Sydney, AustraliaA magical stay in a beautiful cottage
Left on 06/11/2013 for a stay in July 2012
This is just the most beautiful cottage, perfect in every way for a romantic stay, (we stayed here for our mini-moon the weekend after our wedding).
The cottage is beautifully presented with period features with modern facilities. A high level of thought and attention to detail has been put into every aspect of this property.
We arrived at about 8pm, and on opening the front door we were blown away with the welcome. The fire was on, welcome port was waiting, music was playing, soft mood lighting was on, and a bottle if champagne was chilling. We couldn't have been more delighted. Romance was definitely in the air!
The cottage has a fine selection of Dvds, books and reading materials to keep you entertained whilst you curl up on the very comfy sofa in front of the fire.
The kitchen is beautiful and well equipped, with a large table set for dinner or breakfast.
But the main bathroom ... Wow! A large spa bath, rose petals, a fire. We were in heaven!
We can't wait to have the opportunity to return here!Response from Blue Mountains luxury self contained properties - 06/13/2013

Leura Rose is tucked away in a quiet leafy street in the quaint village of Leura. From the moment you step through the front door you leave your problems behind and immerse yourself in the elegance and excellence of this unique property. On arrival the fires are glowing, the music is playing and a chilled bottle of wine and chocolates await your consumption on the start of your amazing weekend journey. The house radiates warmth and comfort in a luxurious environment with first class amenities throughout. The location of the property is a short stroll to the charming village where you can indulge in either 5 star dining or a traditional devonshire tea followed by some serious "retail therapy". My weekend at Leura Rose has created some beautiful memories and I feel extremely grateful that I could share in the elegance and grandeur of this exceptional cottage and cannot wait to return to the tranquility and magnificence of Leura Rose.

For the person that appreciates romance and beauty by old romantic décor was nothing short of perfection. The location was easy to find and so close to Leura's attractions. Left on 01/01/2013 for a stay in December 2012
Everything was as good as described and pictured.
We were after a quiet getaway over the Christmas break and this was exactly what we got. We even had an excuse on Christmas & Boxing day to light the fire, as it became quite cool with misty rain, perfect.
The small village of Leura was great, lots of small shops and nice cafes and restaurants.
Driveway was a small problem as our low sports car does not have much clearance, Nissan 350Z, Ok for normal car. -

The service was prompt and attentive to make sure the house was setup for us and it was spot on! The cottage itself is beautiful inside and out and the mix of old world charm and modern convenience works splendidly.
A handy walk to Leura shops is a great location, though you do get the occasional train noise, but its not intrusive.

Lorraine was very helpful throughout and kept in touch to ensure all was well. Absolutely loved the property which I booked to celebrate my husband's birthday. The cottage was warm and welcoming with lots of little touches that all added up to make it really special. Must have spent ten minutes oohing and ahhing as we walked around the rooms! We all loved the bathroom, and the living room was a great place to relax in front of the fire. Kitchen was well appointed and equipped, and nice and bright in the morning. Loved arriving to a warm, subtly lit and cosy atmosphere. We would all love to come back. Thank you!!

We've stayed at Leura Rose a number of times now and we really don't want to go out while we're there or go home when we must. We've run out of superlatives for this stunning home from home. It really is that special. The decor and ambience of the cottage have been lavished with every care and attention and it showed in all aspects of our stay. Not only on this one occasion for our Christmas in July but consistently every time we've been, we're wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. Fluffy dressing gowns and slippers, your breakfast preferences catered for, the pre-visit contact and communication clear and professional, spotless accommodation and luxurious furnishings, music piped into various rooms, a spacious and well equipped kitchen perfect to socialise in and prepare great food to share with friends, the spa baths, I could go on. There is nothing to dislike about Leura Rose, it is simply perfect and a delight to share with loved ones and friends alike. It is such a cut above the rest that in some ways it really is a shame to tell everyone how wonderful it is as they'll all want to go, and of course we will again and have already booked for Christmas...

