LondonWe Never Wanted To Leave
Left on 02/28/2013 for a stay in February 2013
We recently stayed at this apartment and our stay was fantastic. The apartment is located in a great position Lisbon, and many of the top attractions that you want to go and see are near by. The apartment itself has some spectacular views across Lisbon and attractions like St Georges Castle are a short stroll away. Make sure you check out the markets nearby on Saturdays. The famous 28 tourist tram is also a few minutes away to take you to many of the other major sites. (It might be a bit hilly if you are older but there is a handy lift to the city below near the apartment and the tram as well)
The apartment itself is great and very well cared for. The host Maria had a great bottle of local wine and some cheese awaiting us on our arrival. She was great in recommending how to get around and where to eat near by, which many hosts often don't help with, so a big thank you to her. Part of the service was arranging our airport pick up and drop off, and Tony who did this was also fantastic in pointing out things to see and do.
The apartment is well appointed with everything that two couple or a family would need and as my review suggests we really didn't want to leave. I highly recommend anyone to stay here and if I get a chance to stay in Lisbon again I will be staying here without question.

London, UKStunning apartment with stunning views
Left on 10/02/2012 for a stay in September 2012
Maria provided an excellent service - giving lots of local knowledge, arranging for airport transfers, resolving problems quickly, providing a few bits of food and drink on our arrival as we had a late flight and was very friendly and helpful.
The apartment is beautifully decorated, immaculately clean and has all the facilities you would need. There is air con in the main room, and lots of lovely windows with wonderful views that create a great breeze through the apartment. It was also very quiet.
The location is brilliant - very near the castle in the old town and with the same views as you get from there. It is a short walk down to the main town. There is a local shop, supermarket and restaurant/bar overlooking the city nearby.
What I liked best - relaxing in the apartment and having breakfasts on the balcony in the sun. What I liked least - the 4 flights of stairs! (but worth it for the views!)

We stayed 2 people 10 nights in the flat, and everything was above expectations. It was light, clean and in very good condition. The location on the mountainside have a wonderfull view of Lisbon. The service from owner Maria and antonio who picked us up at the airport was just perfect.
Hope this flat is available next time we go to Lisbon.

We had a truly beautiful holiday, made all the more special in this wonderful apartment. We received a very warm welcome from antonio & Maria (the wine, cheese and bread on our arrival were greatly recieved) who offered lots of invaluable information and advice on how to make the most of our stay. With what must surely be the best views of Lisbon, the stylish open plan modern apartment set in the shadow of the glorious heights of the Castelo de Sao Jorge was a perfect base for our holiday. Having a supermarket and also many wonderful restaurants & cafes all in walkable distances of the apartment, Lisbon is surprisingly small, with most of its sights easily reachable on the very good public transport. Incredible beaches also a short trek away, even with young children in tow, Lisbon has something to offer everyone. We cannot recommend this apartment or city enough.

The apartment was spotlessly clean and well equipped in an excellent location with amazing views over Lisbon. Maria and antonio were very welcoming and gave us lots of useful tips on places to visit and how to get around the city. Would definitely recommend staying here if you visit Lisbon.

Left on 07/09/2012 for a stay in June 2012
We stayed in this Lisbon apartment in June 2012 for a week and it was fantastic. The location and views are amazing, situated just below the castle. Two large bedrooms with plenty of storage, air conditioned in the main living area, big kitchen with everything you need, a nice little courtyard area for two of the kitchen perfect for your outdoor morning breakfast, big screen tv, wifi, welcome wine/cheese/bread and just to top it all off, airport/train transfer services on your arrival and departure. Maria and antonio are great hosts and provide you with all the information you need from maps, dinner recommendations, bars and sights. We will definitely be staying here again on our return to Lisbon. Highly recommended, you will not be disappointed.

