      All as advertised

Left on 05/05/2013 for a stay in April 2013

We very much enjoyed our week long stay in Lisboa. Austin was extremely accommodating and especially helpful with taxis. The apartment had an outstanding view of the plaza, was located close to all modes of transportation, and convenient to groceries and restaurants. While we enjoyed walking most everywhere, those not up to walking especially up/down steep hills might look elsewhere.
We especially liked the kitchen as it was well equipped. The dish washer and washer/dryer was also very useful amenity.
In all, we'd say that the apartment and management service exceeded our highest expectation. We would definitely stay there again and would have no hesitation recommending it to friends.

      Wonderful weekend in Lisbon

Left on 12/25/2012 for a stay in October 2012

I spent a weekend at Casa Santana in Lisbon which was not really long enough but with good organization and determination it's amazing how much you can see. I was met by Jordan at the apartment who was charming, warm and welcoming and he gave me a tour of the apartment before giving me a quick guided tour of the neighbourhood including historical facts, interesting places, practical information and places to eat. The apartment was very nicely fitted out and comfortable and Jordan and Deb have gone to great lengths to include everything you might possibly need. There was a complimentary bottle of local wine, cheese, fruit as well as simple thoughful things that you would never carry with you, but might be very handy whilst travelling like umbrallas, travel adaptors, plastic carrier bags, aluminium foil, laptop with wifi etc. It really was like a home away from home. The highlight though was the magnificent views overlooking the main square (Rossio) and beyond down to the sea in the distance. The apartment is right in the very heart of the old town so perfect for exploring the city. Rossio train station was only a 2 minute walk away where you can catch the train to the beautiful town of Sintra. Sintra is only 45 minutes away and boasts the Moorish castle perched on the top of the hillside and Palace Of Pena sitting atop the adjacent hill like a fairytale castle. There is also the National Palace and the amazing Quinta de Regaleira with stunning gardens, grottos, fountains and other surprises. Lisbon is a fascinating to place to visit and I would highly recommend staying at Casa Santana where you will be welcomed like family by Jordan and Deb.

perfect location, perfect hospitality--your Lisbon home away fro

Left on 10/27/2012 for a stay in October 2012

I spent a wonderful week in this apartment and I really felt part of a secret, special part of Lisbon. The warm welcome from Jordan and a personalised tour of the local neighbourhood was an excellent start, as was meeting Deb later and hearing her stories about the other towns I would visit on my Portugal trip. The apartment has everything anyone could possibly want (the laptop is so handy as is the washing machine for a lengthy stay) and Deb and Jordan really put themselves out to make sure your visit in Lisbon is everything you want it to be and more. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this accommodation, only fond and wistful memories. I really hope to return. I would recommend it to solo travellers who want to see the ´real´ Lisbon community yet still feel close to the tourist sights and it would also be great for families who want to self-cater. Just be prepared to climb lots of stairs (you´ll need them to counteract all the pastry eating). You cannot find a better located apartment or a better view or hosts who are so thoughtful.

A home from home in the centre of Lisbon

Left on 10/02/2012 for a stay in September 2012

My partner and I stayed at Casa Santana for 4 nights in September 2012. We were so glad we chose this apartment instead of a hotel or B&B.; The location was perfect with all the benefits of a residential area (quiet, cheap food) and brilliant accessibility to the sights of central Lisbon and the accommodation was superbly comfortable: Deb and Jordan have thought of everything - a welcome basket of coffee, fruit, cheese, bread and wine, plenty of towels, a hairdryer, even washing liquid for the washing machine, as well as fully appointed kitchen and comfortable furniture. We loved the view over the city from the living room and the way that the apartment catches the breeze. Jordan gave us a great quick tour of the area on arrival and each night we dined out on a different one of his recommendations - whether a simple neighbourhood eaterie or a romantic meal out under the stars, all were excellent.

