    Additional Location Information

This delightful new cottage is cheerful and bright - just like its owner who, along with her sister, is a well-known traditional Irish fiddle player. Children are warmly welcome here. A baby's cot is available on request. The front garden is a large and safe area for kids to play in. This is a strictly non-smoking property.

Baunoges Cottage is situated in a foodie's paradise with the award winning Renvyle House Hotel a mere 10 minutes away by car. If you feel like walking, the Rosleague Manor Hotel is only a five minute trek from the cottage. The village of Letterfrack is 1.5 miles from the cottage and has shops, pubs, and restaurants. The Avoca Handcrafts shop is half a mile from the cottage with a great variety of clothes, handcrafts, books, cds and kitchenware. Kylemore Abbey is less than ten minutes drive with beautiful landscaped gardens, and pretty walks around the abbey and its lakes. Killary Harbour and Leenane is a little further towards Westport. It is eight miles from Clifden, the capital of Connemara - a great place to go for food and to listen to some traditional Irish music. You can always take the Sky Road Drive out of Clifden, with its breathtaking views across to Slyne Head and Ballyconeely. Inishbofin is a day trip and reachable by a ferry that leaves Cleggan every morning and evening - give yourself 20 minutes to get there as the roads can be busy during the summer. There are many fine sandy beaches in the area - just ask and I'll be happy to direct you to a few hidden gems. At the right time of the year, you can also walk the shore and collect cockles & mussels - a lovely meal in itself. Connemara National Park is practically on the doorstep, with a variety of walks to suit everyone and an excellent playground for kids of all ages! There is also a lovely tea room with a visitors centre open daily.

The closest of several area beaches is Ross Beach, 10 minutes by car..nearest sandy Beaches in Renvyle are only 6 miles away.
Connemara is a walker's paradise. Baunoges, on the road to Cregg Hill, has magical views from the top. Considered an easy climb, you can, see as far as Roundstone in one direction and Achill, in County Mayo, in the other.

For the more ambitious walker, there is nearby Diamond Mountain and the Twelve Bens, 2 kms away, which has a new path and amazing views as far as Croagh Patrick to the north and The Burren to the south.

A lovely house in a lovely part of Ireland

Left on 07/14/2012 for a stay in June 2012

We (a family of five) stayed at this house for a week in June 2012. We have stayed in many holiday houses throughout Ireland and this rated as one of our favorites. It is a welcoming, modern, comfortable house with all of the facilities that make a holiday enjoyable and relaxing. It is located in a beautiful area and the views from the house are lovely. We found the owner to be friendly and helpful and the house reflects her understanding of what makes a holiday house into a home away from home. We would definitely recommend this house to anyone looking for a peaceful, relaxing break.

One of a kind cottage with all of the comforts you could possibl

Left on 12/15/2011 for a stay in September 2011

This cottage was off the beaten path, but well worth the find! The simple, traditional exterior belies the beautifully decorated, contemporary and comfortable interior. The kitchen was so well appointed we broke our usual "no-cook" vacationing rule. Our hostess, Liz was delightful and provided for our every need. We used the cottage as a base for daily drives to small towns all along the coast. Unfortunately the weather was dismal and prevented us from fully appreciating the beautiful country side, but we found friendly pubs in every village to drown our sorrows.

      Excellent, comfortable accomodations

Left on 11/18/2011 for a stay in September 2011

If you are considering a trip through Ireland's beautiful Connemara area, consider this cottage to be your accommodation. It is not only pristine in its cleanliness, comfort and convenient location, it is a vacation in itself. Nearby villages feature great eating and entertainment. And you are centrally located to visit the western coastline and the majestic Connamera region.

We were very impressed with the quality of this cottage. First rate kitchen with well-equipped, high end accouterments. Very restful beds, leather couches and chairs. Satellite TV and internet was a plus during a few exceedingly rainy days.

We were very impressed with this cottage, which out-shined other places we evaluated in the area.

Well appointed cottage in a beautiful area. The cottage had all amenities that we required. The bedrooms were comfortable and well appointed. The living space was great in that it all interconnected and we were able to cook, eat sit down and talk or watch TV as a group. We would definitely recommend it.

A beautiful cottage for an nice week in Connemara

Left on 08/26/2011 for a stay in August 2011

This was really a very nice week in a beautiful, very well-furnished and welcoming cottage. The location was ideal to discover the Connemara region: the lakes for fishing, the walks in marvelous places, the diamond hill and the twelve bens, the fjord and the wild coast. The cottage is in a quiet place: if you wake up early, you could see the deers in the garden!!!

      Comfort in Connemara

Left on 07/16/2011 for a stay in July 2011

Wow, this has got to be one of the best cottages you will find in Ireland. The house is beautiful, functional, comfortable, roomy, and a great value. I loved it. It was hard to leave to go explore western Ireland as the accommodation itself was so delightful!

Thank you Liz for opening this house up to travelers and for putting your heart into the home. It was beautiful!

      Charming Country Home in Connemara

Left on 05/05/2011 for a stay in June 2009

Charming. Contemporary. Comfortable. All of these words, and more, describe Liz Kane's home near Letterfrack, Ireland which our family of five had the pleasure of renting in June, 2009. First the location. The house is not far from the coast, and located just off a country lane in the hills of Connemara. In the evenings, we watched the hills turn to gold as the sunset approached. During the day, we would hike up nearby Diamond Hill which offered glorious views of the surrounding countryside; tour the lovely Kylemore Abbey; or take a ferry to nearby Inishbofin Island and walk around its rugged coastline. A grocery store and two excellent pubs were located just minutes away by car in the nearby village of Letterfrack. More shopping, pubs and restaurants were just a few more kilometers away in the larger town of Clifden going the opposite direction.

My wife and two teenage daughters spent a fair amount of time just relaxing in Liz's beautiful home. The master bedroom was located up a winding staircase just off a loft area at the top of the stairs. The children stayed in bedrooms downstairs. A television with plenty of stations was located in the very comfortable living room. The kitchen and dining area were spotless and had every appliance and utensil you would need for a week's stay, or longer.