Our two night stay at Leura Rose was a beautiful experience the owner's pride and application to detail from original booking was managed professionally and efficiently. One only needs to step into this cottage to see the efforts applied creating perfection nothing is left undone. The cottage was spotless and warm. The detail applied to furnishings, spar baths, piped music, two open gas fires, central heating, air conditioning and top this off under floor heating in main bathroom with a huge spar bath in this room sits a open log gas fire with dimmed lights and candles..relaxation at its best. And the two double beds are sooo comfortable. Leura Rose is a beautiful cottage, decorated with old world antiques and providing everything you could want in a weekend/week away in the Blue Mountains.
With two bedrooms to choose from, we opted for the "red" room as it has a wonderful four poster bed.
Possessing a fully equipped kitchen with breakfast provisions included in the price, the owners of Leura Rose have thought of everything.
The highlight for us was the double spa bath in a bathroom of it's own. To sit in the spa, sipping on bubbles with the gas fire adding to the ambiance was amazing.

We arrived early Friday evening and everything was as expected - even the music was playing through the multi-speaker system thoughout the house. We found it quite impressive to have the music in every room - including the bathroom, while enoying the sumptuous spa.
The breakfast provisions where both wholesome and substantial.
It was quite a "stroll"the first time we walked to The Leura Mall, but then we discovered the secret - use Railway Pde not Megalong Street :)
The Mall itelf was wonderful. Plenty of nice eateries and cafes. We can thoroughly recommend Le Gobelet Restaurant - superb French cuisine - but don't go there if you are in a hurry, as it's definitely a place to relax and let things take their course (pardon the pun).
A full-day spent around Echo Point in Katoomba helped us work up an appetite and we certainly slept well after experiencing some of the lovely walks.

Leura Rose cottage is a beautiful, comfortable home away from home. The decor and attention to detail is amazing, from the moment we walked in the front door and found soft music playing, heating on and a bottle of bubbly in the fridge, we knew we were in for a wonderful weekend. There is only one thing that we would like to see changed and that is the old TV, to be replaced by a more up to date large screen plasma/lcd/led. Also, a grab rail in the shower would be appropriate.

My partner and I decided to stay at Leura Rose for the comfort that it promised and it didn't disappoint. The spa bath was probably the highlight, and however cold it was outside we were very cosy inside winding down from a very busy week at work. We would certainly return and I have already recommended the property to friends.

Right from the start we were made to feel special. We received a prompt reply to our booking and were asked if it was a special occassion. We were celibrating our 23rd anniversary, so wanted somewhere quiet and romantic to spend some time together.
The day before we arrived we were given details how to obtain the keys and work the security system. When we finally arrived, after driving through rain all day, we were very impressed with the quality and charm of the "cottage".
Upon entering, we were greeted by some lovely soft music playing and the house was already lovely and warm as Lorraine had turned the heating on earlier. Upon inspection of the rooms we were totally blown away by the decor and the high quality finish. From the beautiful four poster beds, to the superb large bathroom with its double spar, under floor heating and its own gas log fire! The kitchen/ dinning room was perfect, fitted with all the latest appliances and utensles you could ever need. The main lounge(yes there are two!)was very spacious and comfortable with its own gas log fire, lovely large comfy couches and large tv and sound system.
The location was lovely, very quiet, with lovely garden and large verandah which would be great to use in summer.
I think the best thing we enjoyed was the attention to detail that has been put into what is a lovely house, and the least thing we liked was having to leave, we could have easily stayed for a week.Response from Blue Mountains luxury self contained properties - 06/19/2011

