Additional Location Information

Five kilometers away is Ahun, this is our nearest town with all amenities, also a lovely church which is worth a visit, there is a weekly market. If you continue on down the hill you will arrive at Mutier d'Ahun which sits on the river Creuse. There is a Roman bridge spanning the river and a Norman church overlooking the town. There are restaurants and bars in both Ahun and Mutier.
In the opposite direction, 10k away is Gueret, this is our regional capital city. Here you will find plenty of shops both in the old town and in the surrounding areas. There are museums of art and archaeology, a botanic garden, there is also a twice weekly market.
Close to Gueret is La Courtille which is a swimming and watersport lake with lifeguards on the beach during the Summer, also a short distance away there is a giant maze which is great fun, and an interesting wolf sanctuary.
Further afield there is Lac de Vasiviere which is said to be one of the largest man made lakes in France, here you will find all manner of water sports, a Chateau to visit and some nice restaurants. For the more energetic there is a treetop agility course which caters for all ages and abilities.
Well worth an all day visit is Limoges (60k), the capital of the Limousin, famous for it's porcelain and enamel ware. There are many factory shops where you can buy goods at reasonable prices. Also an interesting covered market.
If you prefer your swimming to be indoor, there are public pools at Gueret and Montlucon (54k).
There are many coarse fishing lakes in the area and in Gouzon there is a Trout lake, also in Gouzon there is an eighteen hole public golf course.
If you are interested in Tapestry then Aubusson (23)is the place for you as it is the Tapestry center of the area. It's a pretty town with museums and plenty of shops and restaurants.
So, if you include some of the most beautiful countryside and the purest air you could wish for, (it's the reason that we have so much lichen and Mistletoe growing here) you couldn't really ask for more whether you just want to relax and take it easy, wander round museums, or be more energetic, the choice is yours
