Villas des Forges
These charming, good sized, detached holiday villas, some with private swimming pool, and each with its own garden and lovely patio, are set on the estate of the Chateau des Forges, a 110 hectare estate with its 27-hole golf course (3 x 9-hole courses), situated in an idyllic natural landscape between Niort and Poitiers in the Centre West region of the Poitou Charente. There is... plenty to do for golfers and non-golfers alike. The resort facilities include a heated outdoor pool, (May to September), tennis court, ?petanque? area, bicycles (there are some wonderful bike rides and treks to be done in the surrounding countryside), ping pong tables, darts, Dutch billiards and a kids club. There is a very nice clubhouse at the heart of the Domaine which looks over the golf course and which has a Pro-shop, a restaurant and a bar which serves snacks all day.
Set in the idyllic Domaine des Forges on the Chateau des Forges estate and golf course, these detached villas, some with private swimming pool, the others within easy access of the shared heated swimming pool, are all beautifully decorated and very well equipped. They are near the clubhouse and have superb views over the golf courses. Each villa is surrounded by its own garden (these are not enclosed) which has a lovely terrace equipped with garden furniture - table, chairs, sunloungers (some with cushions) and parasol.
The first villas of the Domaine were built in 2000. There are a total of 33 villas including 9 villas with private pools. The private pools are not heated and measure 8x4 m. The shared pool measures 12.20 x 6.10m and is heated (depth : 1.60m). It is open from 9.00am to 6.00pm, and there is also a paddling pool. The furthest distance from the shared pool to the villa area is 1 km. The pools are open from 1st May to end September.
Accommodation and Facilities
There are two types of villa available, the Villa Dive which is a 4 person villa and the Villa Vonne which is a 6 person villa. There are, in total, 17 Villa Dives and 16 villa Vonnes at the Domaine des Forges.
The larger Villa Vonne is a very stylishly decorated, fully equipped detached villa for 6 persons with 3 bedrooms and one or two bathrooms, (depending on the villa). The villa is a bungalow, with a good sized, warm and inviting living room which has an open fireplace, a sofa and armchairs, coffee table, Satellite TV and hi-fi system. In addition to the fireplace, the villa is equipped with electric heating.
The open plan kitchen is fully equipped with electric oven, 4 ring electric hob, microwave, toaster, pressure cooker, very large fridge/freezer, dishwasher and all the cutlery and utensils necessary. Some of the villas have their own washing machine, otherwise there is shared washing machine facilities near the clubhouse.
The three bedrooms each have two single beds in them, (these can be put together to make a double), bedside tables and lamps and wardrobes. There are also 2 pillows, a duvet and a bedspread in each bedroom. The bathroom has a bath with a shower head unit, washbasin. In the second bathroom, (for those Villa Vonnes with 2 bathrooms), there is a shower and washbasin. There is one WC. Sheets and towels are not included in the price of the rental, but can be hired at reception, (Please refer to Practical Info section for details). BBQs, cots, high chairs, extra beds, wood for the fireplace, extra linen, can all be hired at reception. Golf preferential rates for both adults and children can be purchased at reception. Animals are permitted in some of the villas but at an additional charge of 5 Euros per pet/ per day. There is a no-smoking policy in some of the villas.
Other outdoor facilities
Golf Information under the section local activities. Access to all the other sporting facilities at the resort are free of charge. The kids? club is open in July and August. There is a restaurant, a Brasserie, and a bar at the Domaine des Forges, which serves snacks all day everyday. Jazz evening and other ?theme? nights are regularly organised for your entertainment and wine tasting can be organised. The Domaine Kids?