Dear Lorraine
You certainly have the gift of hospitality and welcome. Our son had stayed previously and he had highly recommended "Leura Rose to us.
On arrival the heating was on, as well as the lamps, and the music was softly playing in the background. The treats as well as necessities for breakfast were also left for us. Thank you. Your house is definitely a home, and the comfortable beds, lounge chairs, very well appointed kitchen and bathrooms (with fluffy towels) were all noticed and appreciated. Everything was of the highest standard. The village location was a good brisk walk away, which we enjoyed on our first evening there. We enjoyed dinner at "Leura Rose" on all three evenings, as we didn't want to leave our warm and cosy abode. Many thanks from us to you for all your attention to detail. It was so difficult to leave so soon. We look forward to staying again.
Kind regards

My husband and I booked Leura Rose Cottage for a quick two night break away. Luckily we were able to extend this another night once we were there.
Even though it was summer, the mountain weather set in - cool, foggy and drizzly. When we arrived at the cottage, there was an instant warmth, even down to the music playing.
Leura Rose Cottage is very tastefully decorated. There were breakfast provisions in the kitchen, wine in the fridge and port and chocolates in the lounge.
I would highly recommend Leura Rose to anyone. -

The main bathroom spa has the most impressive indoor spa I have ever seen, and the added warmth of a fireplace makes the experience so incredibly relaxing. I take part in an average of 4 weekends away annually, and Leura Rose is the most spectacular by far. A great stay that had us relaxing as soon as we entered. The property was immaculately presented and the special touches including the wine, port, chocolates and breakfast supplies were fantastic. Our stay went to fast. The only downside we had to the place was we found the pillows too hard for our liking (next time we will just bring our own) and the drive way was a bit steep. We have a new camry and each time we left the property we ended up bottoming out, so in the end we parked on the street. All in all a very relaxing place. I am sure we will be back.

Mount View, Hunter ValleyLeura Rose is now my place to stay in the Blue Mountains
Left on 05/25/2010 for a stay in May 2010
After looking at countless properties on the internet I decided on Leura Rose. I wanted a place that was romantic, that would have a two person spa, fire-place, central heating, TV, music, IPOD dock, be immaculate, beautifully decorated and presented, private and... close to The Mall at Leura for shopping and dining - yep, I wanted it all.
When we walked into Leura Rose we found there was piped music, central heating, candles and mood lighting turned on for our arrival - fabulous!
There are two gorgeous bedrooms and it took me a few minutes to finally decide on the bedroom with the moody plum and gold theme, plus there were two fluffy bathrobes neatly folded on the bed (with slippers) and two chocolates which helped me decide.
The spa bath has views looking out into the private garden, this bathroom has generous proportions with a lovely gas flame fire-place and coupled with the candles, central heating and piped music really topped off our experience.
There is a lounge room with another open gas flame fire place, two comfy lounges, satellite TV, DVD's and a sound system with a selection of CD's (this is where the piped music comes from). Lorraine's CD selection really suits the cottage and the mood - it was cool outside but warm and relaxing inside.
The kitchen is also spacious but cosy, and very well equipped with modern appliances and like the rest of the cottage - immaculate. As the cottage is north facing, we had gentle autumn sunshine inside and outside on the deck.
Leura Rose is a very pleasant, easy short walk along Railway Parade to The Mall. This village has some great shopping for clothes, home-wares, art, craft, candles, jewellry, as well as day spas, massage, etc., and delicious food in cafes, restaurants and deli's.
We've been coming to Leura for years, but now know that we will always come back to Leura Rose because it 'feels like our weekender' - ticks all the boxes - just perfect. Highly recommended for 1 to 2 couples. -

Words cannot describe 'Leura Rose'!!!
Beautiful, amazing, wonderful, magnificent... none of these words even come close to describing this home away from home. No detail was left out, nothing more could be wanted for and most of all, once having stayed here, one will never want to leave.
THANK YOU Lorraine for allowing us to experience the wonder that is 'Leura Rose'. You are an amazing host who has a definite knack for what you do. The moment you enter through the gates of Leura Rose Cottage you know that your time spent here will be special. The house is set in a picturesque garden in a lovel quiet street.
Upon entering the cottage you immediately feel welcome. Lorraine has excelled herself with the decor and her unique special touches.
We were relucant to leave this beautiful cottage even for an outing but because there are so many attactions nearby we decided to do a walk at the nearby 3 sisters in Kootomba, followed by a saunter through the grounds of Everglates an historical home set on 12.5 arces of beautifully landscaped gardens. We also found Lerua village so quiant with such exceptional resturants.