      The perfect Lisbon experience

Left on 08/29/2012 for a stay in August 2012

If you visit Lisbon and want to stay in the perfect location, you must stay in Casa Santana. The experience was wonderful. The apartment is clean and comfortable and we felt safe walking home even at midnight. The views are incredible and I was able to watch a Saturday night concert in the square below from the living room window while my jet-lagged family slept. Deb and Jordan have anticipated all guest needs--multiple fluffy towels, welcome goodies, a list of local restaurants (Everest is delicious!), tour and recreation recommendations, kids toys, and air conditioning! There are also local shops nearby if you also wish to use the well-appointed kitchen. Our visit included a quick orientation walking tour of the local area that pointed out tourist spots, restaurants and transportation that allowed us to wander the city with confidence. We even spent a wonderful afternoon at a local beach with their recommended surfing instructor! This was our first experience using a vacation apartment instead of a hotel and it has set a very high standard. We will definitely return to Lisbon and Casa Santana.

      Outstanding stay at Casa Santana

Left on 07/16/2012 for a stay in June 2012

My husband and I recently spent five wonderful days in Casa Santana, Jordan and Deb's delightful apartment overlooking the Rossio in Lisbon. Not only was the apartment immaculate, its location was the best in Lisbon -- steps from Metro, train, bus and trolley stops, in the middle of the bustle of the most charming part of the City, and walkable to scores of shops, restaurants and historic neighborhoods. Every detail of our stay had been anticipated, from the large notebook of walking tours and tourist brochures and information (which we used daily), Fado on the CD player, and piri-piri sauce in the fridge. Jordan, thank you for your introductory tour of the neighborhood, pointing out favorite eating spots and markets! Arriving in a new country after an overnight flight across the atlantic isn't getting any easier with age, but thanks to Jordan and Deb and Casa Santana, the transition was easy, relaxed and allowed us to explore the excitement of Lisbon without any anxiety at all! This clean, modern and well-equipped apartment in a historic building with beautiful views overlooking Rossio was the highlight of our trip to Portugal.

Beautiful apartment to base Lisbon adventures from!

Left on 07/10/2012 for a stay in June 2012

Casa Santana was perfect - from it's amazing location (right in the middle of all of the action, whilst being in a quiet neighbourhood), stunning views (especially at sunset with the house martin swooping around!), comfy beds, and fully equipped kitchen (plus the lovely welcome food left for us - the Vino Verde set the tone for the rest of the holiday!). However what really set apart Casa Santana from other holiday lets was the amount of support and information provided by Jordon and Deb. The initial walking tour of the local neighbourhood was great (very insightful and really nice to have a few local restaurant recommendations etc when you arrive - makes for a very relaxing stay!) plus the organisation of other tours. Jordon organised a day of surfing and paddle boarding for us, which was excellant - very highly recommended! All in all they just made the stay very stress-free and relaxed! Add that on to the amazing apartment and it's a winning combination!

      Everything you need

Left on 06/26/2012 for a stay in June 2012

Stayed for four nights in June at Casa Santana. The apartment is centrally located, characterful, comfortable, spotlessly clean and with great views over the city. What really made our stay though was the thought that the owners had put into making sure that their guests had everything that they could possibly need in a holiday apartment. Jordan and Deb Kleber had clearly tried to make sure that all needs were catered for, down to a cool box for use if you wanted to head for the beach and use of a mobile phone for local calls, or to contact them if anything was needed. We were sent an excellent pre-arrival pack detailing just how to get to the apartment and covering the local area. We met the very friendly Jordan at the apartment on arrival, and he helpfully gave us a short tour of the immediate area, which included lots of local tips on getting round, what to see and do and where to eat. The apartment had plenty of guidebooks, free use of a laptop / internet access and also lots of kids games and books - very useful for our seven year old. It's clear that the owners actually care about your welfare and happiness during your stay. We've travelled round quite a bit and have rarely felt so immediately comfortable or so welcome in a hotel or apartment. Great place.

Home is where the heart is, and in Lisbon our hearts are at Casa

Left on 06/03/2012 for a stay in May 2012

On our flight home from Lisbon, we read the NY Times Travel Section feature on Lisbon, and we recognized everything highlighted in that excellent piece: the 2nd-floor vistas from Casa Santana overlooking the central Rossio plaza, the fabulous food, and the wonderful people of Portugal.

The hospitality of the Jordan and Deb Kleber and the modern amenities of their Casa Santana enhanced our visit immeasurably. Large, airy, beautifully appointed; vina verde and local cheese in the frig! Laptop, cell phone, washer/dryer/iron...all right there in the apartment!

