Accommodation and facilities

Situated at less than 3km from La Rochelle, the ile de Re island benefits from a very high rate of sunshine hours, equal to the Côte d?Azur. The ile de Re Island is composed of ten villages, which respect the typical architectural tradition with over 70 kilometres of coast. Truly, it is the paradise on earth. Even the houses and the streets respect beautiful uniformity: White washed walls, green or blue shutters and hollyhocks? they really make this island a unique place. Finally, e...specially created, at the limit of the continent and at the border of the ocean, the ile de Re Island offers 87 km of cycling paths which permit many visitors to discover the villages, the hamlets, the beaches, the forests, the marshes. We have chosen this superbly situated Domaine Residential De Plein Air, called Les Tamarins Plage. It is a 2* campsite with only approx 150 plots. It is situated in the heart of a natural, protected area, in the centre of the island, yet the site is situated only 500m from the beautiful sandy beach at Le Bois Plage and for that reason needs no swimming pool.

The residence offers mobile homes for 4/6 or 6/8 people which are fully equipped and are perfect for a family holiday.

Every mobile home is located on a large plot approx 120 m² with a tiled terrace with garden table and chairs and you are permitted to barbecue on your plot - you may hire a BBQ from reception.

You will find a supermarket and shops at about 1 km from the residence and bread can be delivered at the residence (please order in advance at Reception).

There is a super children's 'castle style' climbing frame and in July and August there is free day-time entertainment for example: volley ball, boules, table tennis from 9.00 to 19.30;

Due to bad reception, no TV's are available at the residence.

We can offer you 2 types of The Accommodation.

The mobile home for 4 to 6 persons has 2 bedrooms and is approx 27 m².

It is ideal for 4 people and can accommodate up to 6, baby included.

It has a living room with a double sofa bed, 1 bedroom with a double bed and a further second bedroom with 2 single beds.

The kitchenette is fully equipped with a sink, a fridge, rings, a microwave oven, and cutlery and crockery for 6.

There is a shower room and a separate toilet.

It has a terrace with garden furniture.

There is a parking place at the entrance of the site.

Linked to La Rochelle by a 3 km bridge, ile de Re island is situated in the middle of Atlantic cost, half way between Nantes and Bordeaux. For your information to cross the bridge (2008 costs): 9€ return trip from 12 september to 19 june inclusive, 16,50€ from 20 juin to 11 september. Tempory season ticket is possible.

The village of Le Bois Plage en Ré is on the southwestern side of l'Île de Ré and has 5 km of sandy beaches - Petit Sergent, Bidon, Les Gollandières, Le Pas des Boeufs, Gros-Jonc, les Gouillauds. There is a wine producers Cave (see later details for the wine Appellation Vin de Pays, Cognac and Pineau) on the edge of the village. The village prides itself on the upkeep of its forested areas and the sandy dunes. There is a wellknown and very popular daily market and local shops too. There is a centre Commercial and also a Club de plage; there is a medical centre. Other sports facilities include : Tennis (5 courts) - Volley-ball ? Horse riding Centre, Boulodrome - and surf and sailing school.