186534Very stylish apartment in impossible to beat location
Left on 05/22/2012 for a stay in April 2012
We had a wonderful break in this stylish apartment! It's location is great, beside the castle looking down to the city below. There are a lot of amazing vantage points in Lisbon and the views from this flat are as good as any. On a more practical level, it is in the same building as a coffee shop and grocery store for basics and a 5/10 minute walk from a very decent supermarket.
The apartment itself is super stylish and very well equipped. There is an outside space off the kitchen for al fresco eating and enjoying the sun. Probably not an option for the infirm given the steep stairs and the hillside location, but otherwise I can't imagine anything better.
We visited Lisbon with a teen and a toddler, possibly not the ideal city break party, but Lisbon delighted us all, and was very easy to negotiate. -

MelbourneBeautiful light filled apartment in the centre of everything
Left on 03/30/2012 for a stay in March 2012
This lovely apartment is right in the centre of town behind the castle. Waking up in the morning all you hear is birds and the church bells ringing and yet it is a short walk to the heart of Lisbon. Maria was very easy to deal with, prompt in responding to email and had everything waiting for us when we arrived. She recommended good places to buy groceries and some lovely restaurants. We especially loved the wine and cheese she left for us as a welcoming gift.
The apartment is up 4 flights of stairs so I wouldn't recommend this for anyone with mobility issues. For anyone else, I would highly recommend this apartment. -

GlasgowGreat views, great location, great apartment
Left on 10/30/2011 for a stay in October 2011
This is a lovely, clean, comfortable, well-equipped and quiet apartment with great views from all the windows, and very well placed to explore Lisbon. Being driven to and from the airport by antonio, and being shown some of the sights and restaurants on the way, was a real bonus especially as we landed late in the evening. Antonio speaks excellent English and was very informative about the city.
When we arrived at the apartment, Maria was waiting for us to show us around and to give us more information to help us get the most out of our stay. She also speaks excellent English and seems to have thought of everything.
As other reviewers have noted, there are many stairs up to the apartment, so it wouldn't suit anyone with mobility problems. However the benefit you get from this is the great views, and also being on the top floor there is no-one above you to disturb your sleep. This is one of the quietest places we have stayed in and we slept very well.
The shop and cafe on the ground floor are very convenient for buying bread, water, etc but especially the delicious pastries, which they make themselves.
We found the taxis in Lisbon to be very cheap and easy to get, and used them to come home in the evenings, and never paid more than 5 euros. Maria gives you a printed address which you just have to show the driver, they all know the way.
All in all we had a great holiday in Lisbon and would recommend the apartment to anyone.

We stayed there for a week on a business trip to Lisbon. The transport to and from the airport was perfect and the very hospitable Maria met us at the apartment to explain everything. It is in a beautiful location with places to eat and drink very close by. We didn't do any cooking so I can't comment on using the kitchen but everything else worked fine and we had no issues. I'd consider going there for a vacation with my family at some point.

Left on 09/05/2011 for a stay in August 2011
I can say enough about our stay in Lisbon...we all loved it. The apartment I am sure only added to our experience. From the start Maria was so professional and made everything so easy, from the booking to the check in and all her follow up. The pick up from the airport by antonio was also a pleasure very personable and also professional, and it certainly took the stress out of finding our own way to the apartment, also to have him pick us up when we left was an added bonus. We have stayed in many apartments thru europe/america also in australia and this would have to be the nicest, cleanest and most well equiped, Maria had thought of every small detail. It made it a pleasure to come back after a day out to have a relax and get ready for the evening, or even stay in and cook. The views are amazing from the apartment. The position is great easy access to Chiado, Alfama and of course the beautiful Castelo which is just behind the apartment, the stairs take you right down to the main squares, and there is also the iconic trams that will bring you up to the area, yes there are many stairs but this just adds to the charm of Lisbon. The apartment does not have a lift, but we found the stairs and all the walking we did helped work off all the Portuguese tarts we consumed!! Given that the street has only local traffic it is very quiet area. Our family including our teenage daughters loved the apartment and we all highly recommend it for your stay in Lisboa! Muito Obrigado!

Walmer, Kent, UKSeeing Lisbon...!
Left on 08/16/2011 for a stay in July 2011
Literally - from this beautifully appointed modern apartment you can see most of Lisbon, without leaving the room! Perched up high, under the castle the views are superb. The other hills of the city may seen from this high point, and the floodlit views at night are spectacular too. Being situated in a narrow street with controlled traffic makes this apartment quiet, at the same time as being central to the best of the city by the trundling trams and the buses. Many of the best restaurants we tried are within walking distance. The owner is efficient and accomodating to the visitors needs. In Lisbon there is no need for a car, and, in this district at least leave the high heels at home, due to the charming but cobbled streets. We enjoyed our stay here immensely.

