We arrived in Monterosso early in the evening, only to find the poor town a mess from the floods. Selfishly, we thought only of ourselves and how our dream vacation was ruined. Enter Paula. She saw us with our luggage, looking frazzled, approached and smiled and asked us in English (she's american) if she can help. Within minutes we were whisked off to paradise in the form of Villa Valentina and had prosecco in hand as our twins were running around the yard chasing her adorable dog, Teddy. We chose to take the two adjoining apartments, Magnolia and Rosa, which was ideal for putting the kids to bed, closing the door and having some time to ourselves next to the gorgeous fireplace. In the mornings, the kids fed the chickens and got us our morning eggs, while we sat on the patio and enjoyed our cappuccino that Paula was so kind to help us figure out how to make (the apartment even has an electric whisk to make the milk froth!). I can't say enough how incredible Paula, her husband, Angelo, and their daughter, Valentina (who we ran into at an incredible pizzeria in Levanto - what an amazing town on the beach!) were to us. They even connected us with Daniella and Piero in Monterosso (the part that wasn't affected by the floods) for a private dinner and we were able to enjoy the best meal of our trip and still be able to see the gorgeous view of Cinque Terre from the absolutely incredible outdoor patio. Now all we can think about is how to help Monterosso get back on it's feet, so we're planning a family reunion and renting out the whole Villa and have Daniella and Piero cater it?! I can't think of a better place to be with our family and support a community that epitomizes how incredible Italy and Italians are. Paula, we will forever be thankful for this experience.

Paula and angelo have done a fantastic job of designing/decorating a property that is absolutely beautiful! Their warmth and attention to detail is evidenced in the Magnolia. The individual patio and grounds are lovely and the kitchen, living room and bathroom provide all the necessary amenities. There is also a washer available to do laundry. It's a 15-20 minute walk to the train station if you wish to visit the other Cinque Terra villages. I would highly recommend the Villa Valentina.