Left on 01/20/2010 for a stay in January 2010
From the minute I spoke to Lorraine on the phone to enquire about Leura Rose Cottage I knew I had chosen the right place to stay out of the 300 places advertised on the net and value for money especially as we had the cottage to ourselves.
Lorraine was warm and friendly as she described how she had enjoyed decorating the property with attention to detail to ensure comfort and enjoyment and that's just what she delivered. As we entered the front door and peeked into the two bedrooms with four poster beds we said "this is very nice" and the following two sitting rooms were just as beautifully furnished and decorated until we walked into the kitchen and spa bathroom and we both went "wow" this is very very nice. Everything we needed was there from the adequate continental breakfast provisions to the bubble bath lotion and white fluffy robes.
The location being a 15 minute walk for us to the village is on the high side of the road where we enjoyed sitting on the verandah and looking out over the view and watching the black cockatoos. The outside of the house is very pretty and private. Our stay was one of complete enjoyment.

"Leura Rose Cottage" - the name itself stimulates the imagination with various images. Upon arriving and opening the front door, the images truly come to life. With my first gasp and step back into a bygone era in time, for the next six glorious days I closed the door on the so called modern world we now live in.
At no point during my escape at "Leura Rose Cottage" did I think about what I had left behind, a true testimonial to the creation of the ambience our hosts "Lorraine and Roger Allanson" have achieved through their passion.
Every fantasy was catered for and every requirement met beyond any and all expections. From the totally secluded location, the luxurious furnishings, relaxing selected piped music, flickering candles, strategic dimmed lighting, wine, port and chocolates awaiting us together with our plush bath robes and slippers,a fully equipped kitchen wanting for absolutley nothing and breakfast provisions, every need and possible want was considered.
When you walk across the heated bathroom floor towards your spa bath filling with bubbles and submerge yourself looking out through the stained glass bay windows into the garden, you literally stop and take pleasure in not only where you are but what you have that has allowed you this experience.
The standard of service is beyond "outstanding", and "Leura Rose Cottage" has provided me with an everlasting memory of the celebration of a milestone birthday together with an appreciation of what "life" should really be about - appreciating every moment.
Until we meet again... With gratitude for entrusting me with your beautiful home and providing a haven where I could focus on "every moment".

This place is literally perfect. We love the Blue
Mountains area for walking but we didn't want to
go out when stayed in Leura Rose.
From our first contact with Lorraine (the owner)
we received a professional service via phone and
email so we had high expectations of our stay.
Friends had stayed in the sister cottage,
Strawberry Patch which we'd visited and fell in
love with. Every attention to detail was
considered and everything about the property said
welcome from the music playing on arrival, the
lights glowing invitingly, the Christmas
decorations.
The decor and furnishings are of a very high
standard, every care has been taken to literally
every detail to create an experience, not a stay.
This is somewhere you won't want to leave, an
oasis of comfort and relaxation.
The property has two bedrooms which fill with
light in the morning and you are woken with
birdsong. Both are tastefully decorated and so
beautifully presented that it seems a shame to
sleep in them.
We have stayed in some amazing hotels around the
world but this place had it all and more. Luxury,
sophistication, comfort, style and charm with a
sense of personal service and care that a chain
establishment could never replicate. The rooms
are exactly as they are on the website. Small
touches such as underfloor heating in the
bathroom, the jacuzzi bath, the candles, music
piped to the kitchen from the CD player in the
sitting room make the experience a cut above the
rest in every way.
If you want to create an impression, treat
yourself or just be, then this is one of the best
places in the world to do it. -

