Loved this place. Cozy, no frills but absolutely all that you need. Best is close to the beach and elevator ride down to all Marriott amenities do you feel like your away from the hustle but still can enjoy what Marriott patrons enjoy. Would stay again.

Left on 12/10/2012 for a stay in October 2012
My wife and I stayed here on our first evernight stay on Kauai. The location is great and what an experience on arrival to enter the incrediable entry of the Mariott. The unit is a cute little place with character. It provided all we needed. The view was spectacular and each morning I was excited to see what cruise ship was in the Harbor as I enjoyed my coffee on the Lanai. We were very happy with the facilities at the Marriott and the easy access on the elevator that opens right in the resort. We are considering our next vacation date even as I write.

Mahalo for your review. We are glad to hear you enjoyed this little "cottage on the hill" overlooking beautiful Kalapaki Bay. We do agree that the view is spectacular as well as having the resort use is a great blend for a casual vacation on Kauai! We do look forward to having you back to Pali Kai.

The location is very good..from the view..but..the noise from the airplanes...the branches from a tree rubbing the walls...the rooster and chickens alarming..the helicopters noise..we just did not get a good night of rest . To bad, since we loved the easy access to the beach with the elevator and the very friendly neighbors.

Left on 11/01/2012 for a stay in October 2012
It was a little smaller then we exspected but, the view at sunset time was unbelievable. It was very clean and we loved to sit on the deck with a cocktail and enjoy the sunset before our next dinner excursion.

Mahalo for your review. The Pali Kai Cottages 17 is one of the original cottages on the bluff overlooking Kalapaki Bay. We do agree it has a sensational view, the resort amenities are great and all included in the rent! Not a very big cottage; but we have had familes come back year after year to Pali Kai 17A. and just enjoy the charm of this little "cottage on the hill."

Everything was, as described by the agent. We are pleased.
The home was very comfortable.
Loved the location, being able to look out on the bay was very relaxing.
My husband found the bed too soft, so he slept on the day bed.
The weather was great, we never turned the air conditioner on, we wanted that island weather to envelope us. It was great!
There was a bit too much furniture in there, we thought. -

We spent 14 days as guest at Pali Kai, and wished we had booked for a longer stay. The condo is not new and doesn't have granite counter tops - but from my point of view who needs them. It is the most well appointed condo I have stayed in in the 35 years of traveling to Hawaii. It had every thing, including some coffee for the first morning there. The bedroom is small but is fine for sleeping and it is a queen bed. There are sleeping areas in the living room if you need them. The deck is large and there were beach toys (we added two boogie boards). We never needed the air-conditioning so I can't say if it helped. We lowered the blinds on the deck when the sun came in and it was fine. The bathroom is retro 70's in design with a wonderful shower and plenty of towels, hairdryer, etc. I cannot say enough about our wonderful stay. If you are looking for a typical Hawaiian cottage with a marvelous view this is it. We found it restful, walking distance to all sorts of activities, and a great place to stay

Aloha and Mahalo for your review.
Pali Kai Cottage (and Studio) is a great place to stay! You have the "hotel" experience with the fabulous pool, hot tubs, restaurants on property yet staying in a lil cottage on the hill overlooking it all. We do hope you'll be back again someday!

Perfect spot on Kauai. Easy access to kalipaki bay and Marriott pool/restaurant areas, yet private cottage to return to. Also central location for all parts of the island. Could park car right in front of front door which was a big plus for us with kids and gear. Cute cottage- clean and charming. Quite small. Ok for family of four with young kids but not teenagers for example. We loved it.

Oceanside, CAExcellent amenities, but the house had bug problems
Left on 06/27/2012 for a stay in June 2012
I wish I could give this place a perfect review. My family absolutely loved the access to the Marriott pool and beach, which were both near perfect. The unit was adequate - nothing fancy, slightly run-down, but functional. Our problem was bugs. I don't know if it was bed bugs or spiders, but we were all covered with huge red itchy bites during our time at this unit. Because of that problem, I wouldn't come back.

Aloha and mahalo for your review.
We are sorry to hear about the bites you experienced during your stay on Kauai`. Prior to your stay and since your visit, we have had no other mentions about bugs; but if slider doors are left open (especially at sunset), mosquitoes can appear and we suspect this may have been a possible cause. We too love the pool (and fitness center) access given to all guests who stay at Pali Kai at no additional cost; not to mention the fabulous golf discounts at the 2 courses on property. -

The Pali Kai cottage is so well-stocked with everything you could possibly need. It's very clean and well-cared for. The view is incredible...we were there for a week and saw four cruise ships come into the harbor. This is our third stay there and we thorougly enjoyed it, once again.

