Happened upon this beautiful cottage too late now that our daughter is graduating from Bucknell. We came for only a one night stay to have dinner with our daughter and brought our large dog along. Arrived on a freezing cold afternoon to a beautiful cottage with the gas fire already lit and the cottage most toasty. We were welcomed when we arrived by the owners friends and dog. The kitchen was stocked with coffees, teas, hot chocolate, and dog treats and the refirigerator with everything one could want for breakfast (eggs, yogurt, milk, cream cheese jam and peanut butter) . Fresh bagels and muffins were delivered in the morning. The master bed was one of the most comfortable we have ever slept in. We cannot say enough good things about this place. Only regret that we had only one night to stay and are not likely to come back too often after graduation (and, of course, she is already booked for that weekend!)

Pet friendly, family friendly accomodations are difficut to find - we hoped the Barn would work well for our trip back to visit Susquehanna U. and it exceeded our expectations. Our 4 year old loved the bunkbed room, and having a crib there for our 2 month old saved us a lot of packing. The refridgerator was stocked with much more than we could have expected, and breakfast breads each morning was a nice treat.

Have children? Have a dog or dogs that you don't want to leave at home or pay to board? Like to step out the back sliding door into your own private three acre grassy lawn to romp with the kids/dogs? Like a bonfire on a cool Fall evening in the fire ring out back? Like a place that is fully stocked with fresh fruit, yogurt, coffee with creamers, assorted juices, hot chocolate, and a full kitchen? Like fresh muffins, banana bread and/or bagels delivered to the front porch by 8:00 am every morning? Like the serenity of the country, but all the perks of good restaurants and easy shopping only a mile or so away? Like a clean, large comfortable 1200 sq. foot cottage with high ceilings and a cozy gas stove flickering in the corner of your living space? Like central air in the Summer? Like friendly hosts, who are nearby in the main house if you need them, but who give you all the privacy you need? If so, you will not just like this place; you will love it.

Karen is the perfect host, she makes sure everything is comfortable for the entire group (adults, children, dogs) without being intrusive. The barn is extremely comfortable and relaxing, with plenty of space for everyone. The whole family slept well and I've never seen my dogs settle into a place as quickly as they did. Our rescue dog can be very nervous in new places but she was comfortable right away. Our teens really enjoyed all the places to sit and relax. We all enjoyed the peaceful setting and close proximity to Bucknell. The breakfast food was fabulous. I highly recommend this to anyone visiting in the area.I only wish we had arrived earlier the night before to have more time at this peaceful location.

Before we even checked into The Barn, I felt like I knew Karen! Making the reservation was a pleasure, and all my questions were answered before we arrived. When at last the day came for our vacation, Karen met us and walked us over to the cottage.
Let me say, the pictures on the website are beautiful, but photos can only capture so much! The cottage was stunning! It was very clean, and stocked with anything we could possibly need. The fridge was stocked with drinks, snacks, fresh fruit and milk/juice boxes. The bathroom had a welcome basket of toiletries; and the children's room was stocked with books, toys, stuffed animals and movies. The Barn even had a stool and night light in the bathroom for us (well, for our 4 year old son). The master bedroom was beautiful, again stocked with books and movies, and the bed was extremely comfortable (way better than a hotel bed).
When we woke up our first morning there, there were fresh bagels, muffins and bread waiting for us in a basket outside. Delish!! After spending the day at Knoebels amusement Park with our son, we came home and cooked dinner on the charcoal grill that is provided at the cottage, and made s'mores on the fire pit in the back yard.
My only complaint about our whole stay was that it only lasted 3 days!! We made up our mind that next year we will take a week vacation at The Barn. We can't wait to go back!!
The attention to detail at The Barn is something I can't say enough about. Karen does a wonderful job at making her guests feel right at home! The amenities were more than we've had at any hotel chain we've stayed at, with the added quality of being luxurious and kid/family friendly at the same time!
I would recommend The Barn to anyone I knew going to the Lewisburg area, or even Elysburg pa (Knoebels amusement Park was only about a 25 min drive away).
Thank you Karen, for your kind hospitality and beautiful home!

