Bordering the night-life district of Bairro-Alto, trendy Baixa-Chiado and boho Principe Real, and with its close proximity to public transport you can easily make your way around Lisbon’s main attractions.
Right next to all the action, the quaint Estrela neighborhood has been able to maintain a traditional real-Lisbon feel to it. The apartment is smack on one of its main arteries, and a pleasant stroll from the huge neoclassical domed basilica "Basilica da Estrela" and the Jardim da Estrela, a pleasurable park with lakes, gardens and playground facilities, and where activities and events are organized, especially in the warmer months.
Next to the garden you will also find the Cemitério dos Ingleses (English Cemetery ) where, between others, Henry Fielding rests, the author of Tom Jones.
In this area you can also find mini-markets, chemists, cafés and restaurants, banks and everything else you might need during your stay nearby.
Also within walking distance, you will find the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga, a 17th-century palace, which exhibits an amazing European art collection along with some Portuguese and Asian works and the country's parliament, the SĂŁo Bento Palace.
Walking distance and worth visiting is Campo de Ourique. In this great shopping neighborhood you can really get a feel of typical Lisbon. This is also where Portugal´s most famous poet Fernando Pessoa spent the last 15 years of his life. His house (now museum and cultural center) can be visited at Rua Coelho da Rocha 16.
