Cottage Profile This cottage is the winner of the 2007 Stratford and Area Builder's Association SAM AWARDS, "Most Outstanding New Home over 1,800 square feet." A truly one-of-a-kind cottage, this uniquely designed, three storey, 3200 square foot two plus bedroom is located at Cape Chin South on Georgian Bay. The original design of the cottage boasts many remarkable features including a view from the lower level all the way up to the third storey, a fully screened sunroom, and a view out over Georgian Bay that will take your breath away. The Arts and Crafts Movement Design throughout the cottage showcases handcrafted art and furniture rather t...han mass produced pieces. A variety of sitting areas create the feeling of a waterfront retreat with plenty of space for everyone in your party. In spring and fall the house is kept comfortable and warm with in floor heating. The first storey of the cottage boasts a double sided fireplace with a sitting area on either side. Large windows in each area provide a bright space, and there is plenty of seating ranging from couches, a seating alcove and a few comfortable chairs throughout the room as well. Also provided in this space is a dining table with seating for six, the ideal setting for a game of cards. There is also a two piece bathroom located on the ground level. Tucked into the second living area on the ground floor is a sleeping alcove with two single beds, a fun sleeping arrangement for the children in your party. Up on the second storey of the cottage is the main living area as well as the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and sunroom. It's difficult to pinpont what the focal point of the room is, as the antique gas fireplace, the multiple windows with pristine waterviews, and the tasteful decor are all visually appealing elements. The leather furniture provides comfortable seating in the common area of the cottage. The kitchen is outfitting with high end appliances and offers all the conveniences you could want, including fridge, gas kitchen stove, microwave and dishwasher. The ceramic tile flooring completes the look of this room. A four piece bathroom with both shower and tub is located on this level as well as a bedroom with a double bed. This room features a sunroom with screens on all windows for a little taste of the great outdoors right in your bedroom! Surrounded by trees, this private sunroom is the perfect place to relax and slowly wake up to another day of vacation. The third storey of the cottage finishes the interior off. The sitting room on this top floor is where the television is located. Equipped to entertain on a rainy day, enjoy satellite television and a DVD player on the LCD TV and high speed Internet hookup. The sitting area has two leather couches a gas fireplace and large windows with panoramic views. A set of French doors leads to a private balcony that overlooks the clear blue water of Georgian Bay. Enjoy the waterview and the wind off the bay during the day, and the star gazing at night from this private balcony. Another set of french doors, these ones finished in uniquely crafted stain glass, leads into the master bedroom. The King size bed and three piece ensuite bathroom with shower completes the luxurious atmosphere of the master suite, and the cottage itself. Nothing is overlooked at this cottage, and the landscaping is no exception. Outside of the cottage, you have your choice in seating areas. There is a covered patio with a table and four chairs, the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee. There is a stone patio with propane bbq, seating for an outdoor meal as well as a view of the water. A truly unique part of the landscaping is the all natural limestone area situated between the cottage and the water. This is a natural occurrence, not man-made, and is the top of the escarpment. A fence runs along the cliff's edge in order to make the outdoor area safer for children. A set of stairs leads from the cottage down to the waters of Georgian Bay. Part way down the escarpment is a small lakeside deck built into the rock escarpment for front row seating to the tranquility of Georgian Bay. The shoreline is a limestone rock, and there is a small sandy area which serves as the perfect place for children to play. Swim shoes are recommended. There is a gradual increase in depth though the water will get very deep. The cottage is located within walking distance from the Bruce Trail and Smokey Head Provincial Park. There are many attractions in the area. The cottage is located close to the Village of Lion's Head with it's many stores and shopping located a 20 minute drive away. There is a nice sand beach at Blacks Creek (Sandy Beach) Provincial Nature Reserve only 16 km away. Bruce Peninsula National Park and the historic Village of Tobermory is only 1/2 hour drive away. You will find hiking, boat tours, and lots of little shops in Tobermory.

  Loved being perched over the crystal waters of Georgian Bay. The house is impeccable with great furninishings and a high end kitchen. The hiking was also great with Bruce Trail access within a kilometre of the home.

  Our week stay was a relaxing one with a breath taking view of the water was just beautiful! We were only a 1 hour drive to The Famous Clear Waters of Sauble Beach. Evening fires on the rocky beach of the cottage, roasting marshmellows and watching the sky change colors before the sunset was our favorite pass time.

  We had a wonderful time at Cape Chin Escape and would love to stay there again. The setting is beautiful and the cottage is very special and well cared-for. We were sorry to leave.

  An "executive villa" in paradise.

  This cottage was truly a home away from home. We have never been so happy with a rental before. Sometimes cottage rentals feel old and/or grimy to us, but "Cape Chin Escape" was the exception to the rule. The cottage was immaculately clean and equipped with every high-end amenity a vacationer could possibly desire. The home itself is a piece of art and the mission-styled interior continued this motif throughout. The sunrises were glorious and the privacy was superb.

  My wife and I have been renting cottages for years from your services and have always been more than happy. But this property was heads above all others. It is a very beautiful property , which I have to complement the owners that give us time to spend in such a beautifull spot. The architecure of the home defies being refered to as a cottage and is simply magnificent. We spent hours looking onto Geogain Bay from many angles in the house and were mystified by its beauty, not to mention the creature comforts that came with this beautiful residense. I cannot express how happy we were here and the reponse we had from people that seen our pictures...This is a once in a lifetime experience that I would endorse to anybody that enjoys the finer things in life. We will return

  Beautifully perched atop the escarpment!

  Indeed, this was a breath-taking bit of architecture. Each level offered privacy to the occupants. The decorating was suberbly pleasing, every view fantastic. We enjoyed hiking right from the front door!
  The kitchen is located on the second floor, so be aware that it will take many steps to carry food up to prepare and down again to eat on the deck or dining room table.