Our family could not have been happier with our stay at the Barn. Having young children, we appreciated the attention given to having child friendly books, videos, and inside and outside toys to keep them entertained. We took advantage of the barbecue during the great weather, the hammock and outside loungers, and loved the beautifully maintained grounds. The owner's dog Shannon was extremely friendly, and my 2-year-old still mentions her by name over a month on. Enjoyed ourselves very much, and hope to come back again some day!

From the moment you open the door you know you're not at an ordinary B&B.; This place is so tranquil; it is really a breath of fresh air compared with most places you stay while visiting a college. We've stayed here many times and the thoughtfulness and attention to detail paid by the owners is really something special. Even though our daughter no longer goes to school in Lewisburg, we intend to go back just for the R&R; you get from staying at this place.

We stayed here for one night while visiting Bucknell with my daughter and husband. Large, sunny space, great backyard private view, fully stocked with everything you can think of in the kitchen as well as the bathroom, videos for the TV, separate bedroom with bunk beds as well as a crib. This is so much more family friendly than the hotel rooms or B & B in town. 5 minute drive to Bucknell.

Needed a place to stay while visiting my daughter at Bucknell and found a gem. Not only did I feel at home the minute I walked in the door, but when I went to put something in the refrigerator I found lots of wonderful food and drinks in there. Karen, the owner has such lovely touches in the cottage that you can't help but feel comfortable. The beds were very comfortable. There were books, magazines, board games, etc. The view out the large back sliding windows went on forever. I am looking forward to returning in the summer and fall months. I highly recommend this property not only for the comforts of home but for the lovely personal service Karen gave to us during out stay.

The atmosphere was lovely and homey: everything that I wanted/needed with the exception of a small dishwasher, a food waste disposer, a stackable washer dryer. I have these at my home and not having them made clean up more time consuming. Nevertheless, anything that I missed was more than made up for by Karen, the owner. She made meals for me. She became a good, close friend. She decorated with Christmas Lights and brought down a Christmas tree. She provided a portable crib for my new born grand baby. Karen is top notch in every way. She wants to make sure that anyone who stays there has a pleasant experience and she works hard to see that we all do. I would rather have Karen than even the three things I mentioned in the beginning. In fact, Karen offered me the use of her washer and dryer, as she does to all who stay there. Be sure to stay at the "Barn". You will love your time there.

Karen was a very gracious hostess, providing hospitable, friendly service and comfortable accommodations, while extending the privacy needed for a quiet restful retreat.
I stumbled upon The Barn online while looking for a place to stay in Lewisburg during a 6-day/5-night visit. I needed a fully furnished kitchen so that I could fix meals during my stay, and was pleased to find such a charming cottage with the amenities that I needed. It is a bright, cheery, "open space" style cottage, with skylights, an open bedroom area, living room, dining area and kitchen, in addition to a nice large bathroom and a second enclosed bedroom with bunks and a crib (I didn't need this room for my visit).
It was perfectly cozy, with a lots of "homey" touches (books, fireplace, a variety of toiletries - including the creamiest body wash I've ever used, cushy sofas, teas, a heavenly bed, etc.). The website photos suggest that the cottage is in a more remote location than it actually is, but for me was a pleasant surprise as I did not want to be in an isolated area. There are other homes in the area, but from the inside of the cottage you are unaware of them as the view out of the windows and sliding doors is a fantastic, unobstructed, panoramic view of the nearby meadows, valley, hills, and mountain ridges - very peaceful! I would definitely stay here again.
The only watch-out is that the pathway to the cottage is made up of pavers, timbers, and gravel on uneven, slightly sloping terrain, so it would not work well for someone with walking challenges or a wheelchair. Otherwise,The Barn is a perfectly, wonderful place to stay in Lewisburg!

From the very start, Karen made us feel very welcomed, like part of the family. She made sure we knew where everything was located and how to operate the various appliances. The cottage is called the Barn, but the only thing "barn" about it was maybe it's former life. The cottage is laid out very efficiently with the bedroom, living room kitchen, and bath occupying quadrants. It put us in mind of a well appointed New York style studio apartment.Even though the Barn is located in a country setting, it is not out in the "sticks". All major attractions and restaurants are located just minutes away. The features we liked best were the sky lights over the bed and over the dining table. Since it was cold outside we opted to have the gas fired fireplace provide the heat to keep us cozy and warm. We especially enjoyed sitting together in front of the fireplace early one morning!About the only thing I would recommend to Karen, would be to secure the toilet seat better. All in all, we would stay again and sample other regional attractions we missed the first time.

