Our Tarn Holiday Gite is located close to Lavaur in the South of France. It was constructed in 2007. The architect-designed gite sleeps four people and has been built and furnished in a classical style to capture the relaxed warmth of the Midi-Pyrenees region. The gite has been independently assessed by Clévances who have given it 3 'keys' (stars). Clévacances assesses the gîte every 3 years in order to ensure that it continues to provide guests with a high standard of accommodation.
The gite is 4km from the medieval market town of Lavaur, approximately 45 minutes from Toulouse Blagnac Airport and 90 minutes from Carcassonne Airport.... There is a train station in Lavaur and the holiday cottage is also easily accessible by car. The gite is well positioned and there is plenty to see and do in the area.
The gite living area (kitchen, dining area and living room) is open-planned. It has a high ceiling with exposed roof beams and a spiral staircase which gives it a very spacious feeling. In the summer the French windows add to the spaciousness with views onto the terrace and garden. In the winter the wood burning stove gives it a warm and cozy feeling.
The gite has two bedrooms, one downstairs with a double bed and one on the mezzanine floor with two single beds. Both bedrooms have large built-in cupboards. An additional bed can be provided by arrangement.
The bathroom equipped with a shower - is downstairs. Although it is not designed for wheelchair access, the bathroom and ground floor of the gite are suitable for people with mobility problems. Please contact us before booking, if you have any mobility requirements.
The kitchen is well equipped with a washing machine, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, ceramic hob and oven. We are happy to provide any additional utensils if needed.
Sun lovers will appreciate the gite's two terraces: the front terrace has views onto the garden while the shaded back terrace has views over farmland, with woodland in the background.
The gite is located in the our garden, at a good distance from our house so as to allow privacy. Next to the gîte is a small orchard and renters are welcome to pick cherries, plums and apricots when these are in season.
If you are renting in the autumn, winter or spring you will find the gîte warm and comfortable. It is equipped with an electric central heating system, which uses oil-filled radiators to provide a gentle and pleasant heat. The wood-burning stove can provide additional heat and the building is well insulated and has double-glazing. All the beds have duvets and extra blankets although you will be unlikely to need them.
You can find further information on our gite on our own webpage (put Gite de Piquetalen into your search engine) and you are also welcome to contact us if you want any further information about it.Read more

Additional Location Information
Our gite is in a small rural hamlet called Piquetalen which is on the top of a hill. It is surrounded by woodland and rolling farmland which is often filled with sunflowers in the summer. Lavaur, 4 kilometres from the gite, is a small medieval town which has a large lively market on Saturdays. A wide variety of goods can be found in the market including organic foods, clothes, household goods and, on alternate Saturdays, animals. There are many good restaurants in the town and the surrounding area.
We are located in the Tarn between Toulouse and Albi. There are lots of sites of interest close to the gite including Gaillac, Carcasonne and Cordes-sur-Ciel. The gite serves as a perfect base from which to discover the beauty and history of the Tarn region of south-west of France.

Sumptuous accommodation in spectacular setting. Very handy for little trips by car or on foot, splendid hospitality from Rosette and anton, Wonderful views, monastery and theatre all within easy reach. Lavaur is a very pretty town with friendly people, great restaurants and a thriving market (There is a supermarket as well!) They even had their own Cathar massacre, which they still remember.

This is a really well-equipped holiday home, clean, modern and bright. I didn't feel that anything was lacking in amenities or furnishings. The owners were very friendly and helpful.
Lavaur is a beautiful little town, with some interesting places to visit, such as the lovely church. It is also on a good road to visit other sites of interest, such as Carcassonne and the Millau viaduct. It is also within an easy drive of an excellent golf course.
If you don't want to move or visit anywhere, the home is set in charming countryside, very quiet and peaceful.

The gite is bright and modern, in a private garden, with one double and one twin bedded room - ideal for a family. Each bedroom has plenty of storage space - often lacking in older gites. Best of all, the kitchen is very well equipped with coffee maker, dishwasher, microwave, and plenty of pots and pans for those who wish to cook for themselves. Outside there is a private patio with sun loungers and a barbecue. Rosette and anton couldn't have been more helpful. The location is convenient for getting to Toulouse (about one hour's drive away). There are beautiful gardens nearby, as well as albi, with its impressive cathedral. Further afield are Carcassonne and Foix - about 2 hours' drive away. An ideal base for exploring Cathar country and lovely to return to after a hard day's touring.