Left on 08/22/2011 for a stay in May 2011
Very nice cottage on a bluff overlooking the bay, mountain and Marriott Hotel. Having access to the Marriott and it's pool, beach and ammenities is worth it alone! Centrally located to go West or North as well. While not a huge cottage, it's comforable and has a very Hawaiian feeling. If you're looking for something extremely fancy, then spend a bunch more $ in a hotel somewhere else. Air condition worked fine (not sure why someone said otherwise - just close the windows!). Bed was comfortable (I am Premier Hilton Diamond memeber as I travel too much, but this bed was just fine and I slept well). Kitchen was cute. Perfect for two on a budget. Good for 3 people. It's not glamorous but it's not a boring hotel - and did I mention having access to the Mariott pool???!

Mahalo for your review. This is a little cottage on the hill with excellent benefits...ie Marriott Resort Pool & Fitness Center and a full kitchen! You get the resort benefits while staying in a cottage...best of both worlds! Mahalo and aloha!

Pasadena, CAAn excellent choice for the cost-conscious.
Left on 08/17/2011 for a stay in July 2011
A small apartment, furnished in the owner's taste, with a generous lanai and gorgeous view of the bay. The main bed is a queen in a very small room, and the a/C only cools the main room. The house is set back too far to get much breeze, even with all windows open, we were very warm the entire time. The couch pulls out into a king bed, but the mattress should be replaced as it is uncomfortably thin.
Come for the view, for the access to the Hotel's pool and golf course, for the location. If you seek creature comforts, seek elsewhere and be prepared to spend significantly more. -

I was so dissatisfied with this rental, I was given a refund. I intended to stay one week but gave up after two nights. The bed was so soft, I couldn't sleep in it and as a result slept on the floor of the living room the second night. The bed itself occupies most of the bedroom so there is litlle room to move about. There is a small a/c unit in the living room but the cool air didn't make it into the bedroom hence it was very hot even with a small desktop fan in the room. The sleeper sofa had no linen and was badly rusted. Good view of bay but that's it. I stayed the rest of the week in the nearby Marriott.

Aloha and Mahalo for your review.
We did receive a call on the evening of the 4th of July holiday (two full days after your arrival) demanding that we come and fix the 2 outlets that had tripped while you were cooking something in the microwave. You had said that the fuse was not tripped; but indeed it was; so that was very easily remedied. Once there, you then advised us about the bed not being to your liking. Because you were unhappy, we offered to relocate you or refund you 100%; even tho you had stayed 2 nights without contacting us about the bed. By the way, the sheets for the sofa/sleeper are conveniently located in the drawer at the base of the window seat adjacent to the sofa.
Overall the reviews for this property are very favorable. However, not everyman's desires are the same and fortunately we understood this, and do our best to keep our clients happy. -

SeattleLihue - Nice View, Roomy Lanai, Kind of Small Quarters
Left on 05/25/2011 for a stay in May 2011
Beautiful view of Kalapaki Bay from roomy lanai (w/BBQ, table seats 4-6). Bedroom is almost too small and the bed is a double, not even a Queen, kitchen has all essentials, nice eating space plus seating around TV and couch folds out to bed. Rental access from Mariott property + security gate made it feel secluded and safe. During our stay, it was quiet (no noisy neighbors - just the roosters crowing) and the block of homes/condos is very well kept. Nice to return here after a full day's worth of activity. Best part of this rental is you are a guest of Marriott with use of their gorgeous pool, beach, fitness center, etc.!!! Good for couples and families with younger kids. Because there's not a lot of square footage, 4 adults (or big kids) would feel cramped and besides... teens would find it too quiet.

aloha and mahalo for your review. Yes, the usage of the gorgeous Marriott Pool and fitness center is such a huge bonus for Pali Kai guests!! This cottage is perfect for 2; 4 is allowed if you happen to be on a budget! :) The bed is a queen; not a double. Glad to hear you also enjoyed the spacious lanai and views of Kalapaki Bay!

Pali Kai 17A was perfect for my husband and me during our 2 week stay in Kauai. We had access to the Marriott pool area and gym. My husband also got the kaimaina rates to the Kauai Lagoons golf course which was half the Marriott rate. The kitchen and bathroom was pretty well stocked.
There were a few things that could have been better - cottage is a bit outdated, bed could have been more comfortable, living room couch could have been cleaner. But the pros definitely knocked out the cons.
The views from the balcony were great and we really couldnt have asked for more. Cottage A was cozy with the 2 of us. I cant imagine it being comfortable with additional people. -

We took our children to Kauai this year for our son's graduation present and had an excellent time. This cottage is perfectly suited for what we needed and Nicki at Garden Island Properties was extremely nice and accomodating from the first conversation I had with her over the phone when I booked this cottage almost a year earlier. The view over Kalipaki Beach was wonderful and we enjoyed watching the surfers as we drank our morning coffee on the lanai. We also ate several evening meals out there with a spectacular view. We were pleasantly surprised by the setup of the cottage.

Pali Kay 17A is a wonderful cottage and we had the added amenity of being able to use the Marriott's grounds, and pool while there. I felt that our cottage gave us a better view of the ocean, than people got when they stayed at the Marriott. Also, we had a full kitchen, and we were able to save huge amounts of money by cooking for ourselves. This was my favorite vacation ever!
