    Additional Location Information

Lipari is the largest of the Aeolian Islands, a volcanic archipelago in the tyrrhenian sea north of Sicily. In 2000 the Aeolian Islands were included in the UNESCO World Heritage list: they are one of Sicily's and Italy's most famous tourist sites. Every year thousands of tourists visit this archipelago for the clear and warm sea, for the natural landmarks, like the two active volcanoes of Vulcano and Stromboli, for the astonishing landscapes and for the delicious Sicilian specialties you can eat here.
The island of Lipari, thanks to its central position, is the best place to stay and to visit all the Aeolian Islands. Daily trips take you to Panarea and Stromboli and offer the chance to view the astonishing show of the night eruption of Stromboli. In one day you can visit Filicudi and Alicudi, the farthest and wildest islands of the archipelago. The near islands of Vulcano, with its submarine fumaroles transforming the sea in a thermal pool, or Salina, with its large natural park, can be reached by renting a small boat or accompanied by a local fisherman.
The best way to reach Lipari is to fly to the airport of Catania and either rent a car to reach the port of Milazzo (1 and 1/2 hour drive) and take the ship to Lipari or take a private bus to Milazzo and from here take the hydrofoil to Lipari, where you can easily rent a car or scooter. We are at your disposal to help you organize both the travel from your place of residence and the activities during your stay.

Best place for your aeolian holidays

Left on 07/09/2012 for a stay in September 2009

The experience had at this villa and in general at the aeolian islands was simply marvelous. Owners are very friendly, in perfect Sicilian style. The villa felt like home (actually better than home!), was comfortable, in perfect conditions, fully equipped and spacious enough to accommodate 5 of us plus a little kid. It is also conveniently located away from the crowd, for total relaxation. The view overlooking the bay is truly breathtaking. Really great value for money, much more cost-effective than any hotel in that area. Perfect for a romantic or family get-away and as a "base" for exploring the stunning "Windy Islands". Looking forward to returning.

Home from home - far from home

Left on 07/09/2012 for a stay in August 2010

We had an amazing two week stay stay at this villa. You will need a car owing to it position on the hillside, but it is worth the effort for the stunning views across the bay form the huge terrace, so huge in fact that you could almost spend your entire stay on it! The villa is well equipped with everything you'd need if you did want to cater for yourself, but with so many good restaurants on the island you probably wouldn't bother. The beaches are good, but we got the impression that many of the visitors were there to learn about the history of the place and not just soak up the sun. Lipari is not your average tourist destination, it requires a little effort to get there, but you will be well rewarded if your idea of a perfect holiday is one spent away from the crowds on a beautiful historic island with friendly people and good eateries - then give it a try.
