ChillicotheBeautiful and relaxing get-away! Highly recommended!
Left on 05/02/2013 for a stay in March 2013
This is a very spacious, lovely, two-story home that is tastefully decorated with beautiful furnishings and located in a peaceful country setting. The kitchen is well-equipped with the necessary utensils and appliances for cooking meals during your stay. Even the entertainment is covered with a variety of books to read, movies to watch, games to play as well as satellite tv and internet access. The service is excellent and the owner offered wonderful conversation. I recommend planning to stay several days or even weeks to get the most out of this wonderful home.

I stayed in the Powell's Country Guest House for a Mom's getaway weekend. What a wonderful place! Clean, cozy, quiet, and warm. The beds are very comfortable and Tauna is a very fine hostess. Everything you need in the kitchen to make any meal. I would definitely return for another visit!!!

St LouisPeaceful and nostalgic

I love it that the house is 100 years old and it has its original wood floors, doors, and window sills. It even has its original cast iron tub! Super clean. Comfy couch to snuggle down to a movie or a book.
My purpose was to "get-away," so the location was perfect. I really enjoyed the peace and serenity of seeing cows grazing nearby.
Tauna gave me lots of space, but was immediately available when I needed something.
Overall an awesome experience. I will come again. -

Sturgis, MIIt was a very pleasant stay.

The location for us was very convenient. The rooms were so nicely furnished and clean. The bed was very comfortable. Although, because of Kathy and Pat's being so near, we didn't really use the kitchen much (except for the refrigerator),5//15found it to be very well furnished and convenient.
I believe, we would have liked the front door (to the living room) to be able to lock and more secure. Probably our experience of living in the town where no one leaves their doors unlocked.
Also, though the bathroom was nicely refurnished, we would have been more comfortable if there had been some type of bar, handle or pole to assist using the tub. When you're older this seems to be more important, I guess.Response from Tauna Powell - 07/19/2012

Thank you for your review! We really appreciate your time. You are right about the front door and although at the time of your stay only the storm doors could be locked, we have since installed a deadbolt lock on the front door and a chain on the kitchen exit door. Having a deep soak tub is a challenge at best, which is a reason we have not recommended our property for older people. It definitely is an issue.

Troy, MoLovely quiet getaway!
Left on 05/27/2012 for a stay in March 2012
This is a spacious comfortable country home with lovely pastural vistas. It's a little way off the beaten path which afford a wonderful quiet and peacefulness. Tauna, our host, was delightful and accomodating. It has large country kitchen and dining area. No problem with cell phone service or internet access for those necessary "modern" conveniences. Great place for a relaxing family getaway.

Thank you for your kind words - it was our pleasure having you and your daughter stay with us. Thank you, too, for the lovely handcrafted glass artwork which is displayed in the guest house for future guests to appreciate and enjoy! You are incredibly talented!

Tauna Powell has created a warm and comfortable retreat in NorthWest Missouri. She greeted us the afternoon we arrived and gave us a quick tour. She was available to help as we needed but for the most part we felt completely at home.
We stayed two weekends in November 2011 and plan to return.
Thank you Tauna for a wonderful stay.Response from Tauna Powell - 05/26/2012

Salem, MOThis is a wonderful visit into a time of history!
Left on 05/26/2012 for a stay in February 2012
This is such a delightful experience. The furniture and surroundings are turn of the century. There is even a real Edison light bulb and a footed tub! Yet, there are modern conveniences in technology as well and you can be on your laptop while looking out the window on a beautiful farm landscape. The owners couldn't be any better.

Purdin, MOFun family getaway in a spacious country house
Left on 05/20/2012 for a stay in January 2012
Powell's Country Guest House is a wonderful place for a family getaway. It was the perfect location for us, set back from traffic in the country, but with easy access to the highway. It could comfortably sleep all 4 of our kids in one bedroom, with my husband & I in the second. Having the full kitchen allowed us to eat breakfast in, saving us from the expense of eating out. The diningroom accommodated our family of six quite nicely, and the washer & dryer were a bonus. The kids enjoyed running in the yard, and watching cartoons on cable. They also have a good selection of movies. We were impressed that they had WiFi available, too, & good coffee! Tauna, the owner, was very friendly & accommodating.

Mexico, MOCozy, wonderfully decorated, and great amenities!
Left on 05/14/2012 for a stay in April 2012
My son and I stayed at the guest house and had a wonderful time. The house is in great condition, has a wonderful kitchen, dining room, and family room. Lots of great reading material - my son found a Calvin and Hobbes book that he loved. But most of all, it's just a great place to get away -- very quiet and peaceful.
We plan on going back with the rest of the family. -

Oldfield, MissouriRelaxed comfort with country charm!
Left on 05/07/2012 for a stay in December 2011
Our stay at Powell's Country Guest House was pleasant and relaxing from start to finish. The newly remodeled house retains charming character, and has all the conveniences of home. There are lovely pastoral views. It would make a great family get-away spot or enough seclusion for a nice adult retreat to unwind from hectic everyday life.
