Amazing surroundings and such a peaceful atmosphere! The cabin had everything we wanted/needed for a relaxing getaway.
Great prices for a romantic getaway that has everything you'd want and not to mention the hosts are absolutely lovely which just topped our experience off!
From the amazing Jacuzzi (which we barley left) to the cosey cabin with austar, we couldnt have been happier! The breakfast and BBQ packs are also larger than expected with delicious amounts of food!
My partner and i will be back to visit in the near future without a doubt!

The service was perfect with everything provided and no detail left behind. The cabin was well setup with enough room to make it feel comfortable.
The location was picturesque, with the waterfall passing by and beautiful gardens surrounding the cabin. The amenities were environmentally considerate, surpisingly with none of the usual unpleasentries assoiated with that type of toilet.
We loved the fact that Ian and Karen were friendly, understanding and helpful but professional at the same time. We loved the massages provided at the hideout and the fact that it was organised by Ian and Karen and we didn't have to worry about it.
The things we liked least were the absence of curtins, but as customed to privacy and used to having curtains, it took a bit of getting used to. It never greatly bothered us though. The other thing was the road being close enough to hear the bikers racing through the hills. That didn't greatly bother us that much either.
All in all, we really enjoyed our stay at Waterfall Hideout. We just wished that our circumstances had let us stay longer. Maybe next time... -

Couldn't have asked for a more relaxing time. The Waterfall Hideout is the perfect little getaway for anyone needing a break from reality. Floating in the hot bubbles of our own private spa while listening to the river flowing and watch the birds jump about the rainforest was just what we needed after a day of adventuring in the mountains. Was hard to say good-bye.

A lovely spot with friendly, helpful hosts! We went on a Friday afternoon and stayed until Sunday. Gorgeous little creek mere steps from the accommodation (leave the windows open and hear it through the night as you sleep) with modern amenities (including spa bath overlooking the creek) in a very peaceful spot. Awesome bird life, we saw a turtle in the creek and dangled our legs over the fresh water waterfall a stroll from the cottage. Nice private cottage with all you could need for a weekend away. Cute little town a 5min drive with a convenience store and fruit shop. Very jealous of Ian & Karen, the position is just magic! Thanks for everything.

what a hidden gem this cottage is, in a rainforest setting with a bubbling stream and manicured lawns. Privacy and seclusion are the key elements of our stay and that's just what we were searching for. No phone ,no computer, just gentle rain on the roof while sipping champagne in the covered outdoor spa and enjoying nature. A truly memorable 25th anniversary getaway. We will certainly be returning !

After leaving Nerang my wife and I drove through the Numinbah valley towards Chillingham. Upon reaching Chillingham, we turned towards Tyalgum, in just a few minutes we reached Karen and Ian Strong's property. There we found Ian warmly greeting us in front of his home.
Ian was forward in ensuring our stay to be enjoyable. He guided us to their only cabin nestled by the creek which was surrounded by open lawn areas and gardens. Once there he assists us in familiarizing us with the cabin's facilitates.
Once settled in, we discovered the cabin to be just as we had expected. Totally peaceful and the seclusion just the way we hoped. It was an oasis to relax and unwind. The cabin was well equipped with a kitchen and a small dining table for two. A cozy fireplace for those wintery cold nights sitting opposite to the sofa. Just next to the fireplace we found HD TV with austar, a DVD player and ample supply of DVD movies stored in the chest of draws.
At night we had a choice to either cook and dine in. But, I preferred to BBQ, the webber was very easy to use and allowed me to perform many styles of cooking. On other nights, we enjoyed the various restaurants, clubs and bars that Murwillumbah had to offer. Later on, just as we have found back at the cabin the large spa to be warm, relaxing and romantic, with a nice glass of our favorite beverage. We couldn't help it but to drift away.
In the morning we found ourselves woken up by the local song birds. On one such morning we had a cheeky visitor, who perched on the door handle and starts tapping on the window to let us know, it was time to get up. At least that's the only visitor we ever had.
During the day, we forced ourselves away from the cabin and visited Uki and Tyalgum. At Tyalgum, I can recommend Flutterbies for lunch or dinner. Later, we wandered around and visited the local shops.
On our last day, I can only have wished that we could've stayed a little longer. I can fully recommend the Rainforest Spa Cabin. -