Left on 11/05/2009 for a stay in October 2009
I was impressed with Lorraine since the correspondence of making the reservation. She seemed so kind over the phone, very informative and was very particular about small/minor details in attempt to accomodate to all our needs. We fell in love with Leura Rose the minute we walked into the charming cottage, where the scent of rose was everywhere and the welcoming music was left on. It is obvious that a lot of care and attention was given to making Leura Rose truly wonderful as it is; the place is very well coordinated in theme/decoration and totally well-equipped with everything you might possibly need. The main bathroom/jacuzzi seems to be the highlight for most (we can understand why!) but we also liked the kitchen/dining room, the peaceful breakfast on the patio with the greeting and sweet melody of bird chirping, and after-dinner lingering in front of the fire place in the living room. The place definitely felt like home, located in a quiet neighborhood, yet only 5 blocks away from the vibrant yet lovely town of Leura in the beautiful blue mountains. We congratulate Lorraine for the job well done! One little thing we might want to suggest it that the bedrooms are a bit too dark to our liking, and we would prefer a bit more of lighting. But that's the only complaint we could really think of.

The bathroom is amazing from the heated floor to the large jacuzzi tub and overhead heat lamps. Can't say enough good things about Leura Rose. If we visit Australia again, will be sure to go!!

My husband and I stayed with our best friends at Leura Rose Cottage and were extremely impressed. Lorraine' attention to detail was outstanding - from the fireplace in the bathroom, huge spa bath, piped music throughout, beautiful gardens, amazing kitchen, gorgeous bedrooms, port and wine etc where do I stop?
We had such a fabulous time we have booked our next stay in 2 month's time. We found it hard to leave the house in the mornings to go sightseeing...and hurried home every afternoon to relax on the sunny verandahs.
Thanks Lorraine you have done a marvellous job!!

Leura Rose is the quintessential Blue Mountains weatherboard house, complete with cottage garden and gas heating throughout. The home is in perfect condition, beautifully decorated and equipped with every luxury, including disposable slippers and dressing gowns. Best of all was the bathroom - piped music, gas fireplace, candles and a champagne bucket thoughtfully placed next to the enormous spa bath. Lorraine has considered her guests' every need including port, a bottle of wine, chocolates. Absolute perfection, right down to the marshmallows to place in the hot chocolate. Have already booked a return stay.

This was 5star treatment right from my very first contact with Lorraine through our 4 night stay and beyond. Period homes are a favourite with us, and Lorraine has restored and decorated this home with the utmost attention to detail and luxury with no expense spared. Arriving to a heated, candle-lit home with music softly playing throughout the home (and note I use "home" and not "house") was just bliss. As to which room is the best - can't decide as each room exceeds its purpose. And that gorgeous sunny verandah - just the place to escape to with a book, and can just imagine drinks of a summer evening.
As an immigrant to Australia the Blue Mountains is our favourite place with the best bushwalking and Leura Rose is central to it all. But for those just wanting to laze about, one can't go wrong with Leura - great variety of shops and some very good dining. And then at the end of the day return to Leura Rose for a romantic spa bath, with some champagne and oysters thrown in for good measure. Absolute bliss.
Thank you so much Lorraine, your efforts are appreciated more than words can say. -

From the moment we opened the front door we were transported and welcomed into the most beautifully transformed cottage.
Every single touch, every single thought given over to our absolute comfort ... music, candles, rose petals, wine, port, chocolates, bathrobes, slippers, and everything we needed in the kitchen to never have to leave if we didn't want to ... and we hardly did - our first night at a local restaurant saw us eat our entrees out but get our mains takeaway so we could race back to our cosy oasis!
While the entire cottage is exquisite (it's like a treasure box that keeps revealing new little pleasures and delights the more you explore), the main bathroom was a highlight - huge spa bath (big enough for the two of us!) with fireplace and under floor heating looking out a beautiful bay window to the cherub in the backyard.
Leura Rose ... romantic, peaceful, warm, inviting ... absolutely magical and truly memorable.
Thank you for everything Lorraine, we can't wait to be back. Rox and Rod -

