Bairro Alto 2 is on the third floor (no lift) of an over 200 year old building fully refurbished in 2007. Renovation was complete and carefully accomplished: pre-existing old materials were recuperated and kept in the flat adding personality to the apartment. Noble old wood as well as stone and iron elements stand out in graciously harmony. Decoration is sober but cheerful creating a cozy and comfortable environment. The fireplace in the living room is a plus for winter nights.

Bairro Alto 2 is located at 41, Rua Diario de Noticias, third floor, in Bairro Alto quarter – probably the most charismatic and bohemian neighbourhood in town.
The Bairro Alto quarter, built in the 16th Century, is defined by a mix of old traditional and trendy fashionable neighbourhood. Side by side you can find small groceries stores, local restaurants and fado houses, as well as artists studios, avant gard shops and street art.
During the day the area is extremely calm but when the sun comes down the quarter comes alive and becomes one of the most popular nightlife destinations. In Bairro Alto you can find restaurants with cuisines from all over the World, bars for all urban tribes and a permanent musical/cultural atmosphere.
The flat is a great starting point to discover Lisbon: many points of interest are just outside the front door and within 3 to 5 minutes walk you will find Baixa/Chiado Metro Station, the famous 28 tram stops and the railway station to Sintra. Railway station to Estoril/Cascais beaches is 10 minutes walking distance.

Wonderful flat at the centre of the nightlife. Three stories up so lots of stairs. Bright and open. Very comfortable. Only one shower and toilet so sometimes a queue in the morning for the four of us. Mario met us on arrival and promptly fixed a problem when we called. We had great time in Lisbon.

We really liked this place for a few reasons:
1) Location. It was part of a very lively section of town. The nightlife was literally centred at our doorstep. Loads of good restaurants nearby as was the metro.
2) Size. Great size for 5 adults. Only one bathroom but we just made it quick.
3) Owner-operator. Mario is great. Spent a long time going over things with us when we arrived, helped the girls with their bags.

I could not have asked for a better service. We arrived at the apartment as agreed and were met by a very friendly person who took us to the apartment, told us all the details, including very fast wi-fi and 3 pairs of keys, wished us farewell and left.
The apartment was exactly as described and was in perfect condition, with beautiful finishes and original features. It was also in the middle of Bairro alto, which means a lot of noise but fear not, there were earplugs left beside each bed.
