I specially picked this neighborhood to live in, because it’s undergoing an interesting transformation - from heavy industry and naval related commerce and services to becoming “Lisbon’s Design District” – with shops, universities, studios and company’s connected to design and architecture moving in.
Another advantage is that you can walk to the busiest areas in town, but you’re in an area that is still not too touristic and feels truly Lisboan without being excessively “popular.”

Appartement lumineux propre et bien équipé. Très spacieux. Il manque juste le lave vaisselle.
Les literies sont de bonnes qualités. Le propriétaire habite dans le même immeuble.
Il est situé à 10 minutes de la bouche de métro. -

Had a wonderful stay in this apartment. It was bright, nicely furnished, very clean, in a good location, with a wonderful host - It was really nice to have Jose right across the hall - always available for suggestions and assistance. You couldn't ask for more. After a full day, it was worth walking up the stairs to this lovely apartment.
Lisbon was a great city to visit and the apartment was a much better alternative to

Jose sent precise details to this delightful apartment which proved to be very helpful. The apartment had been recently painted to remove scuff marks, an indication of the care and pride that Jose evidently takes.
Reaching the apartment you climb 62 steps which I found slightly daunting after a day spent walking and consuming some fine food and wine! It was however worth the effort, two bedrooms with fresh linen and comfortable double beds. A fitted kitchen with washing machine if needed. We didn't cook, but all utensils are there, including fridge freezer. The bathroom as the entire flat is immaculate.
The location was perfect,we ate at two restaurants Jose recommended and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, friendly staff and customers who made us welcome. We also used the metro and trains to move about and found the system inexpensive and easy to use.
When we come back to Lisbon I hope we are able to stay again and have recommended this fabulous apartment and Jose's hospitality to friends.

We did paint the whole apartment 3 weeks ago, and we try to keep it like that all year long.

This apartment was very clean and had all the necessities one would require. Jose Luis was incredibly nice and very helpful. He provided us with a map of where things are locacted with respect to the apartment and then took the time to answer all of our questions about the city and where to go. The apartment was within a 8-10 minute walk to the center of city. At night it was quiet and easy to just relax. My children had a wonderful time and loved coming back to the apartment where they could relax and watch some television. The only downside would be that sometimes the internet would go out, but that happens in any city.

This spacious and comfortable two bedroom apartment came with all the amenities as well as being very cozy and clean. The four sets of stairs to get to the apartment with luggage was a challenge, but Jose was there to carry your bags for you. Close to public transit, or a healthy brisk walk to shopping, groceries, and sight seeing. Very well located as a starting point to explore the sights of Lisbon.

Nous avons été très bien accueillis par le propriétraire très chaleureux, qui nous a donné de très bons conseils sur les visites, restaurants, transports etc qui s'offraient à nous.
L'appartement est très bien situé, proche du quartier des bars et des restaurants (il est néanmoins dans une rue assez calme)et à 10 min à pied de la gare (également station de métro).
Nous y avons séjourné 10 jours à 5 personnes et la taille de l'appartement et son agencement convenaient très bien. Le seul bémol est qu'il n'y a pas d'ascenceur.
Lisbonne est une ville charmante, pleine de lieux à découvrir, et il est aussi très intéressant de visiter un peu les alentours (notamment stations balnéaires où on peut aller en train). Pour cela la localisation de l'appartement est idéale car proche aussi du centre ville.
En conclusion on recommande cet appartement très agréable et lumineux et son sympathique propriétaire. -

We have just spent 3 nights in this fabulous apartment. The apartment is spacious, furnished in a very modern style and spotless. The kitchen was very well equipped, and the bedrooms and living area very bright and airy.
Jose was a fantastic host, providing us with lots of suggestions on what to see and do, where to eat and where to go out for drinks.
We would highly recommend this apartment, it is excellent value for money. -

