I am a native South Dakotan and understand winter very well but was very unhappy with how the property was maintained for snow removal. Upon our arrival and not being able to get a 4x4 up the driveway, we waited a hour for the driveway to be plowed. We then had to personally shovel for 25 minutes because the front deck entry steps were buried and compacted with snow and the property was not accessible. This was not just from the overnight snow either. As for checkout, we had to notify DC about clearing the driveway and waited over 1.5 hours for them to arrive and they plow never did show. It took us 20 minutes to get (2) 4x4 vehicles down the driveway and nearly slide across the main road with one of them. I can't express enough how unhappy I was with the stay. Also, after reading the log book in the cabin its seems nearly every group that has stayed there had similar concerns this winter. I don't get how a "higher end" development like this wouldn't be taken care of better, especially a cabin with that steep of a driveway. Not only was it an inconvenience, the situation was unsafe and should be addressed. I would not ever consider staying in this particular cabin in the winter ever again.
We understand the issues with this cabin's driveway in the winter and do work hard to keep it cleared. Our check-in time is 3pm. Had we known you were planning an early check-in, we would have had it cleared for you. But we were not given notice you would be at the cabin before noon.
This winter we have had record breaking snows - we do apologize for the inconvenience you encountered with the snow.
incredible overall experience!

We had rented a different property but the management double booked that one so they had to find us a new place to stay, this property was chosen. We were already in Deadwood when this was discovered so this was sight unseen and wow, very nice. Well kept property, easy access to everything we wanted. We would definitely like an opportunity to return to the vacation property sometime in the future. Hot tub after a long day hiking in Custer State park, Mt. Rushmore, and even some geocaching on Terry Peak, definitely needed the hot tub. This would also be a nice fall/winter place to stay even if you did not ski, deck w/fireplace that is enjoyed either inside or outside the home, nice touch.

Had a great time! Cabin was great ! Driveway could use improvement. not enough hot water. internet at cabin would be a great improvement! The add did mention wi-fi at cabin and down at activity building, but did not have it at cabin! Had a great time. Didn;t stay at the cabin as much as we wanted, as too many things to do and not enough time! My wife and I may do it again next year!

We were snowmobilers. The parking was inconvenient because of the snow. The facility itself was very adequate. The hot tub was good for after a day snowmobiling. It was as enjoyable time for all. Would consider another visit.

There are eight of us, all over 50, and this was the 19th year for our "Black Hills Golfing and Gambling Extravaganza". We have, over the years moved away from the gambling and partying and enjoy all being together, cooking and drinking a few glasses of wine. This home was perfect. Very clean, roomy and accommodating. We truly enjoyed the hot tub and the large gathering areas. We would all highly recommend this home to families and large groups. We will be back!