And you won't find the local eateries written up in any travel book, but don't fail to go...Jordan & Deb will point the way to the inexpensive, delicious, delightful Portuguese and Brazilian cuisine steps away from Casa Santana! We anticipated good things when we saw local workers filling the tables after their shifts, but our expectations were exceeded after our first dinner, so we went back twice before leaving Lisbon!

Casa Santana was our home base for a magical week-long drive up to Porto and then further north to Santiago de Compostela. Jordan and Deb recommended the local Lisbon Car Rental agency, Cael, and the VW Polo we rented was great, as was the service provided by Cael.

This was our second stay with the Klebers in 8 years; we've sent friends there who have raved about them and their rentals.

We don't plan on waiting another 8 years before returning to our Lisbon home away from home:)

      Great apartment and excellent service

Left on 12/01/2011 for a stay in October 2011

The service given by Jordan was fantastic. He met us in the street when our taxi arrived, and afterwards gave us a guided tour of the neighborhood. In the apartment there was a welcome package with wine, cheese, juice, and fruit. On the morning we left Jordan was there and ordered a taxi for us. We really felt welcome the whole time.

The apartment was simply great for our use, me and my parents. It's very centrally located, has a great view over the Rossio square, and one can even see the castle and the river. The apartment is very clean and nice, is very well equipped, and has everything you need if you want do to your own cooking. There even was a PC with a wireless connection, guide books etc. My parents had a spacious bed room, and I slept in a sofa bed that had a very good mattress.

Even though it's very centrally located, the neighborhood is very quiet, and we were never disturbed by outside noise.

      I highly recommend this apartment!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa Santana. The apartment was of a good size with fantastic views over Lisbon. The location was excellent being just a short walk up from the Rossio. The equipment provided was excellent. Deb and Jordan had thought of everything! Prior to arrival Deb had sent information including a map, instructions on how to get to the apartment and recommedations for restaurants near the apartment. On arrival Jordan gave us a tour of the immediate area and pointed out various points of interest. There was also a basket of goodies, including fruit, cheese and wine to welcome us.

Great place to stay for a couple. Superb central location - although you do need to be fit for all of Lisbon's hills - and they have thought of everyting you might need in the apartment . Jordan provides a very helpful orientation when you get there. We took the aerobus 91 from the airport, which stops in Rossio Square, just a couple of minutes walk away but take a taxi if you have heavy bags and are unfit, as the walk is uphill!

My wife and I enjoyed a fantastic stay at Casa Santana. The location was great and allowed us to easily spend our days out in busy Lisbon without a lot of hassle getting around and then still slip away to peace and quiet when we were ready to crash for the night. The tour we got from Jordan upon our arrival really helped us to feel at home in the area right away. He made it easy for us to find and try some great local restaurants and avoid local tourist traps. He also gave us great advice on the best ways to get around the city. The apartment was clean and comfortable with all of the little extras that one would expect - it was traveling while still being able to come home at the end of each day. We simply can't say enough good things about our stay here and we hope to return on future trips.

We could not have had a better welcome to Lisbon! Casa Santana is truly a home-away-from-home. It is warm, welcoming, and outfitted with everything a traveler might need. We even found a needle and thread in the kitchen drawer for a quick repair. The apartment is in a perfect location, within walking distance to Rossio Square and all of the old neighborhoods of Lisbon. Jordan gave us a super orientation to the neighborhood upon arrival so we knew where to shop, eat, and find transportation. The view from the living room is spectacular. It was a special treat to wake up and look out over the red tile roof tops across Rossio and the old cathedral toward the Tejo. We give this apartment and Jordan and Deb's hospitality our highest endorsement. We can't wait to return some day!

      Delightful Stay in Lisbon!

