Newcastle,AustraliaA relaxing mountain retreat
Left on 04/27/2013 for a stay in April 2013
This is the second time we have stayed at Lorna's. This time we brought my mother for a couple of nights. It was glorious autumn weather warm sunny days and cool crisp nights. The cottage is set up with everything needed for a pleasant stay, with comfy beds and a relaxing sitting room that looks onto the lovely garden. The kitchen is well eqipped with all the cooking esentials. The first night we made a warming pea and ham soup to have with the delicious sourdough bread purchased at the nearby bakery. All in all a relaxing stay.

I stayed at Lorna for my 30th birthday with my fiancee and my parents. I had high expectations as had thoroughly scowered the net for a beautiful cottage. Lorna was beautiful and everything I hoped it would be. We ate in 2 of the 3 nights and enjoyed the ambience and amenities of the cottage which I thoroughly recommend people do. Indulged in a deep bath with salts and soaked up the rustic garden.
It was a tonic and am very glad we went. It went off without a hitch! Thank you to Caroline.
A few things we appreciated: It is a holiday cottage where the nice things are put out for guests to use - no crud, which was lovely. Beautiful paintings and trinkets on display, excellent kitchen utensils.
A couple of things we noticed would be lovely for future guests: A box of tissues on the bedside would have been wonderful, and the mattress on the four poster bed was for me a little hard - my fiancee thought it was fine though. Perhaps a pillow top would be a lovely investment.
The other thing was the expressway / train line from the garden was quite loud so it wasn't as peaceful as I thought it might be when sitting in the garden, but inside the house it didn't disturb.
Thanks again Caroline - I had a brilliant time :) -

SydneyYou feel loved at Lorna
Left on 06/09/2012 for a stay in April 2012
We have traveled the world, but this place is my idea of heaven. It felt like home. It was exquisitely appointed and a walk away from our favorite restaurant in Lorna - The Garage. We enjoyed Lorna so much and loved the dining room that we ate in and talked around the dining room table till all hours of the night. Caroline has decorated so beautifully and the gardens in the back are a delight. We had two small children and even they were in awe of everything in the home. We will be back and till then shall treasure the sweet memories.

What a joy to walk in to a house where not only is the house exactly as described, but to be spoiled by so many thoughtful extras.
From embroidered sheets and towels to luxurious pillows and 'throws', imported soaps and body lotions - to name just a few.
The house is beautifully appointed with a wonderful vista through to the stunning garden where we spent a lot of time enjoying the Spring flowers.
We could easily imagine being in France. A most delightful few days. -

CanberraA very special place to stay.
Left on 02/21/2012 for a stay in February 2012
For a special occasion you can't go past Lorna at Leura. It is very beautifully decorated and takes you back in time to a world where pace was slower and the perfect home was everything. It may be an 1890's cottage and decorated as such, but all the mod cons are there too, comfy beds and all you would ever need in the kitchen and Caroline has spared no expense. The garden goes on forever, with interesting pieces and places for lingering. If the thunder clouds hadn't persisted we would have spent a lot longer out there. Never mind - inside was so cosy, we didn't need to leave. Just one negative to mention - the arrival milk was absent, and after 4 hours on the road from Canberra, we were gasping for a cuppa. Had to rush out again for a carton. I'm sure it was just an oversight - especially as a nice bottle of red was offered.

SydneyThe perfect mountain escape
Left on 02/12/2012 for a stay in October 2011
"Lorna" is what you imagine a weekend in the mountains should be - a picture-perfect cottage, every conceivable comfort and all set in a garden that completely conforms to my idea of the idyllic mountain garden. We loved every minute - this cottage is so special. Caroline has renovated it with love and the attention to detail is everywhere - gorgeous decor, comfy beds, luxurious bathrooms, a kitchen that is better-equipped than mine and (for me, the total knock-out) a garden that I would like to visit in every season. Can't wait to come back!

Left on 02/12/2012 for a stay in October 2011
We were wanting a place to stay as a reunion for a group women who had been at school together. The house was tastefullly furnished and managed to combine elegance with a cosy and inviting ambience. The log fires captured our memories and the sun drenched courtyard extending to a copse of trees at the end of an immaculate lawn - provided just the setting for our long lunches as we caught up across the years. Linen was crisp and well laundered and kitchen equipped with all that we needed. Would stay there again and again...

This exquisite place was on my list following a review in august edition of Country Style. We had high expectations and were astounded that it was everything and more. The amount of thought that has gone into the detail of this place is breathtaking. Whilst we only booked for 2 days we ended up staying a week. A week of pure relaxation in a one of a kind place. The garden was peaceful and is tendered regularly. The kitchen is well appointed with top of the range implements and appliances. The items in the house were to be seen to be believed and I'm now looking for one of these beds for my home. I cannot praise this place highly enough. It's more than a home away from home it's heaven at leura. I will defenately be returning in the near future.

Stayed here a couple of times now and each time has been an absolute pleasure.
Attention to detail with furnishings, decore, seasonal garden flourishes and the little things like bottle of wine on arrival and fridge extras were greatly appreciated from city worn clients.
Easy walk into Leura to shops and restaurants. Short drive to fantastic mountain and valley walks/hikes.
I thoroughly recommend the drive up from Sydney.