From the moment we walked in the ambience set the scene for a perfect weekend. The house was toasty warm, music was on, candles were lit and wine was set. All we had to do was enjoy. Great local restaurants and cafes a stone's throw away, and a wonderful home kitchen ensured we had all situations covered. Once settled into the house, the gas fires and central heating were great, the spa was fantastic and the bed - super comfortable. Thanks for such a wonderful weekend, we'll definitely be back!

Stayed here for my birthday and from the moment I walked in I knew I had picked the right place. It is absolutely lovely! So fantastic in fact that I thought I might just squat on the premises once my two blissful days were up. You'll know exactly what I mean when you lie in that spa with the candles flickering and the fire flaming away. The beds were soooo comfy and the lounge room and kitchen make you feel so welcomed that you start to believe that this is home. Sit outside on the verandah in the morning with your cup of tea or coffee and listen to the birds....so peaceful. Lorraine you have created a wonderful haven and I just cant wait to get back. Thankyou so much for everything.

We went to Leura Rose for our 15th Wedding Anniversary and it was a wonderful experience. The house was warm and cosy and beautifully furnished. There was a fireplace in the lounge and one in the bathroom with a double spa bath - an incredibly relaxing place to be on a cold winters night. There were great provisions in the kitchen - you need not bring anything at all. There was a nice choice of music and movies to enjoy. Every detail is taken care of here and we certainly felt at home and very relaxed and refreshed after our weekend stay.

From the moment my friend and I arrived to celebrate her birthday it was like being in another world. "I just can't believe it!" was my friends constant refrain as this was a surprise gift from her family,a special treat and indeed Leura Rose Cottage lived up to that! They had even catered for special extras accordign to her family's wishes!
What other guests had said was so true, the attention to detail was excellent and evident in each and every beautiful room. The old world charm of the furnishings and decor just added to the 'other world' atmosphere. My only misgiving was not sharing it with my husband, so I'll be back to treat him one day to this special place.
A perfect place to spoil or for romance. -

We had a wonderful 2 nights relaxing at Leura Rose Cottage, a beautiful, romantic, cosy and peaceful retreat for the perfect "get away from it all escape"! We both absolutely loved it, from the gorgeous bedroom and cosy lounge with fire, and best of all the luxurious bathroom with spa and fireplace - the perfect place to unwind!- wish we had been able to stay longer and definitely recommend Leura Rose to others.
We would love to stay at one of Leura Rose's sister cottages next time.
Thanks Lorraine for a wonderful time and your attention to detail at Leura Rose. -

We just spent an amazing three days at Leura Rose cottage.
Leura Rose is a recent addition to the Mountain Whispers group (Strawberry Patch and Varenna cottages), opening in April 2009. The attention to detail cannot be overstated. Everything you could possibly want has been included. We were so impressed that we (almost) didn?t touch anything in case of upsetting the ambience! Gorgeous music filled the house that had been warmed up for our arrival. One of many considerate gestures made by Lorraine, the owner of Leura Rose. We cannot thank Lorraine enough for making our stay so memorable and relaxing.
It would be easy to write many, many pages attempting to describe Leura Rose and how its beauty and all the thoughtful touches positively affected our stay. The cottage?s description is honest in every respect. Perhaps the biggest compliment we could give Leura Rose (and Lorraine) is that there was nothing we didn?t love about this cottage. We were extremely reluctant and sad to leave. We will always consider Leura Rose as the pinnacle of all Blue Mountains accommodation.
It was simply perfect.