This is as good as it gets as far and location if you decide to visit Lisbon. It was the first time for me and my partner, and we absolutely loved it!
The station for metro/suburban train/tram/ferry is within walking distance, as are many small cafes and dining establishments to start your day. I can't say enough about how much food is around...all very good too. The old town feel is not lost on this location. It was not unusual to be beckoned in by a shop owner to try the prato da dia (dish of the day). Look for this and you will be pleasantly surprised!
We stayed about 10 days without any hiccups...well, just one. On our arrival, our baggage was lost due to bad weather in the States. Jose, our host, absolutely shined and was very helpful in coordinating getting our bags by the next day. We used him as our emergency contact and he was able to speak to the courier about our luggage so we could explore the city and not wait at the apartment for our luggage.
We can't say enough about Jose Luiz and how friendly and warm he was to us. To say he was hospitable sounds dry...he really is a great guy. His personal touch is found all around the apartment, as he designed it himself. He also was a great guide from day one, giving us insight as to where to go and best times of day to visit some attractions, especially off the tourist beat.
The apartment came furnished with all we needed: internet access, washer, fully equipped kitchen (with coffeemaker, of course!), two bedrooms with queen beds, extra sofa bed, cable TV with English channels, fans heaters for comfort, lots of space!
All-in-all my partner and I agreed this was our best trip to date and we were very glad to do it with Home away again. I would highly recommend staying at this apartment...the price is very right, the host is great, and the location couldn't be better. Thanks again Jose!

I rented the flat in april 2012 with 3 friends of mine.
The Flat is just perfect, very cleaned, quiet, very spacous and with all commodities even towels were available !!!
It is centre-situated, 10 minutes walking from the center and all the facilities !!
José, the owner , welcomed us very warmly and gave us all the information to make our stay very confortable and he is always at your disposal for any question you may have during your stay .
I hardly recommend this accomodation !!! Do not hesitate !

I stayed here with 1 friend. Jose Luis welcomed us in a warm style and gave us all the info about town that we needed at that point. The flat is spacious, with 2 bedrooms, certainly since we stayed with just 2! It looked smart and had a comfortable sofa and nice details. Basically anything we needed was there. It is conveniently located just steps downhill from Barrio alto with the bars and an amazing look out terrace, and the central area (Prace do Comercio)is at about 15 min walking distance or a few stops on the tram. Plus it's close to a train station and a tram stop that leads you straight to Belem. The road can be noisy on a weekend night, but just close the windows and no problem. Jose Luis is a friendly dude that was very available for additional info.

The apartment was a great choice for us. We were a group of friends traveling together and the place was spacious enough for us and all our traveling gear. The two bedrooms have really comfortable beds (something rarely true in a lot of rentals) and giant windows filtering in lots of light and overlooking a typical Lisboan street with beautiful architecture. The windows open fully, and also tilt open a bit at the top, allowing for really effective climate control even on a hot day. The apartment has a great kitchen, actually pretty big as well, and really functional. We cooked a meal or two there, but mostly ate out because Lisbon has great food. Even the diner across the street was delicious and cheap. The living room has cable and wifi, though truthfully not much used since we were out exploring, and it was comfy and homey and nicely decorated. The location is great, too, a 10 or 15 minute walk to the subway as well as a commuter train line that takes you out to Cascais and other beaches. There are buses and trolleys that run right in front of the building, so transit is easy. The apartment is a quick walk up the hill to the Chiado/Baxia/Barrio alto areas with lots of restaurants, shops, bars, etc. Our host directed us to some really cool, hidden places that we wouldn't have found on our own. He also has a huge basket of maps, travel books, brochures, etc. on the area and gave us his own map with local resources, like grocers, banks, favorite restaurants, etc. The immediate neighborhood has some banks, small grocers, something akin to a us walgreens, pharmacia, restaurants, etc, but isn't a hugely bustling street. For me that was perfect because Lisboan nightlife is lively, so it's nice to have a quiet place to come home to, and the neighborhoods with more nightlife are so close by. Oh, and there's a washer in the unit, so we were able to launder mid-trip, which was really useful! All in all, a great place to stay that I'd highly recommend.