Left on 11/18/2011 for a stay in September 2011
Excellent accommodation with beautiful furnishings in every room. The bottle of wine was a lovely extra especially for us Brits who was finding the cost of wine very expensive. Leura is a lovely town and an excellent area to explore the magnificent Blue Mountains with a car.
The only quibble we have is having to use Pay Pal to pay for the deposit as it cost us quite a bit of money to use the credit card and also to put the deposit money back into our bank account which was returned promptly. Another method of payment would be preferable for oversea visitors.Response from C P - 02/21/2012

Thank you for comments & the payment suggestion. We can now do direct transfer to overseas banks if that makes it easier .

We enjoyed our stay at "Lorna" very much. The attractive, well cared for miner's cottage was beautifully decorated in a French style, well equipped and very comfortable. The garden was also a delight. It was filled with bluebells and azaleas and provided a wonderful backdrop for lunches outside.

Left on 10/06/2011 for a stay in September 2011
The house is just beautiful and full of exquisite things, and the garden just as lovely as the Open Garden Scheme ones we visited in Leura. The central heating kept us cosy and the kitchen was very well equipped, although with the great restaurants and cafes nearby we did not do it justice. We could not resist the beautiful, one of a kind things in the Leura and Katoomba shops and hope to be back soon, as there is so much more to see.

Sydney NSWHoliday Fantasy Home
Left on 10/05/2011 for a stay in September 2011
Lorna is completely charming and delightful. When we arrived, I spent the first 15 minutes just walking around and taking everything in - in awe. Even my 5 year old was mesmerised and said promptly after arriving "I think I would like to live here". Caroline has put so much effort and love into decorating her home. And the fact that she makes it all available to guests is wonderful.
Lorna is also the cleanest guest house I have ever stayed at, and the small touches of the heat being on in advance, the wine bottle and glasses laid out and the radio on make the biggest difference. It was as if we were coming home to family...
We will definitely be making Lorna our go-to guesthouse whenever we are in Leura.
Thank you again Caroline, you have created a beautiful guest home that is the stuff of holiday fantasies.

A great house in a great location. Such a nice change to arrive in a place which has all the basics (and then some), high quality linen, beautiful furniture and fittings and the heating cranked up to high. At Lorna they don't hide the nice stuff, they leave it all there for the use of the guests. I highly recommend this place.

Lorna is a most charming cottage, exquisitely furnished and decorated. Everything one might require has been provided and thought of. The garden is equally delightful. It was a perfect choice to bring overseas friends to and experience the Blue Mountains. The only minor negative is that the bathrooms are not en suite but are also done to perfection !

We stayed at Lorna in Leura and had a lovely weekend in October this year but after more than two months of trying to contact the owner we still do not have our $200 secuirity deposit back.
With no communication or no details on why our security deposit has not been returned, we think it is a disgrace...Don't stay there if you want your security deposit back ! -

My husband and I have just enjoyed three blissful nights at Lorna. The cottage is exceptionally charming and we felt right at home the moment we arrived. The dining and sitting rooms have been beautifully decorated in French style using muted colours and chalky whites. Wood floors, an abundance of rugs, tapestries, french doors, candles, a day bed full of comfy cushions and a throw - we were tempted to stay in on two of the nights! Loved the modern take on the claw foot bath in the main bathroom and the attention to detail throughout the cottage. We will be back again!

Left on 07/08/2010 for a stay in April 2009
We had been on a road trip visiting and staying with friends further a field and stayed at 'Lorna' for the weekend on our return journey back to Sydney. The house was beautifully fitted out and instantly welcoming. The location was close enough to walk to the cafes and shops and forget about the car which was a relief after traveling some distance. So after a cafe meal out in the evening we came home to the most comfortable beds which were hard to get out of in the morning and again ditched the car and could walk down the road to experience the beautiful bush and breathtaking scenery of the Blue Mountains. Once back home again we all took turns of having a sumptuous bath with complimentary oils in the biggest bath tub to soak our tired muscles. All in all a very convenient and luxurious weekend away to enjoy the beautiful Blue Mountains at the doorstep of Sydney and returned home very refreshed.

Our stay was magnificent. There could be no better place to celebrate mothers day with my parents. We dined in every night, enjoyed the expertly equipped kitchen where there was a choice of every utensil, dish or pot and luxurious stove/oven. The dining room had such a dinner party atmosphere, perfect for a weekend in the mountains with family.
We will be back and have booked our next celebration already for my fathers birthday treat in July. -

Lorna is a beautifully decorated cottage with a warm, comfortable and cosy feel to it. One of its advantages is the walkable distance to the town centre. It has so much to offer, not only does it have the best equipped kitchen and fantastic stove but the bedlinen and beds invites you to a sleep in.
The lengthy back garden with age old trees and bluebells flowering at the back is at its best when enjoying a late breakfast.Lorna will be more than a yearly visit for us. -

Left on 05/12/2010 for a stay in March 2009
Arriving on a rainy day this former modest miner's cottage gives no hint of the sheer delight that awaits you inside.
The two queen size bedrooms, furnished with country charm, look on to the front verandah. For two nights I slept soundly in the comfortable bed cocooned in luxury bed linen.
Down the hall there is a gourmet kitchen and beautifully furnished dining room.
This leads to the living room with french doors overlooking the superb garden planted with love by the horticulturist owner. There is a patio and a bbq with outside furniture designed to enjoy a glass of wine and a good book.
The air conditioned house has an ecletic collection of silver, paintings and china which makes it a home you would be proud to live in. An excellent house to escape with friends and loved ones.
The two bathrooms are off the living room. One with a claw foot bath & shower and the other with a shower and washing machine and dryer.
All the fittings are first class and I would recommend it to people who want an escape to enjoy the Blue Mountains.
