What a fantastic place! My girlfriend and I and our two very active dogs were in heaven during our weekend stay. The huge property was fantastic for tiring out furry friends out. The house (which is beautiful and amazing) has every little detail. I brought so much I didn't need (tea kettle, salt and pepper, sugar, cork screw, etc).
P.S. Loved the hot tub!

My wife, my dog and I all had an excellent weekend at ashwood Hill. A spacious, charming cabin nestled in the woods. Perfect solitude but not too far from "civilization." a short walk brings you to a hillside where you can watch sunsets over the Blue Ridge every night. We definitely plan to come back!

Herndon, VAExcellent Weekend Getaway
Left on 09/10/2010 for a stay in August 2010
Every aspect of our visit was superior. Ashwood Hill Cottage was comfortable, and the proprietors provided for all our needs, including the needs of our dog (the place is pet friendly as well, which was a big plus for us). A nice touch was the fact that, although we had our own food, a wide variety of condiments were available just in case we needed something. The seclusion was most appreciated; the cottage was a good romantic getaway. We were able to walk the grounds with our dog, who enjoyed exploring the short trails on the property. The cottage was clean, there were plenty of linens, and the outdoor hot tub was a fun amenity. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are certain to return.

Baltimore, MDAshwood Hill is peaceful, private, and relaxing.

This was our second visit to ashwood Hill Cottage. If you enjoy kicking back and decompressing from the fast-paced city life, this is the ideal place. The solitude, privacy, and return to nature gave us the piece of mind that we so desperately needed. We discovered the Milky Way was still there, as we enjoyed a crackling fire in the backyard. We're looking forward to our next visit.

Craigsville, WVCozy, Clean Cabin for Friends Reunion
Left on 08/14/2010 for a stay in July 2010
My college friends and I have spent summer get-to-gethers here for 3 trips now. We have enjoyed everything, which made us want to return. We especially like the secluded area so we can stay comfy in our "jammies" when we want. Ashwood Hill is kept up like we would keep it ourselves. The surrounding areas have lots to do and see. Nice for just relaxing "away from it all" as well.

If you are looking for a place to get away from it all, this is it. Tucked away in the Blue Ridge Mountains, this quaint, yet roomy cabin provides convenient seclusion. Out of sight from anything other than the wildlife, you are left to enjoy nature, your thoughts, or the hot tub under the stars. Still, the amenities of beautiful Lexington, Va are just 20 minutes away. A great place to gain some peace of mind!

I have stayed at Ashwood Hill twice now, once in the Spring and once in the Fall. Was very satisfied both times with the lodging. My cousin and I were seeking a pet-friendly place to meet and bring our dogs. We were very very pleased with this log house/cottage, and fell in love with the surrounding countryside. We found everything we needed available at our fingertips, and ate most of our meals there, while doing day-trips to Lexington or up on the Blue Ridge Parkway or going to other scenic and fun places closeby. The cabin has everything promised on the website -even down to the wonderfully comfortable beds and fully equipped kitchen. Games and movies are provided, and we found that we enjoyed just staying there and not even going out, which we did one day when it rained all day.
This place is a favorite travel destination now, and we plan to return as often as our schedules will allow. There's no need to pack much - just a change of clothes and a little food. The rest is already taken care of.
I would recommend this place to other travelers.

arlington, vaFantastic place to get away
Left on 05/24/2009 for a stay in April 2009
This was our second stay at Ashwood Hill in the past year. We enjoyed our first trip (in November '08) so much that we decided it would be the perfect place for our honeymoon. This trip was even more wonderful than our first. The cottage is beautiful and the surrounding area is secluded enough to offer the privacy we desired while still being close enough to civilization that we could run out to get misc. things and still be back in about 40 minutes. Whether its for a couple of days or an extended stay Ashwood Hill has everything you could want.

Ashwood Hill Cottage is a beautiful, comfortable and relaxing place for a get away.
We love to sit on the porch with a cup of coffee at daybreak and watch the deer walk across the yard. The rooms are lovely and the bedrooms and baths are well appointed with every convenience to make you feel at home. In the evening?-a glass of wine and a fire in the woodstove will wrap up a day that you can fill with walks outdoors, reading and luxurious naps or a visit to the local vineyard or flour mill. We like to bring meals that we prepared at home making dinners easy while on vacation. Perfect in every way for us city dwellers!