The gite was great; just the right size for the three of us. The gite contained everything we needed (even a dishwasher!).
The veranda was very useful. The weather was also lovely as well as the surrounding area. The host and hostess were very customer orientated.

the booking was all very easy. the information given was easy to follow. the gite was easy to find. we were warmly welcomed by anton and Rosette when we arrived. the gite is more spacious than we expected. the location is fabulous - in a very quite area, with a sun terrace at the back of the gite. the gite is well equipped, including a Morso Squirrel woodburning stove to add extra warmth if needed.
the area is a really interesting one. Lavaur is only 3km away and it is a nice town. it is not far to albi, Toulouse or even to the Pyrenees (about 50miles). Anton and Rosette are perfect gite hosts. they are welcoming and happy to talk and they are also happy to leave you alone as well. the gite is in the garden of their house but the garden is big and you are separated away from their house by trees and bushes so you feel quite private. they are helpful with local information. i wanted to hire a bike to cycle around the area and they guided me to a bike shop in Lavaur which was very helpful.
if you like cats, so do they and they have three lovely cats - but they aren't allowed in the gite, so if you don't like cats you can just ignore them. we would be very happy to return, and with the upstairs bedroom there is room for us to bring our daughter and to have plenty of space.
one of the best gites we've stayed in.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing holiday. My wife and I found the the Gite to be perfect for our needs. It is nicely furnished, clean, bright with all the modern features needed to accommodate our stay adequately and nestled in a lovely quiet village surrounded by open fields. We found the owners extremely friendly and accommodating and wiling to offer information, advice and assistance which helped make the stay all the more enjoyable.
Situated just outside Lavaur the Gite is ideally located and within easy driving distance of the key tourist sites in the Pyrenees area and we took full advantage of that spending much of our time exploring and visiting places of interest including Albi, Lourdes and the prehistoric paintings at Ariege .
We found the people in the area very friendly. Lavour is only 5 minutes drive from the Gite and provided plenty of shops, bars, restaurants, some historical sites and a number of supermarkets which provided all the provisions we needed for our stay.
We also spent some time in Toulouse which which is only 30 mins drive from the Gite and has great shopping opportunities, plenty of good restaurants and bars, historical sites and buildings and a number of museums including the Natural History Musium in which I spent a fascinating afternoon.
If your looking for a very quite, peacefully and picturesque location to spend your holiday you couldn't do any better than Gite de Piquetalen I would have no hesitation in recommending it to others had fully intend to return again myself.

Fantastic modern well-equipped holiday home let by very friendly and helpful couple who live next door(both speak French and English).Spacious airy lounge with patio doors to front provide lots of natural light.Large verandah has excellent BBQ for alfresco dining plus loungers. Lovely quiet location. Nearby town of Lavaur well served by bars and restaurants plus large supermarket where you can stock up for the BBQs.Plenty to see and do in this unspoiled corner of the Tarn:- including pretty villages, large towns like Albi and Castres with its large water park.

The Gite is the prefect holiday cottage (best one I've ever been to, and I have seen quite a few).
The hosts are the most lovely & hospitable people you can ever ask for.
The Gite is fully equipped with everything you can expect from a holiday cottage, and it will surprise you with extras you won't get anywhere else.
The Gite itself is located in the most beautiful area, where you can hike and is very close to Lavaur (2-3 minutes drive) where you can get anything you need (the French pastries are highly recommended), and access the road to anywhere in the region (we traveled all around the area from Toulouse to Albi & Castres).
Bottom line - best vacation ever!

The house is lovely, lots of light, and very functional - there is everything you need inside. The terrace at the back is very private, which was important to us, but even the one at the front is out of view of the owners' house due a cleverly located tree. Loved the sun loungers and barbecue, and the plum tree. The owners Anton and Rosette were SO welcoming and helpful, there when we needed them and leaving us to our privacy otherwise. Highly recommended.

The house is clean, light and cool (during hot summer) and has been refurnished recently. It's really more than you could dream about for a holiday house. No need to spend time washing the dishes or looking for a place to do the laundry. The house has a dishwasher and washmachine (-:
The hosts are friendly, speak perfect English and French and know a lot about what's going on in the area. Although the gite is situated in a corner of their garden the garden is so big that it feels as if you have your own. There's also a big terrasse where you can rest in the shade or have a barbecue.
The surroundings are lovely, many farms, small forests, there are plenty of opportunities for walks in the area. It's quiet but still close to a small village where you can go shopping, go out for dinner etc. In the neighbourhood there is also a small farmhouse bakery that sells organic homemade bread, croissants and cakes in the weekends. The place is so popular you have to order beforehand!

What a delightful gite in such a beautiful area of France. Simple, elegant, spacious and surrounded by such a pleasant garden. Rosette and Anton were so welcoming and the local town, Lavaur, is a delight. And the tarn area, with its Cathar connection, is a joy to explore.
