Experience the natural world your own way. Casa Roja is our 2 bedroom house, with an upstairs social room that can be used as a third bedroom. There is a mosquito net at the ready. Each literal bedroom has a door that locks, a queen size bed in each, and both have bathrooms adjacent to the bedroom.

The views from the upstairs social area are fantastic, as windows on 3 sides give one a view of the sea from two different perspectives, and from this vantage point, you can literally peer down into the jungle valley. Curious Howler monkeys can be seen from less than 20 feet away (we have trimmed the branches to keep them off the roof...). And an incredibly large tree in the jungle valley is home to a nest of toucans.

The downstairs living/kitchen opens directly to the large deck. We have a low-hanging roof that keeps our outside dining area dry, and the decks is outfitted with benches and sitting areas to watch the sunrise or sunset, and have group conversations and drinks.

One of the best features of this house are the showers. There is one on each floor, and they are designed open to the jungle. There are no houses, nor is there access below, and even so the plants have been allowed to grow to create a bit of privacy from. A huge shower head allows great hot water to pour down, as you bathe and take a shower at one, so to speak, with the jungle.

A very peaceful location and one to be experienced. The crashing waves can be heard from the bed, a 3 minute drive gets you to the main road, and the first beach access. 25 minutes to Puerto Viejo. 15 minutes to Manzanillo. Restaurants, grocery stores, and local places to rent bikes, kayaks, or even learn to dive - all easy access from this private location on a small hilltop overlooking the sea.

  After traveling around Costa Rica for several weeks with some challenging episodes, it felt really sweet to land at Casa Roja. Just me and my honey for a week in peace. We had this epic home to ourselves and could read lounging in the many options for hammocks and rocking chairs. Well equipped kitchen for cooking. Open floor plan of the upstairs was good for morning yoga. My only wish was for more sunshine, but the pouring rain at night with the open air floor plan was magic too. We felt safe and relaxed. Easy drive into town or to the beaches.
