Additional Location Information

The apartment is located in the historic centre of Lisbon, more specifically in an area called Castelo, and surrounded by a number of important and traditional neighborhoods such as Alfama, Baixa, Chiado and Graça, all situated just a short and pleasant walk away. Traditional Fado venues, trendy bars, stunning viewpoints, historical monuments, churches, imperial squares, restaurants… everything can be found in a short distance from the flat. The area is known to have charming alleys where walking is a must if you are looking for a medieval scenery that you will fall in love with in a matter of seconds.
Being only a two minute walk distance from the apartment, São Jorge Castle is an essential visit for those who wish to witness the best view over Lisbon. And since we are talking about a country with a tradition of being gastronomically inclined, nobody should fail to try the taverns situated around the castle or to browse the traditional portuguese shops where you can find a variety of products ranging from the typical Barcelos Cockerel (a portuguese icon) to filigree earrings (a type of ornamental work made from gold that is used in the North of the country) or cork objects and more.
There are several stunning viewpoints in the area that will strike you with beautiful views over the river. Visit the Sé de Lisboa and Santo Antônio church, both situated just a 4 minute walk away. And if you want to combine leisure, culture and a sophisticated meal whilst viewing Tagus river then a visit to Chapitô Theater School, located just around the corner, is ideal. There you can find daily shows, concerts, exhibitions, workshops and more.
Alfama is also a must visit with its trade mark flowers on the windows, hung clothes, fado and narrow sloping streets.
After you fall in love with the area of Castle you will definitely want some more… and nothing better than following the riverside and exploring Terreiro do Paço – an Imperial square rebuilt after the devastating earthquake in 1755.
Further from the river you can visit Baixa and Chiado, a vibrant commercial area where you can find restaurants, cafés, supermarkets and ATM’s. This is the best neighborhood to find the most typical aspects of the city and to feel like a local yourself.
If you are looking for a touristic activity mixed with some nightlife experience you should visit Bairro Alto, known for its narrow streets, when you will find one bar next to the other. It’s a place highly visited by tourists and young people, where anything can happen!
On your last day, the best way to say goodbye to Lisbon is at Portas do Sol, a street café situated a 5 minute walk away from the apartment, where the view and the tranquility you will experience are worth more than a thousand words…
Welcome to Lisbon!

Even though this is essentially a walking zone, anyone should catch the emblematic Electrico 28, the traditional and charming Lisbon tram that will take you to the main touristic sites in the city. If taking the underground is your choice, the closest station is Rossio and its located 10 minutes away from the apartment by foot. Taxis are also easy to find in this area.
