The Camões Palace (National Monument) is one of the most emblematic buildings of Lisbon, situated in the golden triangle of the city, next to the elevator Bica, at the meeting point between Chiado, Bairro Alto and Santa Catarina. The palace was the residence of the famous Marques de Pombal and President Sidónio Pais, was made famous by writer Eca de Queiroz in "The Mandarin": "I bought, dwelt the Palácio Amarello, the Loreto: the magnificence of my installation are well known by the indiscreet engravings of the French Illustration"
