The apartment really is like the photos! It's not worn in at all. It's light and airy, the views are great as is the location - situated down a sleepy, quiet road. You don't have to travel too far to experience the nightlife in Barrio alto or a nearby square for food and drinks in a relaxed atmosphere. Mario is very welcoming and is on hand should you need any help. There is a taxi rank just around the corner which was handy. The only negative is the stairs (no lift) which is what a few previous reviews have stated too. They are steep so I wouldn't recommend the elderly or anyone with small children book here. It was quite a challenge carrying our luggage up and down - although Mario did carry one of our bags for us on arrival! I found the booking system very easy and Mario replied to any queries immediately.

I was afraid it was too good to be true - exceeded our expectations! Wonderful views and within 5 minutes (walking) to access most of what you want to do or see. The photographs on the website do not exaggerate. Lovely, spacious apartment with everything you need (plus Mario across the street, very courtly and generous with his time and help).
The one caveat is that it is on the 5th/American, 4th/European floor without an elevator, but our 12 year olds quickly adapted and were sprinting up the stairs after day 1 (and the views - plural - are worth it!!!Response from Fadoflats - 04/28/2013

We have recently returned from a month's stay in the fascinating and diverse city of Lisbon, after hours spent looking for a top quality short rental, we eventually discovered Mario's company Fadoflats.pt from then on it was plain sailing, the booking process was both professional and friendly and Mario was very quick at answering our questions and queries.As it was going to be a long stay in the winter we wanted to ' tick all the boxes'.
We loved the flat we chose, Chiado 3, it was right in the middle of the historical residential area, with lots of shops, bars and restaurants a short walk away.
The flat was extremely spacious and had everything we needed, including a high end kitchen, which made us feel really at home , a contemporary bathroom with good water pressure, and the most comfortable bed we've ever come across, ( one of those mattresses is now on my wish list !!).
We loved the views over the city from the dining room table, and hanging our washing out of the window Lisbon fashion was great fun.
Mario was always polite and helpful , never intrusive. We would definitely stay at Chiado 3 again, or try one of the other properties cared for by Mario and alberto. The only downside was the number of steps to our front door, but we soon became accomplished stair climbers and are probably a little fitter for it. Thanks for a great stay.

Deciding on where to stay is always a big issue when travelling. Staying at the Chiado 3 apartment will give you peace of mind to concentrate on your holiday. The pictures are very accurate in showing the quality of the apartment - which is what you get quality. The furnishings and appliances are top draw from the coffee machine to the Tampur mattress. Fantastic location to go to the old town as well as the night life of the Bairro alto which is even faster when you discover the short cuts.
I cannot speak more highly of the service from Mario who seems to be always on hand to provide help, suggest alternative tours as well as just talk about life in Lisbon. Be warned about the 67 steps to the apartment but the view is worth it and if you don't like steps or hills holiday in Holland.

Spacious, full of light, newly refurbished apartment, has every ammenity one has in his home, even the same Samsung flat screen giant size, high speed internet, fully equipped kitchen and much more.
Centrally located, at walking distance from many spots of interest.
The stunning views can be admired from every window of the flat, the river and the ships, the castle, alfama cathedral and all central Lisbon below.
The flat is one of Fadoflats managed by a young, very helpful sympatic manager, Mario, whose help and recommendations were very worthwhile.
The only drawback may be (not for us) the 66 stairs to get to the fourth floor of the building but for well fitted persons it is a good healty sport.

Unfriendly staff . The appartament is really for max 4 people although it is advirtised for more. 2 of us had to sleep on small sofa and child bed! Poor water drainage and pressure. 4th floor and no lift. A nightmare for elderly, pregnant women and small kids.

There are 7 prior reviews to this property ALL of them rating the flat and Fadoflats staff with 5 stars.
Indeed, the flat is on the 4th floor and has no lift. That fact is clearly advertised.
There are 2 queen size beds and an articulated single bed if necessary for a 5th guest. There are no sofa beds nor children beds.
A broken chair, a broken bed, a broken fire extinguisher support and God knows what else added to departing without informing of the damages might explain better this review.