Left on 08/15/2011 for a stay in May 2011
The apartment was exactly as pictured - and actually better in person. The views were spectacular and helped us get our bearings in hilly Lisbon. We also appreciated the free airport pick-up, especially since our flight from Barcelona was delayed 3 hours. Maria was very kind - even when meeting us at 11:00pm when we arrived.
As expected, there were a lot of stairs both in the building and in the neighborhood. Reaching the apartment on foot required near-mountain goat skills managing all of the steps and hills. Because of this we took a taxi up the hill when coming home. This was not a big deal, except that once you had done that and then climbed the stairs to the apartment you really didn't feel like leaving becase you would have to do it all over again.
If you like amazing views - and the work required to enjoy them, then you will be very comfortable in this apartment. -

We enjoyed every minute of our stay in Lisbon...even climbing the stairs up to this forth floor apartment near the St. Jorge Castle. The apartment is clean and modern, and has spectacular views of the surrounding city. Maria was very helpful and even provided a pick up at the airport! Easy walk down the hill to Baixa-Chiado and the surrounding alfama area of Lisbon. Some nice small neighborhood restaurants nearby but we also cooked meals in the efficient kitchen.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying here. The apartment was clean and comfortable and well equipped. Upon arrival, we immediately took a picture of the view out each window. The little extras made our stay even better, especially the transfers (including a detour for a child's missing toy) and the chilled wine in the fridge. Despite the many stairs, they did not deter us from running down to the cafe first thing in the morning to pick up freshly baked treats.

Left on 06/02/2011 for a stay in May 2011
My wife and I just spent a lovely week in Lisbon and had the good fortune of discovering this wonderful apartment. The views of the city are simply spectacular. The apartment has been beautifully updated, the kitchen has everything you need and we loved the neighborhood. Nice little grocery and pastry shop just outside the door, 10 minute walk to the middle of downtown and a spectacular castle right above you. Wow. One warning: Lots of stairs. This is an older building, which gives it so much of its charm, so there is no elevator. And being on the side of a hill below the castle, there are lots of stairs as you work your way up and down to the main plazas. We didn't mind it at all, in fact the stairs helped to work off the calories from all the spectacular pastries we kept feeding ourselves. If your mobility is limited, this may be a problem. The owner, Maria, is charming, very organized and extremely helpful. My wife and I would stay in this apartment again in a heart beat.

FolkestoneGreat apartment in a great location
Left on 09/11/2010 for a stay in August 2010
This apartment was wonderful! The views more than compensated for the climb up four flights of stairs, but the apartment would not suit the less-mobile. However, we knew about the climb and were prepared for it. Indeed, it may have been the added exercise that kept us from piling-on the pounds from the lovely local food.
As well as being well-appointed and spotlessly clean, the elevated location is in a road with restricted vehicular access, so it is quiet. The nearby residence of a government minister also means that there is a police presence in the road much of the time, so the area has a very safe and secure feel.
The location would not be great for someone wanting to either bring or hire a car since I imagine that parking would be very difficult. However the proximity to the 28E & 12E tram routes means that there is no need to have a car and public transport in Lisboa is very good. Not having to drive at all was one of the many enjoyable aspects of our stay.
The excellent WiFi in the apartment was very popular with a 12yr old armed with his laptop.
The inclusive airport transfers made the whole exercise very simple and Maria is charming, helpful and business-like. -

We spent a week in this charming apartment in a lovely part of town, overlooking the whole city. The apartment is tastefully decorated and well equipped. Maria, the owner was very helpful and accommodating.
You are in the heart of town, near to all the important landmarks but be prepared to do a lot of walking on the hilly streets of central Lisbon. We were a party of 4 adults and found all the amenities and comforts that we needed. I would recommend this to all young couples interested in discovering the charm of Lisbon

Our family stayed at this lovely and very tidy vacation home for one week in June/July 2010. The top-floor apartment gives a breathtakingly beautiful view of Lisbon and is situated in a peaceful area on the top of the hill. (This means a lot of climbing, too.) Maria Cesar is most helpful and made us feel so welcome, together with antonio who picked us up from the airport. We felt like being at home.