Left on 08/30/2011 for a stay in August 2011

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at this delightful apartment in the heart of Old Lisbon. The location couldn't have been better. Within minutes, we were walking in the beautiful old streets and plazas, with their interesting museums and delightful cafe scene. In spite of the proximity, however, we weren't kept awake by sounds of the exuberant night life of the city, due to the apartment's ideal location in a quiet picturesque little neighborhood. We loved Lisbon, but most of all will remember the extraordinary lengths to which Deb and Jordan went to make sure our stay was enjoyable. Not only were we welcomed by a refrigerator stocked with local cheese, orange juice, fruit and fresh rolls, but Deb insisted on taking us to the emergency room and making sure we were taken care of when an unanticipated need for attention came up. We've been traveling in Europe for 6 months, staying in apartments all the while, and have never enjoyed such extraordinary hospitality. We highly recommend this darling apartment and its incredible hosts!

We felt comfortable and safe as we wandered round Lisbon, including evening strolls in our neighbourhood.

Was giving precise instructions as to how to get there by taxi as is hard to find (luckily taxi driver was familar wiht the area) and was pleantly surprised to be met at the place the taxi stopped by Jordan. Apartment very well designed and in a residential area where neighbours sat outside of a night eating. Lovely view of the Rossi Square from the apartemnt and where given an inital guided tour of the immediate area by Jordan, which was very helpful - along with suggestions for dining out. All in all a very plesant stay in this home away from home.

The absolute Best Place to Stay in Lisbon

Left on 06/10/2011 for a stay in May 2011

My husband and I are avid travelers, and have stayed in many places throughout Europe, Asia, South america, etc. However, the Casa Santana is by far our favorite. Great value; absolutely spotless; great and spacious set up with kitchen and bedroom, which was perfect for travel with a 14 month old; gorgeous views; perfect location in a real neighborhood, but just a few steps from the major tourist sights; and best of all, the most amazing hosts! Deb and Jordan were extremely helpful in helping us plan our stay both before and after our arrival, had fabulous restaurant recommendations, took us on a little walking tour upon check-in, and even negotiated our taxi fare for us! Be sure to use their map of the top 5 gelatarias in Lisbon. We managed to hit all 5!

I can honestly say I've never stayed in a place with such charming hosts / management. They were also very accomodating at the end of our trip when we had some significant flight delays, and even mailed us my husband's belt, which he left behind.

Very charming neighborhood too. We loved that we felt like we were living in the city, and not just visiting some soulless chain hotel. Our 14 month old daughter even had her first kiss right outside our front door... with a very handsome 18 month old Portuguese neighbor! I can't imagine a more perfect stay!!!

They really have tried to anticipate every need and we were so happy there. We will always remember the view from the apartment across the rooftops, Rossio, and river Tejo. Truth be told we pulled a chair up to the window and who knows how many happy hours we had just taking in the scene. To have that view one must walk uphill. Although Bob sometimes complained he was happy about the 5 pound weight loss! We walked a lot, were outside most of every day (something that we couldn't do at home that time of year), and felt happy and healthy.

We loved Lisbon and each morning with guide book in hand (they have a nice collection) would ponder the day's activity while lounging in bed having a first cup of coffee. Next, down to the bakery for a breakfast treat and bica and off on our adventures. There is so much to do in and around Lisbon that you will never be bored. Do go to the Mercado da Ribeira for fresh meat, seafood, produce and flowers then back to your wonderful kitchen, use their cookbooks and make some memorable meals. When you're not in the mood to cook do use their restaurant recommendations.

It was hard to say goodbye to Lisbon and the Klebers and to leave the apartment and view. We will always remember this time. If you go, please give our regards to your neighbor, Phillippe.

A home from home in Lisbon

Left on 03/06/2011 for a stay in March 2011

We travelled to Lisbon to celebrate my birthday. Normally when we travel abroad we stay in a hotel, but this year, we decided to stay in an apartment which we thought would give us a bit more flexibility. We scoured the reviews on tripadvisor and found Casa Santana, which luckily was available on the dates we wanted.
Before we arrived Deb sent us information about the area, and details of how to get from the airport to the apartment. When we arrived at the apartment Deb was there to welcome us and after a quick tour of the apartment she took us on a short walking tour of the area pointing out nice places to eat and get shopping and so on, having told us how we could get hold of her or Jordan in an emergency we were then left to our own devices.
The apartment was great, just what we wanted. The views were fantastic, the bed was sooo comfortable, we had all the equipment that we could need or want including a washing machine (which we didn't use) and a dishwasher (which we did). The shower was great and there is a bath which is lovely to soak in after a hard days strolling. The apartment and everything in it was spotless. Deb and Jordan had left wine cheese bread and fruit which we were most grateful for. Overall we felt very comfortable and safe in our home from home in Lisbon, and would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Casa Santana to our friends and family.