This was the second time we had decided to stay at the Waterfall Hideout - the first being September last year.
Whilst the weather was anything but kind to us this time, it could not dull the feeling of joy at returning to this most delightful spot. As usual, Karen and Ian were the perfect hosts, always being on hand to help in any way that was necessary.
This is a delightful cabin. Comfortable, extremely well equipped, and set in a beautiful part of the property - with a stream running around to where the waterfall is located. Anyone who is looking for a time where they can regenerate themselves and enjoy the natural surroundings, particularly the beautiful birds that abound, and the many shades of green that are evident - this is the place for you. The delightful country roads and the small towns that are around many of the corners are a sheer delight - as are the people who will be happy to tell you all the local stories.
Karen and Ian can be justly proud of this great 'retreat'- and can be assured that we would be very happy to return whenever it is possible, and would warmly recommend this to all who prefer the peace of the countryside to the chaos of the cities. -

Ian and Karen made our stay very welcoming and pleasurable. The availability of the hot tub on the verandah was a big hit and so thoroughly enjoyable. After trekking up Mount Warning it was a wonderful way to soak away the soreness of the journey. My English boyfriend was visiting australia for the first time and I wanted a place that was romantic, luxurious, private, tropical, close to beaches but in the rainforest, beautiful flora and wonderful wildlife around. Waterfall Hideout ticked all the boxes and then some!
We booked in for 3 nights but stayed for 5, and could have been longer if we had the time. Right from the very start Karen and Ian were the perfect hosts. They gave us a great rundown on what to do and see, as well as instructing us on platypus viewing (which we saw immediately), and then leave you to it. They are prepared to do anything to make your stay perfect and they succeed. We had a long drive the day we arrived and Ian went out of his way to get us a lovely Chinese dinner from Murwillumbah! It was the perfect way to start our stay.
The hideout is superb, with the sounds, smells and beauty of the bush all around. The birds were fantastic, especially the whip birds, and the cicadas added to the perfect setting. The platypus was the highlight - she was fabulous. Watching the stars at night whilst in the spa is a memory we will never forget. Even the rain was perfect as it flowed down the raincups. The cabin was fully equipped and made it feel like home without the clutter! It was so comfortable, relaxing and peaceful - we did not want for anything and neither will you.
We have recommended the hideout to friends and will continue to do so. Friends from England have already booked in. We know they will have a memorable time.
Karen and Ian have a created a wonderful hideaway which is guaranteed to take you to a place of peace and tranquillity where you connect with nature, yourself and each other. It is perfect and made us realise how much you actually need to truly enjoy life. Thank you.

Karen and Ian,
Wade and I would like to extend our thanks to you for offering such a fantastic place to unwind and relax. We were blessed with being able to stay for two nights and it was just enough time to explore the cabin's wonderful surrounds and experience all that the area has to offer. We were astounded by your attention to detail, the cleanliness and organisation of the cabin. The spa was a highlight as was falling asleep to the sounds of the waterfall each night. The indoor fire kept us snug all night long and we enjoyed waking up to the delights of the rainforest. A few kookaburras, whip-birds and our favourite, the local owl!
We would not hesitate to recommend your couples retreat to anyone in the future and will be visiting again soon.
It was the perfect way to spend a surprise birthday weekend!
Thank you! -

My wife and I have stayed at Numerous cabins and cottages. This cabin is by far the best you can get. Talk about private we did not see a sole the whole time we were there (expect when checking in and being greeted with a bottle of bubbly). The spa on the deck got a lot of use and looked brand new and clean. The cabin itself was just the right size for the 2 of us and had everything we needed for a great 3 nights. I could go on and on but just go here and see for yourself you won't be disappointed.(Will definately be back)

The location was super quiet and nestled amongst trees and with a beautiful river flowing just a stones throw away.
The cabin itself was very well equipped with everything you could possibly need, and the heated spa was very luxurious. The owners are very friendly and greeted us with a bottle of champagne on arrival, and then pretty much left us to it.

Absolutely fantastic! We stayed last winter for 3 nights and didn't want it to end. Hosts Karen & Ian were very welcoming, ensured we were well informed of the amenities and the environs & had all the privacy in the world. The cabin was impressively immaculate and well designed with all mod-cons and everything we needed for a self-catered break away. Loved the fireplace which was already stacked with wood & waiting to be ignited. The bathroom was superb with a huge shower and lots of dressing place. The highlight of our stay was sitting in the luxurious heated spa with a glass of red listening to the bubbling brook, what pure bliss! There is as much or as little to do at Waterfall Hideout as you choose! From walking the grounds & discovering the wildlife, to having bbq breakfasts on the deck or simply reclining in front of the fire reading a book. Loved the raincups!!! Congratulations Karen & Ian for providing a truly relaxing, tranquil holiday experience. Can't wait to go back.