Excellent facility and I strongly recommend. I visited the Barn for over a week during early autumn of 2011. The small apartment provides an excellent residence for a couple or small family and the location allowed me to enjoy my visit. In my job, I travel over three months a year, visit numerous african and European countries and routinely stay in four star plus hotels. However, no hotel comes close to the unique beauty, light, and warmth of the barn. Simply stated, it became a home immediately and "Warm Nest" might be a more appropriate name for the barn. The welcome, muffins and owner's friendliness were very inviting and the apartment is extremely comfortable. From the rear window I was able to see chipmunks, squirrels and a ground hog play together as I sipped my morning coffee. The well stocked kitchen allows you to prepare you own meals if you like. The Barn was very convenient for my numerous visits to both family and highlights of central Pennsylvania and will be #1 on my list when I am able to return to the area.

The barn was a very relaxing and cozy place to stay. The purpose of staying there was to attend a BMW motorcycle rally in Bloomsburg. We did most of our riding earlier in the week and the scenery was great! The apartment was very comfortable and the breakfasts were delicious and plentiful! Daily visits by the Irish setter, Shannon were always a welcome sight!. One of my favorite things to do was to go out in the back yard in the morning in one of the adirondack chairs and enjoy a leisurely cup of coffee and a puzzle book. The week we were there, Central Pennsylvania was entertaining record heat. Returning each day from an outing was always a welcome respite from the heat.
We already have plans to stay here in the fall and enjoy some wonderful scenery and cooler temperatures! The only criticism would be to update the TV to a small flatscreen. (We didn't spend a lot of time watching TV anyway)
Bottom line: It was great!!

We had a lovely stay in this comfortable, quiet, clean, charming, light-filled cottage. The host was very gracious and accomodating. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and would love to return there. My husband hates to travel and is very particular about where he stays but we were both delighted with our experience. Just wish there was an easy way to find other places like this -- we would travel more often.

My 11 year old son summed it up best. "This place has everything. Can we stay here for a year?" This cottage exceeded all of our expectations, and impressed all of us, including our teenage boys. There is something therapeutic about the atmosphere; very feng shui or something. The details in the chocolates, the teas, the baked goods, the baskets of fruit in the fridge, the CDS, the comfortable beds, the vast backyard (where we played wiffle ball) and the friendly dog that comes to the door for a milkbone make us feel like cherished family. We hope to come for a longer visit next time. Thank you, Karen!

I was looking for a place to stay while visiting my daughter at Bucknell University in central pa. I happened to find this place while googling a vrbo-type place and found this fabulous place to stay. This is our 2nd weekend to stay at this lovely cottage (used to be a barn) which has wonderful sleeping accommodation for many people. It's a large studio with a kitchen, desk, dining area, bathroom, living room and bedroom. There's a TV with Direct TV, a stereo system, a bookshelf with books, Dvd's and Cd's.
If there are more than 2 people staying, the owners add a twin bed. There's also a futon and a sofa sleeper for 1. In speaking with the owner, she really wanted to make this place as comfortable as can be and has added many amenities to make our stay comfortable. The refrigerator has jam, butter, peanut butter, fruit, yogurt, granola, orange juice to get your morning started. She also provides guests with bread or muffins in the morning. Of course there is coffee or tea ready to brew.
When you wake up in the morning, you open up the blinds to a beautiful yard which you can wander around and enjoy the arbor swing. I wish I had discovered this place sooner because it's a wonderful and relaxing place to stay. -

We happened upon the barn quite by accident and were so glad we did! We found our stay to be like a mini-vacation. The barn has a relaxing feel, totally different than all those chain hotels on the highway. It is off the beaten path, but in a great location if you want to be close to the college or the town of Lewisburg. The breakfast was great and the convenience can't be beat. There was a variety of seating areas, so you're bound to be comfortable somewhere. It actually turned out to be a great place to hang out with our daughter apart from the college.