      Beautiful apartment, Breathtaking Views

Left on 01/09/2011 for a stay in December 2010

My daughter, age 25, and I stayed for Christmas week in Casa Santana. The entire experience was outstanding. The apartment itself was spotlessly clean, extremely well appointed, with great beds--I slept like I haven't in years! The location couldn't have been better. We were "up the hill" from "restaurant row" and within blocks of wonderful tiny restaurants in our neighborhood. All mass transport, trams, Metro and buses, were literally a block or two away. And because of the location in "Old Lisbon", much of where we wanted to explore was within walking distance.

Deb and Jordan provided excellent service and advice from the moment we booked until our 5 am departure on the 31st (sorry to Jordan who didn't seem to mind one bit!). Deb gave us an orientation tour of the neighborhood including restaurants and grocery stores and listed many excellent, inexpensive close by restaurants. After one or two disappointments in meals that we got from "Serious Eats", we returned to Deb's recommendations which were unfalilingly great from tiny Brazilian, to Nepalese, to the best roast chicken ever, to an unbelievable "black pork" dinner.

I have rented many vacation apartments, both in us and Europe, and I would have to say that this was the best experience to date. The only caveat is that the apt is on the second floor and the hills are steep--so anyone with mobility issues may want to find other accomodations. However, Lisbon is a "vertical city", so anyone coming should be aware of that anyway. But, if you walk and climb the hills, you get to indulge, guilt free, in the fabulous pastries that are everywhere in Lisbon.

Great city, wonderful, warm people (both the Portuguese and the Klebers!), terrific apt, affordable and delicious food and wine, stupendous museums and monuments--what could be better?

      Perfect Honeymoon Stay

Left on 12/29/2010 for a stay in June 2010

My wife and I stayed in Casa Santana for our honeymoon, and we couldn't be happier with it! Jordan was waiting for us when we arrived from the airport, and took the time to show us around the neighborhood before handing over the keys. The basket of fruit, bread, cheese and wine they left was excellent! This place is right in the heart of Lisbon so you'll never run out of things to do. It's very close to restaurants (we recommend Cafe Buenos aires) and shopping. We would definitely recommend Casa Santana to anyone travelling to Lisbon. **Make sure to bring comfortable shoes since there are a lot of hills in Lisbon.

So nice we stayed there twice

Left on 12/20/2010 for a stay in August 2010

This past summer was our second stay in Lisbon booking with Deb and Jordan. The care they take to make you feel at home is what sets them above everyone else - it is like staying with family.

      1) Info package mailed to you weeks before your stay - maps and helpful hints on what to see and do in Lisbon.

      2) You are welcomed with a wonderful basket with little goodies. Believe us, it makes a world of difference when you can walk in and have something to eat after an overnight flight.

      3) They take the time to give you a walking tour of the area - Deb took us to a few of her favourite restaurants to eat - an insider's/local's knowledge on where to eat and what to do.

      4) The apartment has everything to keep a family of four occupied on those days when you need to rest for a bit.

      5) The owners/hosts are also very accessible - you can call or email them at any time and they are quick to help out with answers on just about anything.

This is what sets the owners apart for us and the main reason we stayed with them on our second trip back to Lisbon.

As for the apartment - what can you say?

      1) A number of wonderful restaurants and pastry shops to visit - with a very well stocked general store just up the street from the apartment, for those days you just want to eat in.

      2) a very efficient public transportation system is practically at your doorstep.

      3) the apartment is clean, well appointed and extremely well kept.

What we liked the best? Our hosts made our first trip to Lisbon - a trip we had been dreaming about for years - everything we had hoped and more. It was really like staying with family...to the point that our kids talk about staying with "Auntie Deb" - there is no higher complement we could give them.

      Top location - Fabulous views!

