Raleigh, NCExcellent Cabin!!!
Left on 09/06/2012 for a stay in September 2012
This cabin is wonderful. It is larger than it appears in the photos and is located close to Lexington and Buena Vista, Va but remains secluded. It abuts a slow moving river and has great views from the screened porch and deck. The rooms are very clean and check-in is easy. The owners are a delight to deal with. Highly recommended.

I have been staying at the cabin for 5 years now. What a wonderful relaxing place. Sitting on the porch and enjoying the wildlife and serenity of the creek and property is my favorite part. Location is an easy drive into town for groceries or visiting Lexington.
My Family loves the time we spend together there and look forward to it all year. -

Secluded, historic, nostalgic, comfortable, thoughtful down to the last detail! 5 bedrooms, 3 baths, private sitting areas and swing porches-rooms just go on and on-1840's log cabin charm on one end blended seamlessly with modern king bed/picture window over the woods & creek on the other end. Great jacuzzi for two, great slow lazy tubing in the creek out back. We hate to write this rave review becuse if you find out what a neat place this is there will never be room for us again! Laura is an excellent hostess and nearby Lexington is a beautiful charming town. Worth the trip!

Ellicott City, MDA wonderful family reunion (without a lot of sleep!)
Left on 09/18/2011 for a stay in August 2011
Our first three grandchildren were born this year - one in late February, one in late May and one in early June. They are scattered across the Eastern half of the USa, so we planned this to be the first "reunion" of us, our five children, three children-in-law and three grandchildren. While the little ones didn't sleep very well (and, therefore, neither did the rest of us), that was not the fault of the cabin. We had a wonderful time together, and it was very special. Everyone loved the cabin, the peaceful setting and Lexington.

Left on 07/18/2011 for a stay in July 2011
The only negative was totally out of your control. The water level in the creek was very low, and we had looked forward to fishing. Otherwise, the accommodations were excellent. We look forward to returning again!

Wash DCFamily Vacation Cabin Experience
Left on 05/09/2011 for a stay in April 2011
Cool experience to stay in an 1800's cabin; you can feel the history as you enter the front door, the cabin had tons of charm. With the house extensions, everyone had their own place to sleep and get some privacy. The only thing I would say is that it was a bit expensive considering the accommodations within the cabin were average. I think some of the house furniture could be updated. Additionally, the kitchen could use some organization (IE: seems like tons of people left stuff behind so it needs to be cleaned out) also, the mattresses seems old and sagged on the first level floor cabin room. On the positive side, the location of this cabin is fairly awesome; lots of nature and privacy. Overall, a nice place for a large family to vacation. I would go again if the price were cheaper.
Response from Janeen S. Welsh - 05/11/2011
Owner
We appreciate the feedback and want you to know what we are doing in response. We are replacing some of the furniture. We are purchasing two new mattresses and box springs for the twin beds on first floor. And we are better organizing the kitchen, i.e. separating the silverware from the cooking utensils, making sure the plastic containers all have matching lids, etc... Again, thank you for the feedback.

The setting and size was wonderful for our purposes--visiting amy daughter, her friends and family enjoyed an afternoon away from campus for light refreshments during Parents weekend. We would prefer to have a shower on the first floor.
Very charming. -

This is our famiy's 3rd trip to Willow Haven in the past 7 years and we all (ages 3 to 65) love it! Lexington is one of our favorite spots, and Willow Haven provides the perfect spot to stay while enjoying all that Lexington and Rockbridge County have to offer.
Some of our favorite vacation memories are spent just hanging out at the cabin, both inside and out. It is such a peaceful, relaxing spot. -

We had a great time.. It is close enough to VMI to get back and forth without too much hassel.. We had plenty of room, but we did not use the upstairs loft.. when i did check that area, it was very hot and would have been difficult to sleep up there, unless there is a separate unit to cool that area.. But, it did not affect us, so that is just fyi... It is also very nice to not have to bring towels, linens etc.. since you are rushed as it is esp. a busy weekend like graduation.. It was perfect for out cookout by the river and everyone raved about the cabin and wanted to know how we found it.. !!! I have already recommended it.. !!

It's a 5 bedroomon cabin on a large creek. It is close to town, but far enough away that you feel like it's the boonies. The owner responded quickly to my call inquiring about the fireplace. We took 4 teenagers. They all loved it. I've never taken them all to a single place (other than Disney) that I could say that about.

Norfolk, VAFamily get together in Lexington
Left on 10/29/2010 for a stay in June 2010
The Willow Haven was a wonderful place to have a family get together with lots of kids. The location is private yet convenient to Lexington and other Shenandoah Valley tourist sites. There is nearby swimming. The cabin has plenty of room to sleep large families. It is clean and well maintained. The only detraction is the very limited kitchen space, appliances and utensils. I am sure we will return in the future.
