    Additional Location Information

The apartment is located in the traditional Mouraria district, called the "birthplace of Fado". It is just 3 minutes from the central Martim Moniz square, where there is a convenient Metro station, several bus stops, and where the famous Number 28 Tram stops also. Just a little further, 5 minutes away, you can find the Rossio square, possibly Lisbon's most central area, where there is another convenient Underground station.

The Martim Moniz square is also home to the "Centro Comercial Martim Moniz" shopping centre, and there are plenty of shops, chemist's and supermarkets all within easy walking distance. The area is also home to many restaurants, bars and cafeterias.

The central squares of Rossio and Praça do Comercio are just 10-15 minutes walk from here, making this a great base for your stay.

From this apartment it is possible to walk to Lisbon Castle in just 11 minutes (800 metres distance) according to Google Maps.

NOTE: This is a 3rd floor apartment in an old traditional area of central Lisbon, where the buildings don't have lifts/elevators and is therefore not suitable for wheelchair users or guests with mobility problems.

Great location for Lisbon sightseeing, friendly and helpful welcome from Roger. There were four of us at the apartment which was a bit cosy but for a weekend away, it has everything you need including wifi and aC. Great value and would recommend to our friends.

Small but comfortable with central location

Left on 06/28/2011 for a stay in June 2011

The aparment itself was fairly small, but was perfectly comfortable for 2 to 3 people. Location was very central to all sights. It was great to meet Roger at the Mundial Hotel as the apartment would have been quite difficult to find! This apartment is on the third floor, so be ready for some exercise when you first arrive with your bags.

A perfect apartment in a charming city

Left on 05/23/2011 for a stay in May 2011

If you're planning to stay more than two days in Lisbon, this is the perfect place for a couple or even three persons.

Roger (the owner) is very proactive in the reservation process and will answer your questions. He was on time at the meeting point when we arrived in Lisbon and took time to come to the apartment with us.

Less than 5 min. walk from the central square of Lisbon, the apartment itself is perfectly situated. You're almost in the Alfama (again, less than 5 min walk in charming pedestrian streets) and maybe 10 to 15 min walk from the Bairo Alto. Metro station, convenience store and coffee shop are a few step from the door.

Full equiped, the living room and kitchen are confortable. Upstair is the very nice bedroom where the sleepers will find true happiness (large bed and VERY calm, not a noise).

In fact, probably one of the best bargain you can get in Lisbon for the price. Jump on that one.

      charming well equipped duplex

Left on 05/17/2011 for a stay in May 2011

      We enjoyed Lisabon!
Apartment is very nice and well equipped, with a beautiful view. Duplex has a very good location, near main streets, and metro station, but I didn't like the neighborhood.

Pristine apartment with real character in a great location

Left on 05/14/2011 for a stay in April 2011

I would recommend staying here to anyone other than those who are unable to climb too many steps, the plus side of the climb is of course the views one can enjoy from the living or sleeping areas. The apartment is in a building that has real character and has been tastefully modernised and is a short walk to all major attractions. Many thanks to Roger who could not have been more helpful when we first arrived!

      Duplex Mouraria apt

Left on 05/10/2011 for a stay in April 2011

The apartment was excellent and well equipped. The circular bed was good and the view from there was great. The location near the castle was excellent . We stayed there for a week and really enjoyed it. However, although it was not a problem for us, the 53 steps up to the apartment may be a problem for some, We would warn people very strongly about pickpockets when using the trams in Lisbon as we were victims twice. In spit e of that we very much enjoyed Lisbon and would highly reccommend Duplex Mouraria apartment. Thanks Roger.

      Lisbon - Early Spring

Left on 04/28/2011 for a stay in April 2011

Our stay at the apartment Duplex Mouraria in Lisbon (ten glorious nights in Portuguese springtime) was a very pleasant one. Roger met us at the nearby Hotel Mundial, and escorted us to the apartment, a couple of minutes walk away. He even carried our two heaviest bags! The apartment was well appointed, spacious, and full of light. Everything we needed (e.g. maps, guide books, soap, internet, TV, extra pillows, a second set of keys) was provided. And the appliances were great: there was always hot water, the fridge had a freezer (translation: ice cream and sherbet), and the high-speed washing machine (and the Lisbon sunshine) meant clean clothes for all of us. Thanks to the excellent stove, and the nearby supermarket (Pingo Doce on Rua Premeiro de Dezembro, just across Rossio Square), we were able to dine in, on those nights when we weren't enjoying Lisbon's fine restaurants.

The central location of the apartment made it possible for us to walk everywhere: from alfama to Bairro alto, and from Cais do Sodre to Parque Eduardo VII. We did take the historic tram 28 (a three-minute walk from the apartment) and the ultra-modern Lisbon metro (a five-minute walk from the apartment) a couple of times when we had appointments. For our day trips to Sintra, Belem, and Cascais, we took the inexpensive trains from the Rossio train station (a ten-minute walk from the apartment).

Our aim on this trip was to get to know as much about Lisbon as we could in just over a week. Thanks in no small part to this lovely apartment, we feel we have succeeded. We certainly recommend this apartment to others, and would definitely return for another visit.
