Harley, OntarioTranquil Relaxation on Lookabout Bay
Left on 09/20/2011 for a stay in August 2011
If you are looking for tranquil beauty and relaxation for those few precious vacation days, then a stay at The Cedars at Mac's Shacks is the place for you and your family. This was our second stay at the Cedars and I'm sure it won't be the last. The cottage is decked out with everything you could possibly want or need and some other little luxuries that added that special little "something" to our stay. The Cedars cottage is warm and welcoming. Just cozy enough for our family of four. Our needs were met and exceeded by our hosts, the MacDonalds and their staff and we were made to feel completely welcome and at home. We've come to think of The Cedars as our little home away from home. Our children enjoyed all the activities and amenities that were available to them and loved getting to know the host's children.Kayaking, canoeing and paddling around Lookabout Bay, in the paddleboat, were some of our favorite things to do while at Mac's Shacks. Besides the clean, warm comfort provided in this little cottage, we especially enjoyed being able to use the screened in porch, on less than perfect days. If you are considering vacationing with a group of friends, I would definately consider renting the whole facility at Mac's Shacks. The main deck and dock area is perfect for large groups. In our two visits to Mac's Shacks and specifically our stay at The Cedars, we have yet to find anything to complain about. As far as our family is concerned, Mac's Shacks is the perfect vacation spot, and serves as a great "home base" to return to after a long day of Bruce Peninsula adventuring. We look forward to our next visit!!

Our experience was best described by my 16 year old daughter's reaction when we checked in...'well this is it Mom! I guess we're never going home! '
The perfect home away from home! A great escape, a beautiful setting to relax and regroup! -

We have stayed at many B&B;'s over the years. Some were good and some were not. Mac's Shacks and in particular "The Cedars" is by far the best vacation spot we have discovered. It's a top notch resort with access to everything the Bruce Peninsula has to offer. It's also peaceful and allows us to re-energize and reconnect. I higly recommend Mac Shacks!!!

We stayed at the Cedars cottage this Canada Day weekend - our first time away with our 2 month old - Mac's Shacks was an incredible place for our first family vacation !
From my first inquiry through the entire booking process I was thorougly impressed with the service I recieved from Karen - and I was thrilled that things only got better after we arrived !
The Cedars was a beautiful, comfortable and totally immaculate cottage - the screened in porch was perfect for us to relax in with the baby. I was so impressed with how well the kitchen was stocked and The linens and towels were in great shape - we brought our own just in case - but next time I won't bother. The large barbeques on the deck were more than big enough to share with the other cottages - and we did enjoy a dip in the hot tub aswell. Karen and her family were so nice and welcoming - we were very impressed with the whole experience.
Unfortunately we didnt get to explore the area a lot - except for some fishing from the paddle boat - but that only gives us an excuse to return.
I am so thrilled with our time at Mac's Shacks - I can't wait to come back ! -

Friendly and helpful hosts welcomed us to a wonderful and very well kept cottage for the family. It was my two daughters' first time away from home and it was perfect for us. We loved the great location by the lake, BBQ dinners on the deck, hot tub & camp fire (my daughters liked the bunk bed and hammock). Beautiful beach and awesome hiking nearby for great day trips. We will definitely come back and highly recommend Mac's shacks to others.

My wife and I rented one of the cabins here on the Easter weekend of 2010. We liked it so much that we invited some friends and went again in 2011. I can easily see this becoming a tradition for us. The "cabins" are absolutely beautiful and outfitted with everything you could possibly need (kitchen supplies, towels, linens, etc, all of high quality, owners cut no corners). The cabins are located right on the water, with a gorgeous view. And I can't say enough about the amazing hot tub on the deck looking over the water. If what you want is a relaxing time away, close to some of the best hiking in Ontario, then this is the place for you!

Our family truly enjoyed our stay at Mac's Shacks. We enjoyed many activities including canoeing, fishing, hiking, relaxing in the hot tub, kayaking, having campfires, and 'taking it easy' in the hammock. My 3 year old son caught his first fish from the dock which he was very proud of. We were pleasantly surprised the cottage was well stocked with all the comforts of home and more! Mac's Shacks is perfect for people seeking a quiet getaway. We will definitely be staying there again in the future.
