The apartment is just 100m from the lovely garden of Principe Real (that has open air cafes and a children playground) and 50m from the São Pedro de Alcântara garden, with one of the most amazing viewpoints in Lisbon! Additional Location Information
The apartment is just 100m from the lovely garden of Principe Real (that has open air cafes and a children playground) and 50m from the São Pedro de Alcântara garden, with one of the most amazing viewpoints in Lisbon! You will be right in the city center, with everything you need just 2 steps away, and you can visit most of the town by foot.
- Rua Dom Pedro V itself is a beautiful street that everyone should visit, with some designer shops, restaurants, bars (like the wonderful "Chinese Pavillion"), gardens, good places to relax and hang out.
- 2 minutes to Bairro Alto (the nightlife, restaurants and bars)
- 5/10 minutes to the Chiado/Baixa areas (shops and beautiful sites);
- 10 minutes to Av. Liberdade (shops, sites, one of the most beautiful streets in Lisbon)
- 10 minutes to Rato, S. Bento, the Parliament;
- 15 minutes to Amoreiras (shopping mall) and Marquês de Pombal (next to famous Eduardo VII park and its hot and cold greenhouses)
- 20 minutes to Alfama (narrow windind streets, typical of old Lisbon and fado tradition)
- 10 minutes to 3 different subway stations (blue and yellow lines), 2 minutes to bus stops, 2 minutes to taxi.
- 10 minutes to tramway 28 (famous touristic tramway line)
- 10 minutes to Rossio train station (travel to the beautiful town of Sintra) and 15 minutes to de Cais do Sodré train station (travel to the beaches of the Cascais and Estoril coast)
- There are several small shops and groceries close by, as well as a supermarket at 5 minutes that is open everyday 9.00 to 21.00h
- ATM machines
Lisbon airport is just 15 minutes away. Our advice is to take a taxi, which should not cost more than 15 euros. One taxi takes 4 persons, but at the airport you can find some taxis that carry 6 persons. If you really want to come by bus, take the AeroBus Line 1 and get off at Rossio station. From there it's a 5/10 min walk (uphill).
There are several car parks at 5/10 minutes distance (Rua da Escola Politécnica 213; Rua da Misericórdia; Largo Camões). You can also park in the street outside but places are hard to find and you have to put coins in the parkmeters regularly.

St Croix, USVIPerfect location - helpful host!
Left on 05/01/2013 for a stay in April 2013
We stayed in one of Luis's apts in Barrio alto - it was just the best location to take in the sites and activities Lisbon has to offer. The place was clean and comfortable, and Luis was so helpful - gave us many suggestions about places to go and things to do. I would recommend this place to anyone traveling to Lisbon! It's great for two, but would accommodate a much larger group! There's a nice market across the street and several nice spots to eat and drink very nearby. Lots of good stuff just a 10 - 15 min. stroll away!

We had a fantastic time in Lisbon and it wasn't only because of the weather.. We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. The location was perfect (even better than what I have imagined) and the same goes for the apartment itself! We had plenty of space, the rooms were big and tastefully decorated, the place was super clean, the owner, Luis, welcomed us with a genuine smile and was always a phone call away. We immediately felt at home and we are looking forward to coming back. There is absolutely nothing to complain about. But I could go on and on and on about the good stuff. I recommend this apartment -and any other Luis offers, because he is a very trustworthy and organized individual- for an extremely pleasant and problem free stay in Lisbon!
Luis, thank you very much for exceeding our expectations; and we are a tough crowd, you know..!

The location was perfect. We stayed for close to three weeks and exploring Lisbon was easy from this comfortable, quiet apartment. The Funicular and Metro stops were nearby and it was an easy walk to many of the best restaurants in Lisbon in Bairro alto and Principe Real. Luis even arranged a taxi for our return trip to the airport which was greatly appreciated.

My family (my wife, 6 year old son, and 2.5 year old daughter) and I just returned from staying at the sister to this apartment at Travessa da Condessa do Rio, 8 - 2nd floor. Luis was very kind and extremely accommodating (he even made sure to call the taxi service for us the day before we left so we could have a taxi there at 4:30 am). Even before we arrived Luis had given us very detailed instructions on how to find our way from various locations and how to deal with dishonest cab drivers should we encounter them. The apartment was spacious, very comfortable and beautiful. The location of the apartment was close to food markets and Chiado was just over the hill (~ 5-10 min. walk). That same road was also right on the line for the 28 tram which will take one into Chiado or all the way to the St. George's Castle if desired. We all very much enjoyed our stay and would happily do it again.

The location alone was well worth the money. Right next to Miradouro San Pedro de alcantara, for drinks with a view. And just across the street you enter the Bairro alto. The big livingroom window fronting the Rua Dom Pedro street offered a nice glimpse of the streetlife.
The apartment worked absolutely fine for a family with 3 small children, although we were a bit concerned about the noise we're making - as the floors in these old buildings are not the thickest. The apartment was actually a bit bigger in real life than the impression from photos, which was good. We would have prefered a bit more in the stock of oil, soap, toiletpaper etc, but it was sufficient.
Luis was a good host, helping us with booking taxis for the departure- as well as offering some tips for what to do. -

Very nice appartment, comfortable and wonderfully located, 2 minutes walk to lively Bairro alto to go out at night. Walking distance to alfama, Chiado, Bairro alto, 10 minutes walk to train station. Very easy to explore Lisbon and around from there.
Luis, the owner, is kind and very helpful. Would definitely rent again! -

USALike Staying at the Home of a Family Friend
Left on 06/19/2012 for a stay in May 2012
My parents and I stayed here for five nights while we attended a conference. I'm so glad we chose to stay here instead of the conference hotel (or anywhere else, really) because:
1) The apartment is very cute and well decorated. In fact, it had a lot of furnishings that I have in my apartment, which instantly made me feel at home. We had tons of space for our things, comfortable beds, and a great kitchen to prepare our own meals. Even better, staying in this apartment, rather than a hotel, in Lisboa allowed us to feel like we were on vacation, but also a part of the city. We could immerse ourselves in (or retreat from) the city as much or as little as we wanted, which made for an unforgettable experience.
2) Perfect doesn't even begin to describe the location. You are minutes away from the break-taking são pedro de alcântara garden, the botanical garden, a wonderful grocery store, and any form of transportation you need. In fact we were able to explore Lisboa and neighboring towns by foot, taxi, train, metro, tram, and bus! This apartment was so centrally located that no matter how we chose to travel, getting around was easy and cost-effective. Also, I was impressed at the fact that this apartment is centrally located, but in a quiet neighborhood. This feature makes you feel like you're getting the best of both worlds.
3) Last, but not least, Mr. Dinis was a phenomenal host. Before the trip he was eager to help us get to the apartment and find our way around. When we arrived, he even took the time to make some excellent recommendations, which we followed, for places we should visit and things we should try while in town. (Do try the pastel de nata!!!) He also provided us with maps and an information packet with helpful telephone numbers and apartment details. We had no problems reaching him during our stay. He was a gracious host before we even arrived, went out of his way to help while we were there, and continued his eagerness to help even after we left. -