Left on 12/05/2010 for a stay in October 2010

My husband and I recently had a 5-night break at Casa Santana II. The apartment was absolutely lovely-spotlessley clean, very central-literally 2 minutes walk into Rossio square, and the views were fabulous! We were met by Deb who was very welcoming and took time out to give us a short (much appreciated) tour of the immediate neighbourhood. On our departure we were met by Jordan who was equally friendly and accomodating-he booked us a taxi and helped carry our luggage. We could not have picked a more central location and although we were in the thick of things, a short walk from the square and we were back in the quiet of our lovely apartment, with the fabulous views-we had the best of both worlds. The many tiny local restaurants around the neighbourhood were a delight-packed with locals and very inexpensive. A great find after trawling through loads of websites. Best things about the apartment: location, views, cleanliness, fresh coffee/coffee maker, lovely hosts and a very nice (chilled) bottle of wine in the fridge!

Casa Santana was a highlight of our wonderful trip in Portugal. The apartment, with it's amazing view of the central square, is the perfect home-away-from-home in Lisbon. Deb and Jordan have outfitted it with everything you could want or need -- a bottle of wine, fruit and cheese even awaited us when we arrived. Within minutes of arriving you wonder to yourself, "Who would ever stay in a hotel!?"

While the apartment is beautiful, clean, cozy, centrally located and fully equipped, the thing that really puts it over-the-edge and makes it fully deserve the five-star rating is the hospitality of Deb and Jordan. Deb met us in Lisbon, introduced us to the neighborhood, gave us a tour of the main square, and offered spot-on recommendations. Her warm welcome and limitless enthusiasm for her adopted city and country helped us to have the best possible time in Lisbon. Much thanks!

      Lovely appartment

Left on 07/13/2010 for a stay in June 2010

We had five nights in Casa Santana and loved it. It's in a really central position near the main square with fabulous views over Lisbon. The wonderful views are because it sits high up a hill over the square (as you can see from the publicity photos) so it's quite a climb up to it, but worth it.

The flat was well equipped and comfortable. My only very minor quibble would be that the sofa wasn't very comfortable to sit on, but that was because it was actually a sofa-bed so the flat could sleep four if necessary. There's lots to do so there's probably not much time to sit on the sofa anyway!

Deb and Jordan were very helpful and gave us a walking tour of the area pointing out good restaurants, shops etc. They also sent us excellent instructions to give to the taxi driver when we arrived at the airport and organised our taxi back.

It was a really nice break in a lovely flat. Lisbon is a beautiful city with some excellent eating places, which we found thanks to Deb.

      The apartment was very clean!

A wonderful, sunny weekend at Casa Santana

Left on 11/11/2009 for a stay in October 2009

Our first visit to Lisbon was perfectly orchestrated by Deb and Jordan - including the weather apparently! The apartment was everything claimed on their website - wonderful view over the Rossio and very well appointed. We were greeted by Deb who provided a tour of the immediate vicinity, highlighting recommended shops/restaurants, etc. Whether eating out or self-catering all our requirements were available within a five-minute walk of the apartment. There was even a health food shop next to the local supermarket. And for the more advanced shopper there is a very wide range of shops and stores - again within easy walking distance. With a taxi rank almost directly under the apartment window and the metro close by we were very happy that we didn't need to drive or attempt to park a car. The only cautionary note - do be aware that there is a short, but fairly steep, climb from the Rossio up to the apartment - this is identified on the website.
When we reluctantly departed for the airport Jordan was on hand to assist and arrange the taxi (including confirmation of the fare!). After returning to the UK we realised that we had left a wallet in the apartment. At no cost to us Deb returned it by registered post. A more helpful couple than Deb and Jordan would be difficult to find.

An ideal place from which to explore this fascinating city.

Left on 09/18/2009 for a stay in April 2009

This is a truly remarkable place to stay, for three very special reasons. (1) It is wonderfully central. Lisbon is a very walkable city (apart from the hills!) and literally within a couple of minutes stroll down the hill you are in the lively Rossio and Baixa, full of cafes, bars and restaurants. No need for taxis after a night out! (2) It is blissfully quiet. Tucked away in a tiny one-way street, you are in a peaceful residential area, well above the noise of the bustling city below. (3) The view from the sitting room is ?to die for?. Looking down to Rossio with the trees and large fountain playing in the middle of the square, to the side is the National Theatre, in the distance is the Elevador de Santa Justa and the evocative ruins of the Convento do Carmo and to the left the Baixa and the dominating Arco da Rua Augusta. It is quite mesmerising as the light changes at different times of day and in different weathers.