The views from all the apartment windows and balcony are amazing. You are up among the birds buzzing across the sky.

Left on 05/13/2010 for a stay in April 2010
I can't recommend this apartment and its owner Maria Cesar highly enough. The place offers such good views out over the beautiful city of Lisbon that even if it only came with a table, chair and camp bed I would have been happy enough but luckily for us it not only has the views out, the interior is modern, stylish, clean and very well equipped. It is very well located as well, right beneath the castle so you can get to all the main sites very easily, either by walking or catching the much talked about number 28 tram.
The free airport pick up and drop off is absolutely worth its weight in gold and took all the stress out of arriving and departing. The owner Maria meets you on arrival, with helpful but not over bearing information about the city and local area. The wine and cheese in the fridge on arrival was also very welcome and much appreciated.
It is located on the top floor of the building with no lift, so if managing stairs is a problem then it wouldn't be the apartment for you. But this is clearly stated by the owner in the advertisement, and believe me...when you get to the top, pour a glass of wine and look out over the terracotta rooftops of Lisbon the climb is well worth it. -

This is a beautiful flat in an amazing historic district of Lisbon with incredible views and wonderful features. We loved the convenience to the metro at Martin Muniz and the quick walk to shops and restaraunts in Alfama. The flat was clean and the beds are very comfortable. Having the convenience of Antonio driving us back and forth from the airport was perfect. The proximity to Castle of Saint George, Grace Church, the Se Cathedral was ideal. Day trips tp Evora, Fatima, Sintra and Mafra were easy (although get ready for stairs!). we traveled with our two daughters and they loved the apartment. THe only caution is that you need to be prepared to climb stairs (several flights) to get home. Perfecr for those who need or want exercise!! All in all, unless you hate stairs, you can't do any better that this wonderful home in Historic Lisbon. And the market and cafe on the first floor is very nice. Thank you Maria (owner) and thank you Lisbon for a wonderful time!!!

The service from Maria Cesar was fine. There was no problem in doing the contract. It was also nice to have a free Airport pickup. Maria Cesar gave us a lot of useful information when we arrived in the apartment. The location and especially the view were great. The apartment was very well equipped and modern. I liked the modern kitchen and the fireplace. It was very clean, which is important. The only thing Imissed was an elevator. The apartment is on the fourth floor and it was hard to take the stairs especially when you had to carry your suit-case.

Left on 11/08/2009 for a stay in October 2009
A wonderful apartment in the heart of Lisbon and is perfectly located to explore this beautiful city. The apartment offers enough space for 4 people - we were a party with three. The kitchen is fully equipped, so you can, if necessary, provide one yourself. Living room and adjoining dining room are very comfortable. For breakfast and in the evening hours, the small terrace offers a fantastic view to the castello and is perfect for relaxing - a great place. The view over the rooftops of Lisbon is simply breathtaking.
All major transport links can be reached quickly and easily - the Metro is located at the foot of the mountain, the famous line 28 stops just a few hundred yards away. A small grocery store is just downstairs - all the other shops within walking distance.
Maria offers the perfect pick-up service. Antonio was waiting at the airport and brought us to the apartment - back on departure then.

We, a party of 4, were welcomed by the owner at the airport of Lisbon and white wine and portuguese cheese at the apartment. That by itself was a great start for the holiday. If you don't fear climbing the Castelo hill (public transport is available) and the fleets of steps up to the apartment, this is the place to stay, as it offers the most amazing view over large parts of the city. The very central location of the apartment is very convenient and many of the city's attractions can be reached in a short time, either by walking or with public transportation. The apartment is refurbished and well decorated, equipment with all one needs for a holiday. You enjoy both the view over large parts of the old city or the well-kept backyards of the neighbors from the balcony.
We have spent a good number of holidays in apartments in various European cities. The Lisbon Castelo hill apartment deserves a gold medal and we warmly recommend it to anyone looking for a central, yet very quiet location. A warm thank you to the apartment owner for a personal and dedicated service! -