Perfect situation in lisbon's center, the appartment is luxurious, very shiny and decorated with the better taste. The pictures and the description didn't lie. it is very clean and nothing is forgotten for you comfort. When you arrive the first time in Lisbon, you can see the city from the street but when you discover the appartment, you just have to look through the windows to discover the real Lisbon. every window gives you a new and beautiful sight of the city (you can even see the Tagus river in the back ground). Perfect for two couples or a family, 140m2, your not walking on each other there's enough space for everybody. Two minutes walking to catch the bus, Five for the tube and the famous tramway 28. You are in the cross of the most interresing districts. Bairo alto to have a drink or a dinner when the sun goes down just walking two minutes, Baixa Chiado for shopping, five minutes by foot. Live music outdoor in the early evening on a lovely and romantic place, two minutes by foot. But most of all, Mario's service is exceptionnal and he gives the best advices to discover his city. I think that if i come back in lisbon, i would rent this appartment again and i will recommend it to every one.

very nice flat, really confortable and well furnished. We were four and we had a wonderful stay. It is an ideal starting place to visit Lisboa. In the center of the town but away from the crowd and noise.

I can't say enough about this apartment, Lisbon in general, and Mario's service. It is in a great, quiet location (Chiado), wonderful views of the a beautiful city. We were parents and two teenage girls in Losbon for a week, and everything worked perfectly for us there. That there was only one bathroom for three females was a challenge for me, but that worked out with only slight delays in getting out of the house in the morning. The kitchen is very nice to use- we had our daily breakfasts there and prepared a number of dinners there as well. All new appliances and sufficient cookware. You need not go to the gym when staying there because you are up four floors of stairs without a lift, but since we had just come from an apartment that was five floors up without a lift, it wasn't so bad, and the views in the evening were fantastic. But most of all Mario's suggestions and hosting were the best. I needed to receive a replacement credit card, and he graciously accepted the Fedex card so we could continue with our vacation. An unequivocal 5 stars for this apartment.

We found the apartment just as we'd hoped, spacious, light, bright, clean, modern, nicely furnished and with fantastic views from every window. It felt like a home, not just a rental. We found the location perfect (as long as you are prepared for climbing the stairs). Kitchen very well equipped and easy to use; comfortable beds with nice linen; huge tele (not for us, but others will appreciate it). We were welcomed personally by Mario who was really helpful with local info, and patient with our questions. It was quiet on the whole, although on our last night a family with young children were very noisy overhead (and a lot of construction noise during the day from workmen doing renovations on other floors). Highly recommend, although might be a bit of squash for more than 1 couple, especially as only 1 bathroom.

This apartment was very luxurious and well equipped. It is in a great location in a quiet Chiado street but only minutes walk to the local shops and restaurants, and has wonderful views of the city. It's also near a tube station and the tram stops making it easy to get anywhere in the city.
Mario is very professional, friendly and helpful, and ensured we had a good time, recommending things to see, places to go, and a very nice restaurant. He even ordered us a cab back to the airport.
We had never been to Lisbon before and loved it. It is a beautiful city with lots to see, and bristling with nice bars and good restaurants. We avoided the bow ties and opted for the more local looking restaurants and we were never disappointed. We would definitely go back again.

Volveremos seguro. Hemos pasado unos días fabulosos en este piso. Lo que lo hace único es la vista que hay desde el balcón: Lisboa entero está a tus piés! El piso muy limpio, cómodo y acogedor. Muy cerca de casi todo: varios días volvimos al piso a medio día a descansar un poco antes de salir a hacer más turismo por la tarde. Nos gustó especialmente la Cervecería Trinidade que está a la vuelta de la esquina: es antigua, un lugar precioso y muy bien calidad-precio.
Mario nos esperó hasta que llegamos (por cierto ¡con dos horas de retraso!) y nos recibió con una sonrisa. Muy atento y dispuesto a todo lo que necesitaramos. Mario ¡gracias por todo! ¡volveremos a vernos!Response from Fadoflats - 02/13/2012
