A "Dream Home away From Home"

Left on 12/11/2012 for a stay in December 2012

I couldn't possibly put into words how amazing the Heartrock Cottage is, but I will try...: I live at Roads End: we recently moved here from Washington, my husband was called to St Peter the Fisherman in Lincoln City. That being said, I have 8 siblings (many in Wa)whom I encourage always to visit us. I encouraged my sister to rent this place, she did, and what a place it is. Cascade Head is just a stroll from the property, the home is the oldest in Roads End, the cottage is beyond cozy and cute. This is the only place in Roads End with a private, coastal pine canopied yard facing the ocean. There are chairs and benches in the yard, all over, that have $1 million dollar views! You can watch the Sea Lion Parade from the living room, and the charm is off the scale. If I had a million dollars I would offer it to make it my own. We played games while listening to Stan Getz, there is a fireplace, and enough room for 6 to sleep comfortably. The quality time you will have here is off the charts. I encourage everyone who wants to have an ' offthe grid' vacation (you'll have to go outside for a good cell signal and no wifi) to call Doug and Maraya and make this their go to getaway. God bless you Doug & Maraya!... Liza

Nothing fancy, just down home comfort-- afterall, is'nt that what its all about. The managers were wonderful and I just can't say enough about this adorable little cottage on the beach. 10 stars!!!

      The Perfect Rustic Getaway

Left on 09/03/2012 for a stay in August 2012

The owner, Maraya, was fantastic to deal with, very thorough. She accepted us last minute and was very helpful in locating the house. The cottage is vintage, 1945, and that is exactly how she presented it to us. It is not a house for people looking for internet, wi-fi or haute couture. It is a cottage for people who wish to relax by the fire drinking coffee and doing a puzzle while your friends/family come and go. It is centrally located just a few minutes drive from Safeway, coffee houses and and restaurants. And it is literally 15 steps from the most amazing stretch of beach Oregon has to offer. I highly suggest brewing a cup and taking in the sunset on the lower veranda with your nearest and dearest. (or by your lonesome, if peace and quiet is what you are seeking)

      Supurb retreat!

Left on 08/12/2012 for a stay in August 2012

My friend and I had not had a get-a-way for 20 years, and the Oregon Coast was calling. She did a search and found Heartrock Cottage, and what a find it was!! If you are interested in a house with a view of the ocean from every window, but no view from the ocean, this is it! If you are interested in a private yard, observation deck, sand buckets for gathering treasures on the beach, a wood burning fire place fire in the evenings and very comfortable beds, this is it! If you don't feel like cooking, the owner has a lovely friendly restaurant called Maxwell's that is very close-by. You can brows the collection of poems written by a former owner that rests beside other books on the bookshelf, and you can admire the hand made quilts and rock collection housed in the cottage. Her poem about the cottage reflects the peace and quiet of this best kept secret: Our Roads-End beach house is a retreat, Peaceful and renewing, Close to nature outdoors... Submerged in music indoors...As Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" floats from the loft. Blending with the rhythm of ocean swells. Pounding shoreward.

Our family has stayed at this cozy, affordable, private cottage for the past 5 years and just booked our sixth. We love staying here because the location is unbeatable with its own beach access. We enjoy strolling the beach and collecting heart shaped rocks. The owner is delightful and easy to work with. We can't say enough nice about this place. If you want glitzy and new, choose somewhere else. If you want charming and comfortable, this is your place!

      Cold

Left on 03/09/2012 for a stay in November 2011

I will say that the lot was nice and secluded. they just need to bulldoze the house and start over. We never got the place warm enough to take off our long sleeved shirts due to the inefficient heater. The owner gave us the wrong address in her e-mail and we couldn't find the place in the dark, had to go to her business and get the address as she was out of town and couldn't be reached by phone. Floors were very dirty and when we came in wet from the rain, we had mud puddles on the floor (yes, it does rain at the beach in November. No firewood, no one told us to bring any, if the electricity had gone out we would have gone to a hotel, there was no way you could stay warm. Land line phone kept ringing, someone looking for a previous tennant. Lights didn't work, motion lights outside either wouldn't come on or kept coming off and on even though no one was outside. She offered us a free stay to make up for the confusion about the address, lack of firewood, bad cable connections, etc., wouldn't stay there again, even if it was for free! My advice, take a day and go look at the places before you book on-line, photos don't tell the whole story.

thank you for your comments , we have offer you a free stay for your trouble , you make it sound sooo bad , we know the cottage is old and unfortunally the power goes out sometimes in November because of the winds and storms , you seem to have made your point , God bless you anyway , we are still very proud of our little cottage at the beach , sorry we can't please the entire world but the good news is that 9 out 10 people that has stay in our cottage have been very happy , so with that said , good luck to you hope you have a blessed year! regards. Maraya(about giving you the wrong address I am human , we make mistakes sometimes, don"t you?, sorry again, find it in your heart to forgive)

Left on 01/23/2012 for a stay in October 2011

I have traveled here for five years to relax and regroup. It is right on the beach- go out the back door and down the stairs to the beach. It has the most majestic views that are absolutely mesmerizing. Coffee every morning watching the waves roll in from the bench on the little observation deck!. This the perfect cottage -not a Taj Mahal - just very cozy! Everything you need is here -. cook and have dinner or any meal overlooking the waves! Maraya is very accommodating and goes the extra mile! Cudos!. Also pet friendly!

      Cozy Coastal Cottage Charmer!

Left on 09/12/2011 for a stay in August 2011

We absolutely loved our stay in this sweet little vintage cottage. Very private setting and great beach access right out the back yard! A good ocean view from inside the house is an important feature for us. This place has that from the main living areas. Decorated in what I call Beach Cottage Kitsch & if not done right can be overwhelming; but we found the decor here to be very charming & this property to feel very homey, welcoming & relaxing. Great wood burning fireplace- another plus for us! Appreciated the prompt communications with the owners! Thanks Maraya :)

This was a girls trip for my moms 80th birthday. We had an excellent time! The cottage was just the right size for us and everything we needed was provided. The views from the back yard were amazing and sunsets spectacular. The house was clean, quiet and comfy. Maraya was so helpful with the rental and answered all of our questions very quickly. She provided us with information regarding places to eat, things to do and well, pretty much everything else we could think of to ask before we got there. I would recommend this wonderful get away cottage with no hesitation. Thank you Maraya for helping us make my mom's birthday a huge success!
