Pros:
- Marriott pool passes!
- great location, very natural
- wonderful ocean wave sounds at night
- parking right outside the unit
- view of the water (partially obstructed)
- comfortable bed and living room
- very cozy feel
- short drive to Costco & etc.
- free laundry facilities
Cons:
- cockroaches; there were 2 dead in the unit when we arrived and another one showed up later
- palm tree directly in front of the unit which blocks about 1/3 of your total view
- bass from the music at Duke's across the bay vibrated the unit during the late afternoon and late into the night-it was so loud that we actually thought it was coming from next door
- spider webs were covering the entranceway to the unit when we arrived
- wi-fi didn't work for 3+ days of our stay until much back and forth to get it fixed
- coffee pot leaked water all over the counter each morning -

Pali Kai 17C - Great Rental

We just returned from a wonderful stay in Kauai at the Pali Kai studio 17C. The place was perfect for 2 people. The owners have stocked the kitchen with all supplies to cook in the unit. There were even a few supplies such as coffee filters, spices, etc. to make the stay more enjoyable. The unit has plenty of towels, including some beach towels. The bathroom was fully stocked under the sink... I needed some aloe for a sunburn and I was surprised to find it available as an emergency in the bathroom.
The unit is very clean and we seemed to be in a quiet area. We went to sleep each night listening to the sound of the ocean below. Access to the Marriott amenities was a huge plus! There are restaurants within a 1 mile walking distance. Parking was right in front of the unit.
The location for us was ideal as we headed out each day to explore a different part of the island. There is a washer/dryer on site which was nice. We arrived at night, so it was a little tough to find the exact unit based upon the address. I'm sure if you arrive in daylight it would have been no problem. We could have used an extra blanket as the nights got a little chilly. You do need to walk down about 15 stairs to access the front door of the unit. If this is difficult for you, I would not lean towards this property.
Overall, I would highly recommend this unit for 2 people. The owners were fabulous as we met one of them when we came back to the unit to shower up. -

I found this unit on Trip advisor and emailed for information. They were quick to respond with information about the unit. The unit was small but had the basics that you need. The kitchen was well furnished, there was a laundry room and beach supplies provided. It is a perfect unit for 2 adults and maybe 1 child. This is a great unit because of the partnership with the Marriott hotel too. I was able to take the Marriott airport shuttle to the hotel when we arrived. I rented my car at the Enterprise located on the Marriott property which was much less expensive than the airport location. We were also able to use the pool and fitness center at the Marriott.

Wonderful spot and tremendous amenities. If you like to hear the waves breaking at night, if you like to stroll for a swim in the morning, or
play one of the best courses on the island at a reduce rate this is your spot. It is time for the owners to add a little TLC to the apartment. Furniture, kitchen items, blankets all need upgrading. -

The condo was fine.
Cons:
1. Once you get into the resort, it takes a little while to drive up to the actual condo
2. The bed was very loud and you could sense all movement, so if one person moved in the middle of the night, you would hear and feel it
3. The balcony was not really a balcony, it was more of a foot wide section that you could step out on, but not sit out on and relax.
Pros:
1. the view and sound of the ocean
2. A/C
3. Kitchen, and everything provided in it (dishes, fridge, stove, oven, blender, coffee maker, etc)
4. private/quiet
5. easy access to the beach
6. location was good in relation to the rest of the island.
7. french doors that opened up to "balcony"

We do agree that the view is quite spectacular and the sound of the ocean below you is awesome!
There is parking just outside of your unit as you drive through the resort itself. All the private homes on this property also enjoy the Kauai Marriott Resort fitness center, low golf rates at the 2 courses on property and use of the spectacular swimming pool & jacuzzis which are all included in the rate for this cozy studio. We do hope you'll be back! -

On the plus side, Studio 17C has an excellent location with scenic views of the mountains and the beach. The managers were very professional and responded quickly to problems. On the minus side, the studio is quite small, so I couldn't recommend it for fat people. The shower is especially tiny.

This property turned out to be so much more than we expected. A huge bonus was the fact that we had Marriott resort privileges, which made it so much easier to spend time on the beach (no worries about lugging mats or beach towels).
The beach is absolutely amazing too and the studio is located a very short walk from it. It's even a shorter walk to a spectacular golf course. The studio had oceanfront view. I think that it's better to stay at Pali Kai than the Marriott itself - more room, privacy, and fantastic views, not to mention a better price.
The studio itself was cozy and well appointed with all the right amenities.

Accommodation was adequate and quite clean,with good amenities, however reqired a few small items to make it "one aboe the next'. ie, Instructions on how to use the laundry switch, providing enough powder for one wash for two people, who travels with soap powder for washing clothes and who goes and buys a packet for a weeks holiday?. A Microwave is wonderful but useless if there are no items 'microwave safe' to be able to use it.

The apartment was well located and convenient to the airport after a long day of traveling from az. The view of the ocean was wonderful and the sound of waves at night lulled us to sleep. The kitchen was missing some basic items like a can opener and saran wrap for even basic cooking. The bed pillows were so soft as to be uncomfortable and we ended up having to buy pillows at a nearby Macys. Kauai is beautiful and we spent as much time out of the apartment so in the end we were reasonably satisfied.

We just started renting this studio cottage so we do apologize for the missing can opener!:( People have different preferences for pillows...we are sorry they were not to your liking...but glad to hear that you would "recommend this studio to your best friend"!! :) The usage of the Kauai Marriott Pool & fitness center and superb golf discounts as guest of Pali Kai is wonderful!!