And on top of all that? the apartment is clean, bright and spacious. There is every type of ?mod con? you might require, including a lap-top where you can check out the weather forecast (as all Brits do!) and both Deb and Jordan are assiduous and thoughtful in the care of their clients? she sends you high-lighted directions for a taxi from the airport to the apartment in Portuguese for the driver? which is just brilliant. Special little personal touches like a chilled bottle of wine in the fridge on your arrival really make you feel cherished and ?at home?? which is perfect. We had a marvellous week in Lisbon and I can?t recommend Casa Santana highly enough as a terrific base from which to explore this vibrant and beautiful city.

We contacted Deb in March about visiting in June. Service in booking the
apartment was quick and easy. Deb was very clear about getting to the
property from the airport, which was wonderful, because it is in a quiet
neighborhood, and may have been difficult to find. When we arrived we were
greeted with a relaxed tour of the neighborhood, a bottle of wine, and some
fruit and cheese--just right, after a long flight. The apartment was beautiful,
with room to spare. The kitchen was complete, the bathroom clean and up to
date, the bedroom large. The view from the front room was more beautiful as
the day wore on--the square below was framed in 18th-century buildings,
with the evening shadows highlighting the charm of the city. Deb loves Lisbon
and told stories of the people we may meet, drawing us more intimately into
the the city she loves. We felt as though we were really part of that little piece
of the world. We honestly drew in a breath any time we looked out that

      Wonderful Lisbon Holiday Apartment

Left on 08/20/2009 for a stay in May 2009

If you are looking for an authentic Lisbon experience, this is the place for you! Deb and Jordan are absolutely the BEST hosts you could hope for. They take their roles as Lisbon ambassadors seriously and do whatever they can to ensure you have a memorable stay.

When you check in, Deb gives a walking tour of the neighborhood - a real Lisbon neighborhood, not at all touristy, pointing out the best restaurants, grocery stores, locations of ATMs, train station, etc. She goes over every aspect of the apartment - more on the apartment below - and its many amenities. She leaves you with a nice welcome basket with fruit, Vino Verde - Portugese green wine, local cheese, coffee and pastries. You're all set for a wine and cheese before hitting the streets for exploring Lisbon's many sites. Deb will also with prior notice purchase additional items at the grocery for you. Seriously, she and Jordan are great!

The neighborhood is truly residential. Lots of authentic charm, safe, reasonably quiet, and exceptionally centrally located for setting out to explore. The apartment is only a short 3 minute walk to the Rossio square, the train station for trips to Sintra, and "restaurant row".

The apartment is modern, very quaint and comfortable. It is on the 3rd floor - no elevator of a nicely renovated building. The pictures on Deb's website are accurate. The views are as shown. It has a good sized bedroom with a firm, comfortable bed -queen size, I believe. The bedroom also has a sitting area and a comfortable chair. The apartment is air conditioned although we did not need to use it in early May. The bathroom is modern, fairly large by European standards, has a tub/shower combination, good water pressure, endless hot water and was spotlessly clean as was the entire apartment. The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, washer/dryer, etc. Living room has a daybed, chair, tv with cable, books, bar stools at the kitchen counter.

In short - a nice place to stay!

A spectacular view of the city, centrally located (close to everything including the train station), all the amentities we Americans love. Experience begins with written instructions in Portuguese you give to taxi driver to make sure you arrive quickly at your destination, met by Deb (the owner), a quick tour of apartment which she has stocked with fresh ground coffee, fresh bread, butter ,cheese, fruit, and bottle of wine. Explains free access to laptop commuter with Skype and cell phone for local calls. Followed by the tour of the neighborhood highlighting local grocer, cafe, etc............folks, it doesn't get any better than this. Only downside is the steps to second floor apartment.........but that's how you get the fabulous VIEW. Not to worry about luggage. Jordan, Deb's husband easily and cheerfully gets it up and down for you. My daughter and I stayed at the Casa Santana, but they also have other properties available as well..............all can be viewed at..............VisitingPortugal.com...............beats every hotel in town at half the price...............check it out ===