Lovely apartment in Lisboa. Very clean, well decorated and newly renovated. Excellent location to use as a site seeing base. The owner is obliging and has excellent English. Beds are very comfortable and the kitchen is well outfitted. As with all downtown apartments, we would recommend earplugs on weekends. We look forward to staying at the apartment the next time we are in Lisboa.

We arrived in Lisbon on Easter and didn't know much about it except from all the sites I googled earlier so I belived everything that Mr Jose Luis wrote about his apartment. And the apartment was really close to all the stations, to shops and to the old town. It was clean and Mr Jose did everything to make us feel good.
Eventhough they did some renovation work in the building we managed to get a good night sleep and they didn't interrupt our daily scheduled activities;)
I would recommend this property to a friend or a relative without thinking as well as my friends who were with me.
Thank you Mr Jose Luis and hope to see you when you come to Croatia. Then it will be my turn to inform you about everything you need to know!

We went to Lisbona with another couple of friends for a long weekend! The apartment is located in a perfect spot of Lisbona. It is very nicely furnished and has everything you need for a short or even a long stay (2 double bedrooms,wi fi, kitchen with everything you need to cook, clean bathroom, etc)and the price is really convenient.
The owner is very helpful, really kind and can give you all information and tips you need about Lisbona and the region.

We staid for ten days in Lisboa, and enjoyed the possibilties of the appartment, because it is placed directly in the centrum and you got a lot of nice restaurants and cafes in the surrounding for breakfast, lunch and dinner. On the other hand the appartment has a nice and modern kitchen, so we had the possibility to manage our breakfast and to cook the fish, we have bought at the daily market near buy.
Because we staid for ten days, we rent a car for trips along the coast and were really astoinished how easily we found parkig-places next to the appartment.

My sister and I just came back from a wonderful 10-day vacation in Portugal and Spain. We opted for an apartment in lieu of a hotel. I am glad we did! The people in Portugal were the nicest and the most genuinly friendly people I have ever met. Our host was definitely one of them. Our fantastic host, Jose Luis greeted us with open arms and heart. He helped us plan our trip, recommended places for us to eat, as well as simply chatting with us, making us truly feel at home. The apartment was super clean and tidy and contained everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The only draw back was that we came during a week of student's fraternity celebrations, which lasted all night long, on an otherwise quiet street, but this is not a usual occurance here. I highly recommend this apartment to anyone wanting to feel like they live amongst friends.

It was a pleasure receiving you as guests in my apartment. I am glad you enjoyed it as well as the city and people of Lisbon.
I am aware that during the week you stayed here, there were a couple of nights with student celebrations that made it somewhat noisy outside on the street (to say the least). Unfortunately I have no control regarding the parties that may occur outside. On the week it happened, I did however sent an e-mail to Lisbon's Municipal Police complaining formally about noise after 11pm (23:00h) on the restaurant that held those parties. I got a reply from them where they told me the place would be inspected and stay under surveillance to avoid these events to become regular occurrences. Untill now we haven't had a noisy night like that again.
Hopefully it will keep this way. I think however that this kind of occurrence is just one of the draw backs from being in the city center.

I have just returned from my second stay at this beautiful apartment in
Lisbon and i am sure that it wasn't my last one.
after visiting for the
first time last year at exactly the same time for only four days me and
my friend immediately decided that we wanted to go back - and this
decision was definitely also influenced by the fact that we had found
the perfect place to spend our time in Lisbon.
we stayed for nine days
this time.
the apartment is very clean,
central, beautifully equipped and gives you a slight idea of actually
living there. it is comfortable and makes you wanna stay longer (which
also does the city!).
i can highly recommend this place and i have
already given contact info to several friends and people who seemed
interested in going to Lisbon since this apartment is just the perfect
place to wake up in the morning, prepare your own coffee, explore the
mood of the day on the balcony and start the day before you leave to get
another coffee and breakfast. And most definitely after you spent all
day outside and just want to return to a comfy... well, home!
