Located in Lemont, IL, home of the famous Cog Hill Golf Course, this home (circa 1868) has over 4000 S.F. and is now available to rent. The history of this home includes the Singer Family ( Inventors of the Singer Sewing Machine). The Singer Mansion was recently featured in the popular "Chicago Magazine" Real Estate Blog by Dennis Rodkin. It's deep rooted history has it's story told in the local Lemont History Museum and local log books. The stage is the late 1800's but with the modern conveniences of the 2013.

We were blown away when we first entered The Singer Mansion and I just loved my husbands face as we entered - it was everything we dreamed of and more-the photographs prepared us but reality was just brilliant. Every room was just full of beautiful furniture and trimmings and the bedrooms were awesome! Cyndi was great to liaise with for all the elements of our trip-our daughter lives in the us and we were attending The Ryder Cup which was only the promised 1/2 hr away from this holiday home. As a family of 5 Mum, Dad and three daughters in their early 20's, plus new son in law, grandaughter and then a few us friends came to stay on different nights-we had plenty of space and everyone was so impressed. The kitchen / diner became our friendly camp and was so welcoming, and as we had a lively 2 1/2 yr old with us-the family room provided an amazing place for her to pay in safety and comfort and there were lots of toys available. We cooked a lot as we wanted to spend time as a family and everything we needed was readily available-in perfect clean condition. Great laundry facilities-important when travelling with young women and children! We drove into Chicago several days-direct route, about 40 minutes and also so handy for the major driving routes. However the train just goes once a day from Lemont to Chicago for commuters early morning so we had to go to Downers Green about 8 miles away to get train when too many to fit in the car!! But it was not a huge issue-and we had fun on the train-very cheap for day return ticket and free parking at station-unheard of in the UK !! If our daughter stays living in the us in the same place and we all visit together as a family again-we would most certainly book The Singer Mansion again as our very first choice!
