perfectly maintained pool. Prior to discovering Salazar, we have never returned to a holiday destination, no matter how much we liked it, as we like to see new places. However, we have found it impossible not to return at least once a year to recharge our batteries and enjoy the special experience that is Salazar. Just try it and see for yourself...

At one with nature. Walking through a sea of poppies.

      Perfect beautiful tranquility

Left on 04/04/2011 for a stay in September 2010

Salazar is the perfect place to unwind, a fabulous building in a stunning setting. Surrounded by beautiful countryside and medieval towns. Hospitality is excellent and you can tailor your holiday to suit you, you can be totally self catering or Paulette who is an excellent cook can provide meals for you. Accommodation is spacious, extremely clean and unlike other Gites I ahve stayed at I didn't need to bring towels, bedding etc. The kitchens in the Gites are fully kitted out with crockery, cutlery glasses etc with place settings for six, so if you want to cook a hearty meal you can.
Nothing is to much trouble and if your French is a bit rusty help was available when trying to book restaurants, golf courses etc. I would highly recommend a stay at Salazar.
